In the fourth Kate Marshall thriller, the PI is recuperating from a near death experience when she almost drowns during a swim. While at the hospital, Kate strikes up a conversation with Jean, another patient who talks about her then three year old grandson, who disappeared on a camping trip eleven years before. Kate agrees to take on the case, to try to what happened to the kittle boy, but she soon discovers that Jean didn’t tell her everything. Something in Jean’s past could be the reason the little boy was taken – or worse. I love this series, Kate is a strong and believable character who doesn’t shy from dark or ugly cases, she does what needs doing to solve her case
