I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

I have read all four instalments of this series this week, which is perhaps why the will they/won't they relationship between Robin and Freya is beginning to wear on me. It might be a bit more of a contest if the author had given Josh a personality. As it is, Freya keeps saying how she loves him and it seems to be because he is so cheerful...

As to the mystery bit of this instalment, it was excellent. It had plenty of twists and turns and kept me guessing.

I wholeheartedly recommend this series.

Seen to be Believed by Louisa Scarr is one enthralling, charged mystery.
I was hanging onto every word.

I loved DS Robin Butler and DC Freya West story. Following them through this murder mystery was a thrill from beginning to end. The characters are strong and are vividly drawn.
This is so cleverly written. And the pacing was on point.
This book was more than just good, it was wonderful!
Scarr's excellent writing style was amazing here.
This was one of those books that just pulls you in. It is very hard to put down.

Canelo,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this eARC!

A home invasion. A mother and son beaten, a daughter traumatized. DC Robin Butler and his partner Freya West are mystified. The house is that of a wealthy family but the nothing is stolen except some personal electronics. And the attacker has left behind fingerprints and a trail of security camera photographs. The home belongs to entrepreneur Andrew Grace, partner in Hamilton Grace, a mysterious, little known company specializing in virtual reality. His co-founder is Tiller Hamilton, a reclusive, perhaps autistic computer genius. Why would someone want Grace’s family computers? He swears he has no idea but when a person with ties to the company disappears, Butler and West realize that the solution to this case may be deeply hidden in the workings of Hamilton Grace and its owners.

The convoluted plot of Seen to Be Believed draws you in. The deepening character development (this is the fourth in a series, although at can be read as a standalone) makes you sympathetic to their problems. But the real focus of this excellent mystery is the changing relationship between Butler and West. Reminiscent of Elly Griffith’s Ruth Galloway series, Louisa Scarr has created a bond between the detectives that is pulled and tested in many ways. The conclusion of Seen to be Believed will leave you wanting more. Today I can suggest that this is for fans of Elizabeth George, Tana French and Robert Galbraith but future reviews will say “for fans of Louisa Scarr.” 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Canelo and Louisa Scarr for this ARC.
