Another win for Nora. I haven’t read any of her books in years, and this one seems a bit different than her typical romance novels. It start off with two roommates living together happily, and then one of them is murdered. Nina was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Morgan was the true target.
I was drawn into this story from the very beginning. I finished it in barely more than a day because I needed to know wha was going to happen to Morgan and if the FBI was going to figure out who Luke really was and why Morgan was targeted.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my ARC of this book.
I did very much enjoy this book
I don’t offer read Nora Roberts books but I found this one very good. This one is one that I will most likely read again in the future.
I recommend.
I haven't read a Nora Roberts vook in probably 10 yrs, and this one was better than any i remember reading before. The characters were well defined and you did not know what to expect. Definitely an eye opener for those going through this. Definitely check it out
Identity sucked me in with its mix of mystery, romance and suspense. Morgan was a compelling character. I always enjoy Nora’s books and am so thankful to have received this arc!
A great mix of suspense, romance, and family!
I'm not sure if this was a good idea for me, since it shows you can't trust anyone, and I already have trust issues, lol. Honestly, the fact that you know the killer after the murder, it almost made me more anxious to read the story than if the killer was a mystery, but I enjoyed every moment.
I felt so bad for Morgan after the loss of her friend, knowing the killer wanted her instead. Watching her try to start over with her family, but knowing the psychopath was still monitoring her every move, made the audiobook so intense for me. It's broken into three parts and I had to read romcoms in between, but kept coming back to Identity in my mind.
As an army wife I enjoyed the fact that the MC is an army brat. I’m late to Nora Robert’s but I’m definitely on her team. The mystery was really good and I will keep looking forward to her novels from now on!
It’s been ages since I’ve read a Nora Robert’s book. Maybe since the mid 2000s? Her books are what got me into reading. The day after I graduated from college I picked up a book and have rarely gone a day without reading.
Overall I was entertained and engaged. Although it’s very long and could easily cut down a bit of the repetition I still felt invested. I dream of finding this picturesque Vermont town and resort. I liked all the characters but I didn’t initially feel the connection between Morgan and Miles. It wasn’t until 60% or more when his point of view came more frequently and his personality developed that I really liked him as the H.
Morgan used “the ladies” or “her ladies” at 52 times to describe her mother and grandmother. It got weird. At first I was really interested in the description of how it works behind the scenes as a bartender. Then it got repetitive and felt more like the author spent a lot of time researching and it was an info dump. It reminded me all Nora Robert’s characters are the best in their career/field. Since it’s a long book those two things became a bit annoying and distracting.
I really like the idea of more stories - siblings, friends, etc. - coming from this idyllic town but I think it might be a one off.
This stand alone book has a good story line and is fast paced. Fans for Nora Roberts will enjoy this title.
Loved this book.Morgan Alibright is an amazing women. She’s independent, has a good job, but needs a bit of help with the house she now has. So she takes in a roommate. Nina Ramos is amazing and they get along so well. Morgan has great skills working as a bartender. Morgan does not expect Luke to make advances on her at the bar. One thing leads to another, and she finds herself inviting her to the house. Her and Nina have a get together. It goes well. The one thing that doesn’t is what happens next. Luke isn’t who he says he is. Morgan is devastated to say the least. Her friend is gone. So she moves back home with her mom, and grandmother. A fresh new start. That’s when she meets, and falls hard for Miles Jameson. He’s the boss of the place she’s working now. He’s the best. The only thing is the man you ruined her life is still out there, and the FBI are still searching for him.
I highly recommend this book. I was at the edge of my seat reading this book. I felt at times Miles was a little bit of a jerk.
I also didn’t understand why Morgan kept calling her mom, and grandmother “her ladies” or “my ladies”. Something to that effect.
It was bizarre. Overall is was an amazing book. I loved the ending.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read it. I also bought a copy of this book. I’ll be sharing this book.
"Identity" by Nora Roberts is a gripping blend of romance and suspense that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story follows Morgan Albright, a resilient woman whose life is upended by a cunning identity thief. Roberts masterfully weaves a tale of survival and new beginnings, balancing heart-pounding tension with moments of tender romance. With well-drawn characters and an engaging plot, "Identity" is a compelling read that showcases Roberts' skill in combining emotional depth with thrilling twists. Perfect for fans of both romance and suspense, this novel is a testament to Roberts' storytelling prowess.
