A fun chapter sampler, I don't have too much to say since it was pretty short and I don't want to put spoilers. Lots of potential and Cosmere implications here.
Getting back into this after having read the last book in the series many years ago was tough but it felt like home coming back to these characters. The Wayne prologue was quite endearing as I love Wayne as a character. A high pace story with lots of potential as this was a sampler.
Brandon Sanderson used to be one of my favorite authors. The second era of Mistborn is confusing to me though. How are there guns when allomancy is involved? I feel like it's a cop out. I also do not love how he explains everything to death like if he didn't we could not fathom what is going on. The original Mistborn trilogy was amazing, these not so much
An excellent chapter sampler for a new Brandon Sanderson installment.
Filled with the same expressive writing and interesting characters this will definitely be a sought after title Sanderson fans and newer fans will enjoy.
Although it was just a sample of the last book in a series, it made me super excited to read the rest.
Michael Kramer is an amazing narrator. I love how steady his narrating is, and it's very easy to get immersed in the books.
Another excellent book by Brandon Sanderson. Great to see him growing and branching out a bit with his content. I did struggle with the speed of the narrator. As with all of Sandersons audiobooks, the narration is slow with plenty of long, drawn-out, dead air which makes an already long book feel longer. I had to listen to it at 1.5 speed for it to feel normal.
I was so excited to read this excerpt but then I instantly regretted it because it wasn't enough! I need more! I need the whole book ASAP!
What an incredible way to start off the end of the series. Michael Kramer is a master narrator and absolutely does justice to Brandon's work. I loved listening to the beginning of this book, and I was immediately drawn in.
Bravo to both Brandon and Michael.
Gahhhhh so excited to be back in Mistborn Era 2 world! Sando is really leading the fantasy pack right now and this series is just amazing. I liked how this sample takes place a few years after Mistborn 6, leaving time for the MCs to all grow a bit. I'm eager to dig into the rest of the book and see what shenanigans Sando has in store!!
Thank you for the sample of this upcoming book.
As always, I love this author and narrator.
I am so excited to finish this series. Mistborn is a favorite and this series continues the complex world. I love the humor and the steampunk vibes in this series.
The preview chapters are so good! This is one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, and Sanderson did not disappoint!
The narrator is fantastic, and does a great job with the characters.
Short review of the book:
Brandon Sanderson is a master of fiction, and I cannot wait to read the full version of this much-anticipated novel. Anyone who has kept up with the Mistborn series and the Cosmere will love this addition to their collection.
There is no denying that Brandon Sanderson is witty. His dialog is just on point.
Story wise I like where we were going with the dual POV's, but listened to 1 hour and 45 minutes and I guess I expected more conflict to arise, the big bad to pop up. I'm sure each of the POV's struggles in these chapters with align to a common problem eventually, I'm just not sure I would wait that long to find out before setting down the book.
I have spent the last few months re-reading and re-listening to the entire Mistborn Saga. To say I am excited for #7 is an understatement. So, I jumped at the chance to listen to this chapter sampler. It's only 5 chapters, but so much has happened already. I can't wait to get my hands on the Audible version.
Michael Kramer is back again as the narrator. It wouldn't be Mistborn without him.
Thank you to Brandon Sanderson, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the chance to listen to a few chapters before the release.
The Chapter Sample is very short so I can't give a review on the book in terms of plot, etc. The audiobook production is up to par with the rest of the series. I really like this narrator for the Mistborn series. It's only about 5 chapters in but a lot is already being set up. I'm surprised at the 6 year time jump, and feel like we need to find out footing with where these characters we know and love are at this point in time - a lot has changed! I need to know what happens next ASAP
I’m new fan of Brandon Sanderson but when I tell you I fell fast and hard for his writing….
This chapter sampler has me DYING to get my hands on his latest in the Mistborn Saga, The Lost Metal!
I also absolutely adore the narrator!
Love, love the Mistborn Series. I made sure to listen to this Book 7 sampler. I really enjoyed it and will be buying the Audible when it comes out on the 15th!! What an amazing continuation of the series! Wax and the gang are back at it.
This is only the first five chapters but I am already hooked. I need to look up a quick recap of the previous books because this one starts in the middle of a bunch of things.
Can’t wait to read this full book
💥🎧 read by Michael Kramer 1H 45M - extended sample.
I'm super impressed with the audiobook! I don't think I've listened to Michael Kramer before. An exceptional performance!
I remember borrowing The Bands of Mourning from my library's "new" shelf because of the pretty cover only to find out when I got home that it's part of a series and returned it. I don't normally read fantasy but this audiobook sample was very good and exciting so I'm going to give the first book a try.
Pretty sure fans of the series will love this one!
The Lost Metal promises to be an exciting conclusion to the second era of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series. From the chapter preview (first 5 chapters), we can see the Elendel is on the path to full conflict with the outer cities, but this may be only the beginning as our heroes begin to see influences and powers from the broader Cosmere. Michael Kramer’s narration is spot on as usual, especially when it comes to representing Wayne’s many accents.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing an audio review copy of The Lost Metal - Chapter Sampler. I look forward to listening to the full book and expect to provide a full review and discussion on a future episode of Narrated: https://narratedpodcast.com.
