I loved the Mistborn series and enjoyed listening to an excerpt from The Lost Metal! I immediately felt drawn back into the world of Wax and Wayne. I’m excited to learn more about the brothers’ backstory! The narrator was fantastic and I enjoyed listening to him. I would definitely listen to the full story on audiobook. The Lost Metal releases November 15, 2022. Thank you to Brandon Sanderson, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for a free audio excerpt in exchange for honest feedback.

This turned out better than expected. The characters are great and yes I will read another in this series.
Audiobook Narrator Michael Kramer is great at performing the characters!!!

My rating is 13 out of 17 lol - you will understand when you read this story!!

The Lost Metal” starts years later after the ending of Bands of Mourning.
The political intrigue is interesting as well as the character’s relationships.

This is a review and rating is for the first handful of chapters provided for free by NetGalley for listening prior to publishing. I can't wait for the rest to be out in a couple of weeks.

We join the gang after a significant time jump after the Bands of Mourning. Wax is now a politician with 2 kids. Wayne and Marasi are still chasing the Set. Hoid is Wax's driver (lol). The story starts as Wax loses a crucial vote in Elendel government and Wayne and Marasi find a Set hideout and are forced to engage in a gun fight.

Michael Kramer returns as the audiobook narrator and brings the characters back to life once more.

Brandon Sanderson never disappoints! After rereading the Wax & Wayne books this year in anticipation of this new release, I am even more excited after reading this sampler. Michael Kramer does the best job narrating BS's books and immediately get excited hearing his voice. I'm excited for the next part of the W&W adventures!

I've gone about this all wrong, as this is the first Brandon Sanderson book that I've (partly) read, but he's been on my list for years and I have all the former books in this series on my shelf. So now I have some spoilers for those books, but I'm sure they'll still be enjoyable!

This peek into Sanderson's work shows why he's so popular and has so many successful books as well as a faithful following of readers. He's constantly talked about in social media book groups, which was my introduction to him and the reason that I started buying his books without having read any.

Anyway, this sneak peek was great. It's fast-paced and engaging, with interesting characters and some good wit. I obviously don't know all that I should have known going in, as Sanderson doesn't waste time with huge info dumps in the beginning of the book to catch up readers who haven't read the previous installments or may have forgotten details; he plows on and hopes the reader follows along, which I can pretty well even with no previous notion of who the characters reall are.

I opted for the audiobook snippet rather than the ebook, and I enjoy that there are varying accents done . . . although some in the prologue seem to shift and change, so I hope that's ironed out before the official release of the book. I've never been a huge fan of Michael Kramer's reading, but I do like the life he brings to the scenes in this book.

I'm so glad to have gotten a taste for this book, as now I'll get to the Mistborn series (from the beginning) soon.

Wax, and Wayne and the gang, are back in this 4th installment in the alloy of law series. The book I’m personally the most excited about for the end of the year. Though this was just a short version of it, I'm pumped to finish it. If you have read any of Sanderson's books before, especially the Mistborn novels, I highly recommend checking this series out if you haven’t. Well worth the read. It has a historical investigative setting to it, like goofy detectives in a fantasy world. They are so funny and wholesome. I’m shaking with excitement to see where this story goes and how it ends.

My second Sanderson tale is an enjoyable work of fantasy/science fiction. Though only a chapter sampler, I found myself pulled along by the characters into the story. Kudos to narrator Michael Kramer for his amazing skills in voicing the characters and adding depth to the background.

Four and a half stars. There wasn’t much to quibble with, really. My appetite is whetted for not just the full book, but for other Sanderson works as well. I extend my thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for this ARC. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.

An author at the top of his craft propelling this plot to what should be another satisfying conclusion. No one in fantasy is performing any work to the level of Sanderson and this early peak at the Lost Metal does not dissuade my feeling on this in anyway.

Thank you to NeGalley, MacMillan Audio, and - most importantly - to Brandon Sanderson and Michael Kramer for the advance extended preview of The Lost Metal.

6 years after the Bands of Mourning were discovered (and the book published) we reunite with Wax, Wayne, Steris, Marasi, and the rest of those we’ve been following in the second Era of Sanderson’s Mistborn series. Along with the characters we’ve become so invested in, we are re-acquainted immediately with Sanderson’s classic wry wit, inventive new applications of seemingly well-worn magic systems, humor, and tension.

And through it all Mr. Kramer continues his masterful narration, perfectly nailing the blending of serious tones and Whimsy while creating a pleasing Harmony in the balance.

What a great little teaser! I can't wait to dive back into the world of Wax and Wayne! The narration for this sampler was great, I love how the narrator is able to make distinct voices for all the characters, which really helps lessen any confusion that might occur. Overall, this sampler has me really excited to listen to the full audio book!

The opening of this book leads us into a new and thrilling tale from the second era of the Mistborn series. It is thrilling and exciting even at the beginning and with Michael Kramer coming back to narrate it feels familiar. This is going to be a very exciting conclusion to the series, can't wait for the rest of the book to be available.

Ahhhhh the narration is perfect! Just like what I expected. I am serious not ready for this one and have no idea how this one will end. EEEEEEK.

I'm excited what Sanderson does with this new novel.
A long time jump between books -- just what I love. I feel like time jumps (when done right, which I have every expectation that this book will) breathe new life into a series, allowing us to explore interesting long-term ramifications and relationships.
The tone is just like what we've gotten out of the other Mistborn Era 2 books: a little goofy, a lot of wordplay, and seriously high stakes.

Michael Kramer is as always a wonderful narrator.

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for a excerpt of this book to review.
