It is sometimes hard to review a memoir as to how can you put a rating on someone's life experience and how they choose to convey this.

I think this would make a fantastic book club read! A reflective, self deprecating, funny book that is full of advice and lessons learnt looking for love. I think it was a great read, if you've ever been through a break up and ended up coming out stronger you'll resonate with Christina's words!

I found it really hard to get into this book. The style of writing was what I normally read. It followed the main character from childhood thru to adulthood sharing lots of experiences

I really struggled to get into the book. I think the style of writing was not for me and due to that I couldn't feel invested in the main character and really understand what was going on.

Following Christina from early childhood through to her 50s, this is an inspiring and thought provoking novel which encourages you to witness and share her experiences - both good and bad - while also looking at your own.

An engaging, open and honest look at one woman's romantic history charting how fairy tales, social pressures and self esteem can often lead us to make decisions an older, wiser us may advise not to. It gives the reader the opportunity to forgive themselves for the mistakes a younger them made while encouraging them to appreciate and make the most of what they have.

An uplifting, chuckle and sob inducing roller coaster of a memoir, I heartedly recommend.

Enjoyable and informative, an interesting read. Everyone needs a Mr Darcy in their life! Relationships are funny things, always changing, often unique and this is captured well.

A very busy book. I found the writing style frantic and dizzying.
Not what I expected from the cover and I had to flick and skim pages to finish this book. Disappointing.

This was a really fun book to read. I could relate to Christina’s history of boyfriends, the way she felt at the time, then afterwards and how her dad was the main influence in her life and yet complicated too. It’s a book most women should read, can relate to, laugh with and know that it gets better eventually! Highly recommend.

I'm giving this book 3 stars.

I found it witty and engaging in parts. I have to give the author credit for the honest account of her relationships. Some parts were quite slow, and I lost interest a few times but overall, a good read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read this in return for an honest review.

Overall: Excellent read!

I love reading memoirs like In Search of Mr Darcy. I think every woman should read this book. Christina Ford shares here her life, experiences, and lessons she learned.

Highly recommend

This was a brutally honest account of nearly four decades of failed relationships and marriages. I have to give Christina a lot of praise for her honesty throughout this whole book, she shone the light on all of her marriages and wasn't afraid to air her own dirty laundry when other people would have kept that quiet.

I would recommend this book to every girl in their teenage and early twenties years. This book shows that, even when facing the most brutal of break-ups, you can find strength at the end of it and it helps you grow. Sometimes relationships aren't meant to last forever and there's nothing wrong with that.

I also appreciated that this book was not just focused on Christina's romantic relationships, but also on her relationships with her friends, her daughters and herself.

Although I liked the writing style and humour, I thought that some parts were more drawn out than they needed to be, which is why I'm personally rating this book 3 stars.

Thank you again NetGalley, Christina Ford and Icon Books for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

An easy enough read, can be a bit slow in parts, but if you are looking to fill those long winter nights then why not give it a go?

In Search of Mr Darcy is a detailed dating history of one middle aged women's experiences. There are some interesting snippets but to be honest I found it a bit boring. It is very long winded, padded out and overworked, I tried but just couldn't get into it at all. I am really disappointed but hope this is just my opinion and everyone else will really enjoy it. Not really my cup of tea but will be perfect for someone else.

When you read the first page and totally get where the author is coming from. I devoured this book. I felt every high and low of each relationship but from the safety of my comfy chair.
If I had a teenage daughter I would buy her this book and insist she reads it. It shows how we can and do move on. Love is not a fairytale, it's messy, complicated and yes it can hurt but it doesn't kill you.

I had a great time reading Cristina Ford's In Search of Mr. Darcy, and I finished it quickly.

Because of my age, my experiences, and the fact that I don't see life through rose-colored glasses, I believe that this narrative truly resonated with me. It was really uplifting to see how she was able to capture what it takes to get through this life, expose her imperfections, and accept criticism. I think the ending, where she questioned whether long-lasting relationships are more of an endurance test than a sign of true love, truly encapsulated it.