I barely made it through this one, but I wish I had just DNF'd. The chapters were waaaay too long. The dialogue was annoying. Parts were written in a sort of shorthand with incomplete sentences. The majority of the book was filled with too many mundane day to day details, conversations, and family meetings, that nobody cares about. The person who was speaking was not always identified, which was confusing. The "my ladies" thing? Ugh. Who talks like that? Just weird. And if my husband ever talked to me the way Miles talks to Morgan, we'd have a serious problem. The only part I enjoyed was the Gavin parts which took up maybe 5% of the book. I definitely needed more of that.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this eARC.
3.5 stars rounded up for GR
I liked this one. I've read a number of Nora Roberts' romance and fantasy romance series, but this is the first thriller of hers I've read. I'd say this one reads much more like a romance with a few thriller elements than a true thriller, but I enjoyed it anyway. The thriller wasn't boring, but it didn't hold my attention - there wasn't anything unique about it really. I liked the romance story of a woman finding a new way forward after an incredible tragedy that she blames herself for.
I always find that Roberts' characters all sound the same, and that holds true here as well. I still ended up liking the characters - both the FMC & MMC as well as the grandma, who was my favorite.
A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
"Identity" by Nora Roberts is a captivating romantic thriller that showcases Roberts' mastery of the genre. While the plot may follow some familiar tropes, Roberts' rich characterizations and expertly crafted suspense ensure that readers are kept on the edge of their seats until the final revelation.
This was my first Nora Robert’s novel, and I wasn’t expecting it to be like an episode of Criminal Minds! I really enjoyed it!
In a nutshell, Morgan has been working to build the life she wants, when she lets the wrong person in. Robert’s does a great job of setting the scene and having you get to know the characters. As a romantic suspense, I enjoyed the cozy, small town vibes and building romance, mixed in with tension that goes along with the suspense side. This was a pretty long book, maybe a tad too long, but I would still describe this as moving quickly. Overall, this was really enjoyable and I will definitely pick up Robert’s backlist!
Thank you St. Martin’s Press for the copy through NetGalley in exchange for a review.
Just as Morgan has made a home for herself in Baltimore, everything is destroyed by a con-man who burglarizes their home and kills Nina in the process. The FBI tell Morgan this is a pattern and warn her she is in danger as someone who can identify this man, who is known as Gavin. Reluctantly, Morgan moves to Vermont where her mother and grandmother live, and gets a new job and a hot new boyfriend. But she can't relax knowing that Gavin is out there and planning to come after her.
This was a fast-paced suspense novel with a melancholy aspect to it. Morgan feels terrible guilt at Nina's death. It doesn't stop her from beginning a relationship with Miles, whose family owns the local resort where Morgan works. I was a little turned off that Morgan is so blunt about wanting just a physical relationship with him but never fear, it turns romantic on both sides, just in time for a HEA once Gavin is trapped.
Good book. I liked the characters and the dialogue. The story kept me interested, so it was a great read as is every nora Roberts book. A good read
Having recently finished the previously published “Identity" by Nora Roberts, I am happy to have had the chance to read the Advanced Reader’s Edition e-copy; thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press!
The gorgeous cover art and synopsis drew me to request this book. Unfortunately, there seemed to be very little thriller and far too much filler for my enjoyment of this long and drawn out story. An overabundance of “her ladies”... “your ladies”... “the ladies” and “my ladies” moments scattered throughout the text, had THIS lady more than ready for the final page.
This is my first Nora Roberts novel. I had this in my ‘tbr’ shelf for a long time but I kept skipping it & just could not get into it. I finally made myself read it (to be done with it) but I really struggled with it throughout. The writing is not my style. It was kind of repetitive which is one of my pet peeves when reading a book. The pacing was also off. It took a long time for things to get interesting. The relationship with Miles felt like it appeared out of thin air. I didn't get a spark or a connection, it just didn't work.
The book could have been much shorter. My main issue was that I felt no connection between the main characters. I understood it was supposed to be there based on what was said, but I could not feel it. I did like the concept of the story though. But this overall was a miss for me unfortunately.
Thank you to Netgalley, Nora Roberts and St. Martin’s Press for letting me read "Identity" in exchange for an honest review. NetGalley & St Martin’s I appreciate you so ☺️
This was such a good book! I'm a huge fan of Nora's works as JD Robb (the In Death series is my favorite EVERRRRR), but I haven't read much from Nora as....well, Nora! This book reminds me of why I should - the characters, storyline, romance, all get an A+ from me. 5 glorious stars, and I can't wait to dive into her backlog!
You can not go wrong with any book by Nora Roberts. She is a .aster of suspense and drama. I highly recommend books by this author and this one is spectacular.
