Identity by Nora Roberts is as always an awesome book!! I got caught up from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until after reading the very last page. There’s something about how Ms Roberts writes that makes you feel like you are right there in the story as you read it. The descriptions are spectacular to where you can almost see the scene, smell and taste the food and drinks and enjoy the friendships. Identity theft, murders, and a psychopath keep you reading to find out what happens, but you also have family, friendship, and love that keeps you wanting for the good guys (girl) to make it over the top. The way Ms Roberts weaves a story keeps you entertained with nail biting suspense, chilling details, and eventually a HEA you’ve been rooting for since the beginning. You get to watch the main character grow into themselves, to find out who and how strong they really are.
Absolutely loved this story and highly recommend.
I loved this book. It’s got a slow start but the tension really builds. The characters are great, they come to life with lots of details. The story touch's on a hard subject, it’s hard to read some of the details but it’s well done. I loved the ending. #Identity #NetGalley
I've been a fan of Nora Roberts for a long time. She writes really good romance novels. I think this one is her best so far this year. It had a lot of twists and turns but had a really good ending to it. I am grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review
The book was giving everything that I would want from a Nora Roberts stand alone. A heroine with a plan, check. A traumatic incident that disrupts her plans in a way that she didn’t expect, check. A new beginning, check. A love interest that she didn’t plan on, check. And a big finale where she and her new love defeat the big evil together, check. While the story “felt” like some of her others, it still rates as five stars because it had everything I come to Nora Roberts for—an escape from the day to day into a story with characters that seem familiar with just enough of a twist in the story to keep me coming back till the book is done. Some may not like it for that very reason, but if you’re looking for a light read with plenty of story behind it to escape into, this is a good one.

After a childhood spent traveling from army base to army base, Morgan Albright wants nothing more than to set down roots. To that end, she works two jobs, saves her money, buys a cute bungalow she can call her own, and brings in a boarder, Nina, to help with costs. The women soon become best friends and life seems good- maybe too good?
In her job as a bartender, Morgan meets all types of humanity, and she loves the challenge but isn't looking for any relationships. When a handsome stranger lays on the charm she laughs it off, but when he asks her out for a casual pizza, she decides 'what's the harm?' and takes him up on the offer. A few dates later she invites him to dinner, only to learn later how horrible a monster she has allowed into her home.
Returning from work a few days later, Morgan is stunned to find the backdoor broken, her car and jewelry gone, and her best friend beaten to death. But the crime doesn't stop there. She soon learns her identity has been stolen. He opened credit cards in her name and ran them up, emptied her savings account, took high interest loans against her house, and left her penniless. When two FBI agents show up on her doorstep, Morgan is shocked to learn the person behind the murder/swingles is the man she's been dating, and Nina was not the intended target- she was!
Devastated, and with no other options, Morgan leaves her jobs and returns to her grandmother's home in Vermont. It takes time, but she slowly begins to get her feet under her. She finds a good job, meets a new man, a good man, and reconnects with her estranged mother, but the psychopath isn't done with her yet. Will Morgan survive his next assault?
This book started out a bit slow for me. It centers on Morgan's life and her friends, gently fleshing out a happy, peaceful life like a fresh spring breeze, but then the attack hits out of nowhere and my heart stopped! After that I was hooked, lol. The relationship between Morgan and Miles (her new beau) reminds me of another favorite couple, Eve and Roarke from J. D. Robb's futuristic police procedural series. Morgan is just as fiercely independent, and Miles could be Roarke's swoon-worthy alter-ego :)
Overall, an excellent read!
I liked the storyline, the character development and the outcome. There is fluff in the middle of the book which I've come to expect but it was interesting and didn't detour me from reading to the end. Ms. Roberts books have a standard outline and this book didn't deviate from her writing style. Read this book for the pure enjoyment of reading a complete tale. My thanks to Net Galley for allowing me a sneek preview to this work.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I have been a Nora Roberts fan for over 20 years and the several years, it's been a bit of a hit or miss with her work. But IDENTITY was so so so good! Loved it from the first page, and finished it in one day, I couldn't put it down!
I loved the storyline and the characters. Everything just really fell into place and she really developed Morgan so beautifully. Loved the connection between 2 generations of women, learning to rebuild themselves as individuals and together. The bonds of family and friendship.
I loved how this romantic suspense was a bit of a slow burn. It gave us time to really be invested in each of the characters in the book.
I can't say enough good things about this. Thank you NetGalley and Publisher (ST. Martin Press) for this ARC
There is not much that I can add that others have not already said. It's Nora Roberts after all. This was a gripping, suspenseful, and beautifully written book. I am so grateful to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me this advanced copy. 5 stars all the way.
Identity by Nora Roberts is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The story follows Morgan Albright, a former Army brat who has finally found a place to call home in Baltimore. But her world is shattered when she hosts a dinner party, and her friend Nina is murdered by a con artist named Gavin, who had been posing as Luke, the IT guy from the bar.
What follows is a terrifying game of cat and mouse as Morgan becomes Gavin's next target. She is forced to flee to Vermont to start over, but even there, she can't escape his grasp. Along the way, she meets Miles Jameson, who seems too good to be true.
Roberts does an excellent job of building tension throughout the book, keeping readers guessing about what will happen next. The characters are well-drawn and believable, making it easy to empathize with Morgan's plight. The plot twists and turns are expertly executed, leaving you breathless as you try to figure out how everything will end.
Overall, Identity is an excellent read for fans of suspenseful thrillers (with a bit of romance). Roberts proves once again why she is one of the best writers in this genre, delivering a story that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page.
Another 10/10 Nora Roberts winner! I absolutely love how she can create these amazing standalone books and manage to have all of the characters be so well developed. Many authors need an entire series to create the in depth characters that Ms. Roberts does in a single book and I find that very commendable and one reason why I adore her books. (Although I would absolutely NOT be disappointed in at least one spin off book so we can see what happens with Nell and Liam and their respective love lives, as well as if Audrey and the sommelier ever get together!)
Morgan is such a resilient and strong character. I love how she doesn’t let tragedy break her, but instead uses it to become even stronger. Her grandmother Olivia and mother Audrey are phenomenal supportive characters that both comfort her, yet allow her to find her place in her new home with them in Vermont. And then we have the Jameson clan. Each of them is so unique and the way they accept Morgan and allow her to work for them even though she is dealing with an insane amount of stress was beautiful, and other employees at the resort such as Opal, Bailey, Nick and Jen to name a few are also integral to Morgan’s healing and her strength. I also really enjoyed both FBI agents and liked how Beck seemed to have a sixth sense on what Rozwell would do, which definitely came in handy towards the end!
This is a fantastic book and I can’t wait to encourage both friends and my local library to get this book ASAP!
As usual, I will die on the hill that every Nora Roberts book is good – nobody can change my mind and that's that! I love knowing that I'm going to enjoy each and every release from her and that I'm going to get my HEA no matter the path taken to arrive there.
This story follows the usual annual release pattern in that it's written in the tone and cadence of JD Robb, and there's a suspense aspect to the story. These are always some of my favorite of Nora's books and this was no exception! Morgan's character development was really lovely, and I enjoyed all the side character arcs we got here, too. Side character development isn't always necessary, but it felt right here and very much in line with what we saw from Morgan's story.
I looooved this one, and you won't be disappointed if you're a Nora fan!
Identity by Nora Roberts is one remarkable romance suspense novel.
I found myself totally absorbed in this compelling and intriguing story .
The suspense was brilliantly done, and never felt over the top.
Excellent plotting, dialogue, relationship and character development throughout the story.
From beginning to end I thoroughly enjoyed
this story. And for this to be my first NR read what feels like forever I’m very happy. And I’m looking forward to reading more of her stand-alone novels.

