I have to admit that I am addicted to the plots and snarky humor of both Andy Carpenter and The K Team. But you don't need to follow in any kind of order to enjoy (just ask my friends!).
This one is more convoluted than most as there are three interconnected cold cases to investigate under the oversight of Captain Stanton of the Paterson Homicide Department. It just keeps on getting crazier and more complicated. No spoilers! Just enjoy and try to solve the mess!

What I love about this book is the fantastic combination of humor and suspense. Corey is a witty and relatable narrator, with plenty of clever one-liners to keep you chuckling throughout the story. But that doesn't mean the mystery takes a back seat - on the contrary, I was on the edge of my seat as the team uncovered new clues and got closer to solving the case. The K Team's unique blend of skills and personalities makes for a great dynamic, and it's a joy to watch them work together to crack the case.

Another thing I appreciated about this book is the attention to detail in the investigation. Rosenfelt clearly did his research, and it shows in the way the team uses police tactics and procedures to gather evidence and track down leads. It's a fascinating glimpse into the world of police work, and I found myself learning a lot along the way.

Overall, I highly recommend Good Dog, Bad Cop to anyone who loves a good mystery with plenty of humor and heart. Rosenfelt has done it again, delivering a captivating and delightful read that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment of the K Team's adventures.

I picked up this book, after really enjoying a book from another of this author’s series. The covers are goofy and titles ridiculous, but Rosenfelt writes a tight story – not easy for such a short novel.

I enjoyed all the different main characters, including Simon Garfunkel. I liked that there was an established, healthy romance (should they or should they not ‘M’?). I liked the witty dialogue, and the comradery between the colleagues. I loved that I had a few inklings of what was coming, story-wise, but not enough to wreck the ending.

This is the 4th book in the K-Team series, and while I would consider it a stand-alone, I do think I’ll enjoy going back and filling in all the gaps.

Unhappy that I'd missed quite a few books in this series after reading "Holy Chow" last year, I was looking forward to this, the next in the now four-book series. While it was enjoyable, but I'm somewhat unhappy again. Why? The character that made me love that one, retired criminal attorney Andy Carpenter of Paterson, New Jersey, is conspicuous in his absence.

The focus here is on the K Team, comprised of Corey Douglas, Laurie Collins, Marcus Clark and their K-9 partner, Simon Garfunkel (who really doesn't get to shine as much as I'd have liked, but at least he's in it). The team members aren't employees of the Paterson Police Department, but they've been hired by the Police Chief as sort of consultants to investigate cold cases. Their pick of the litter is the death of two people - a woman and a cop generally thought to be "dirty." But that man was a mentor to Corey, who never believed the rumors. They also plan to investigate murder of another guy who was shot while in his car in a parking lot.

The investigation sort of wanders all over the place as hunches are followed up and leads go not much of anywhere except to hint at local mob connections and a possible event that could bring part of the country to its knees. But here and there, connections are made, giving the team incentive to keep digging. It's quite a chase, and in the end, all's well that ends well. As for me, I'm ready for the next one (hopefully with Carpenter back in action), and I thank the publisher, via NetGalley, for allowing me to read and review a prerelease copy of this one.

I haven’t read the previous books in this series and I had no trouble to piece everything together and smoothly fit in while I enjoyed tagging along with Corey Douglas, his K-9 partner Simon Garfunkel, Laurie Collins as well as with Marcus Clack while these private investigators went about sniffing the truth.

The Paterson PD hired the team to investigate several cold cases, one in particular involving a murdered police officer while he was on a stake out... The rumour is that he may have been a dirty cop but the team rejects this idea. Looking deeper into this, the team finds two more deaths that could be related....and as the task gets even more complex they find themselves in chaotic and turbulent situations.

This is a challenging read with lots of characters to keep track of and with the many unexpected twists that come one after the other you really need to stay focus on what is going on. The narration is done by Corey and his tone is enjoyable. The plot is not only well developed but will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning. This active and quick paced story will entice you to flip pages rapidly to see the outcome.

Retired Paterson NJ cop Corey Douglas and the rest of his “K Team” enjoy helping the Paterson police solve cold cases, but Corey is especially drawn to their newest case, which involves three deaths, one of which is Jimmy Dietrich, who was a mentor to Corey when he was on the force. Of course, the case is not straightforward, or the police would have already solved it, and no one is even certain that the murders are related . As the K team investigates, matters get even more complicated.
As details came out I felt quite challenged to figure out which were significant and which were not. The plot kept me engaged throughout. I might call this a “police procedural” except that the K team are not police. They enjoy a wonderful combination of police skills learned over the course of their careers with the freedom to investigate in ways that police may not have, and their relationships with former colleagues give them access that most private investigators would lack.
But plots are not what keeps me reading David Rosenfelt. Rosenfelt’s Andy Carpenter series is my favorite mystery/thriller series, and perhaps the biggest factor in my enjoyment is Andy’s wry humor. I rather missed that in the K team series, but I am delighted to report that narrator Corey Douglas has developed a sense of humor that could give Andy a run for his money, with quips like “Computers are the best thing to happen to detectives since humans grew fingerprints.”
Almost as much fun as the humor are the team members. In addition to Corey, the members are retired cop Laurie Carpenter, who is Andy Carpenter’s wife, and taciturn “muscle” Marcus Clark, a man of few words who is always there when one of the team is in danger. The final team member is another retiree from the police department, Corey’s former K-9 partner German shepherd Simon Garfunkel, who is the source of the team’s name. Crucial to their work is the technical expertise of Sam Willis, a “cyber-entry expert” (NOT a hacker!) extraordinaire.
You can enjoy this book without reading the earlier instalments, but you will enjoy them even more if you read in order. After you get to know the K team, I am sure you will want to go on to read about their friend Andy Carpenter. Paterson, New Jersey sounds like it might be a pretty dangerous place to live, but it sure provides great material for a mystery series

The K Team has been hired by the Paterson, New Jersey, police department to work on cold cases. They can choose which case they want to work on. This one is personal for Corey Douglas. Danny Avery, is mentor on the force, was shot in the back of the head on a street in Paterson. A short time later, Jimmy Dietrich, another retired cop, and Danny's wife were found in what looked like a murder-suicide. All of the cases are unsolved.

The first thing the team decides to do, after reading all the police files, is try to find out why Danny was where he was the night he was shot. Their suspicions lead them to believe that he was watching a local restaurant. Calling on Sam Willis, they determine who was at the restaurant and learn that one of the people who was there was also a murder victim just a short time after Danny was killed.

And the case isn't nearly cold enough because, after the K Team begins its investigation, someone tries to kill Corey - twice. Luckily, Corey's constant companion his retired police dog Simon Garfunkel was with him and still in top police form.

As they pursue leads and look into people, their case seems to get more complicated and convoluted than it was when it started. And somehow Homeland Security is taking an interest.

I really enjoy the tone of these stories. Corey Douglas has an interesting viewpoint and he is the narrator of the book. I like his commitment phobia and love for his canine companion. I like his dogged style of investigation. I like the way he works with his partners Lori Collins and Marcus Clark.

This was an entertaining and fast-paced story that will filled with twists and turns.

Good Dog, Bad Cop by David Rosenfelt is book #4 in the K-Team series. A cold case thaws quickly when the K-Team starts investigating. Actually they find that two cases are connected. The storyline here is quite intricate, many webs to untangle. I really enjoyed the dialogue in this book. Made for quite a few chuckles! There's plenty of action and suspense. A definite page-turner!

it’s always fun to open a new David Rosenfelt book and “Good Dog Bad Cop” does not disappoint. All of our favorite characters are back, although I always want to see more Marcus. This time around, Corey and Laurie et al. take on a couple of cold cases that involve the murder of a cop and subsequently investigating what he was looking into that led to his murder. There are a lot of moving parts, but the writing makes it easy to follow and keep up. Told with lots of wit and the self-deprecating humor, the story is fast -paced and even though parts are pretty predictable, there are enough surprises to earn a four star review. Sorry Simon, I’d give your role a 5 biscuit rating, but the humans took it down one. All in all, a good read, but still not to the Andy Carpenter level.

My first read by this author. I enjoyed the story and thought it was cute book. Even better when a dog is in the story!

Good Dog Bad Cop is the fourth book in the K Team Mysteries by David Rosenfelt. This book follows the team as they investigate two cold cases that appear on the surface to be unrelated with the exception that two of the victims were police officers and the other is the wife of the first victim. As the team digs into the circumstances leading up to and surrounding both crimes, they uncover a myriad of coincidences and individuals involved in tangential activities that lead them to conclude that the cases are truly linked by more than just the personal relationships.

Although this book is part of a series, the author has included enough of the backstory of the team members and other characters to enable this to be a standalone read but also whets the reader's appetite to go back and catch up on the intricate details of the earlier books. The characters and plotline have enough depth and development to make this one of my OMC (One More Chapter) books and readers need to be prepared to be unwilling to put it down until the very end. The pathways that the reader is led down in this book also makes for a quite surprising twist at the very end that makes the story completely worth the read and has me looking forward to the next book in this series as well as determined to catch up on the author's earlier works.

Good Dog, Bad Cop is the 4th book in the The K Team series by David Rosenfelt. Even if you haven't read the previous books, you can easily read this as a standalone mystery.

This book follows Corey Douglas, retired police office and private detective and his team of fellow investigators, including K-9 Simon Garfunkel, as they assist the local PD with cold cases. This time they are investigating a murder of a police officer, and the supposed murder-suicide involving his former mentor, Jimmy. Corey knows there is no way that jimmy could have killed anyone, let alone himself and he is determined to prove that!

I really enjoyed this book! It moved quickly and the plot was well developed and kept me on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed hearing from characters from the Andy Carpenter series, but from a different perspective, throughout the book. It made it feel familiar, yet new at the same time.

If you enjoy a good mystery, you should definitely check this one out! I enjoy how the author keeps things light with the appropriate amount of humor and sarcasm! I actually laughed out loud and caught a little snort because of the sarcastic remarks!

This is definitely a must read for 2023! It was incredible!!!

Great book! For some reason I always think these books are going to be romance Harlequin , all nice and a little thriller thrown in! But this book was awesome! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, A great who done it and great detective work! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! This series is a spin off of the Andy Carpenter books and did not disappoint. The K Team novels center around a group of 5 that solve cold cases. Laurie is Andy's wife and if you are familiar with that series you know she is brilliant and tough as nails.. Corey is an ex cop turned investigator that teams with Laurie along with his dog Simon. Simon is also a retired police dog. Add Sam, who is a cyber wizard and Marcus who can scare you just by breathing and voila you have the K Team.

Hot on the trail of 3 mysterious murders, Coret and Simon take center stage. Corey's outlook on life and his wit reminds me a little of Andy, though I probably would be insulting both of them. The story is high action, a tas violent and keeps you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this suspenseful mystery and can't wait for the next installment.

I truly enjoy anything by David Rosenfelt. I am a huge fan of his Andy Carpenter series but It took me a little while to really warm up to his K-9 series. This book is the best of the series so far. In Good Dog, Bad Cop, the investigative unit is assigned a cold case that revolves around the killing of a police officer. There is plenty of suspense and problem solving and the story moves quickly. I love David Rosenfelt's books, so was happy when I received this requested ARC. This is the 4th book in his new series. In this book Corey, Laurie and Marcus take on a new cold case...an officer was murdered while apparently on a stake out. Question is, why and who was he staking out? The rumor was he may have been killed because he was a "dirty" cop, but the team does not believe this. I felt that this book focused more on Corey than the other two, who basically only showed up towards the end of the book. While I enjoy this series, I have to admit to missing the snarky attitude of Andy Carpenter, in his long running series. Thanks, NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the read.

Obviously, The K Team books benefit from the fact they feature several of the beloved characters from the Carpenter novels. But, they would be entertaining even to those who haven't read the other series (shame on you). Good Dog, Bad Cop continues the fun as Corey, Laurie, Marcus, and Simon have a complex mystery on their hands. Rosenfelt gives us criminals spreading their tentacles far beyond the home base of the The K Team. But, their dogged pursuit of justice enables them to once again connect the dots in a very satisfying final act. The K Team takes on two cases for the local police department which focuses on the murder of both a police officer and a suspected murder-suicide of a retired police officer and the murdered officer’s wife. The team uses all of their skills to dig deeper into phone records, backgrounds and the lives of the three dead people and those that are connected to them through the work they were doing.

With Simon a his K9 partner, Corey is traveling around to dig deeper while Laurie and the others support as needed. Can these two cold cases be solved, or are they going to be returned to a deep freeze? If the K Team has anything to say about it, both cases will be solved and justice will be served.

The fourth in this spin off series of the Andy Carpenter Books is focused on a case the team has taken on and is told through Corey’s perspective. I love the snakiness of the characters and their humor. Having grown up in New Jersey, it’s always a hug from home when I read these books. It’s just the way we show humor and our take on things. Great mysteries and great characters, both four legged and two legged, make all of Rosenfelt’s books great reads!