Mein Leseerlebnis

OMG LOVED this book!!!!! I was gifted an ARC of this book through NetGalley. Identity was a great mix of romance, suspense, mystery, and family bonding! There was never a dull moment, it sucked you in from the beginning and never let go. The main characters and the supporting characters were well written, it felt like you were right there with them! Definitely would read a sequel to this if she chose to write one.
Identity by Nora Roberts lives up to what one would expect from such a prolific writer. Suspenseful yet a fun read makes this a perfect romantic suspense novel.
Morgan Albright has her life planned out. She's working two jobs so she can afford her own home and build toward her dream of owning her own neighborhood pub. Unforately for her, the interesting man she recently met has other plans. He seems perfect but within weeks, he's destroyed everying. With her tail tucked between her legs, she heads home to her mother and grandmother. Gradually she gets her life back in order but the past has a way of creeping back up. And in this case, the creep has made her his target once again.
If you are looking for a well written, romantic suspense novel that will at times have you on the edge of your seat, rush out and get this novel. You won't regret it for a moment.
Wow, wow, wow! Nora Roberts simply does not disappoint! I was on the edge of my seat with her latest novel Identity! I went into Identity completely blind—I highly recommend everyone do the same! This gem melds the mystery/suspense and romance genres to create an unputdownable masterpiece! The combination of these genres I find can be tricky, but I am always amazed how well Nora executes it. The storyline is extremely well thought out and the pacing is lighten fast— completely enthralling the entire way through! I really enjoyed this 5 star novel so much and I highly recommend everyone put it at the top of your summer reading list!
I was thrilled to receive an invitation to read Nora Roberts upcoming release, Identity. I devoured the book in a day and then reread it to make sure I didn't miss anything in my excitement to read it.
I read all of Nora's books, and some I love more than others. There are those that I reread and/or listen to on a regular basis (The Witness, The Liar, The Obsession, Undercurrents, and Hideaway to name a few), and those I bought and read once. This is one that will be reread and definitely purchased in audiobook format.
I really liked Morgan and MIles and all of the secondary characters including Morgan's mother and grandmother, and Miles' family. The story brings you through a devasting event, that results in a life path change for Morgan. It turns out to be a path she didn't know she wanted to take. I enjoyed seeing Morgan discover the person her mother is and her no-nonsense grandmother is a hoot. Miles and all of his family are wonderful, making Morgan's new path a little easier.
The mystery and suspense come with how the bad guy also ended up on a path he didn't want to take and discovering the effects of his new route and how he is going to be caught.
This one I liked a lot. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martins Press, and Nora Roberts for the eARC.
I'm a huge Nora Roberts fan and have read most of her books (including the JD Robb In Death series). While the premise follows the general romantic suspense formula, I found this one had the extra twist of the heroine actually, through her self defence lessons, able to pretty much save herself and not rely so heavily on the hero. For me, this was an enjoyable read and I, as always, look forward to upcoming books.
Ripped from the pages of newspapers Nora Roberts has crafted a story that equally charms and creeps you out. A young woman with a plan for her life, two jobs, small starter house, good close friend, and savings for her plans sees it all wiped out in what feels like an instant. Someone stole her identity, wiped out her savings, and destroyed her sense of well-being.
There are lyrics to an old song that came to my mind. Pick yourself up, dust off your boots and start all over again.
Morgan is lucky she survived this targeted attack on her. She was supposed to be dead. In IDENTITY Nora Roberts pulls no punches on just how devastating having your life stolen. Probably one of the hardest books I have ever read, just because it has such a ring of truth to it. Would not expect anything less from the Nora Roberts. Anticipate amazing and thought provoking. In IDENTITY Nora Robert delivers a literary one two punch. Teaches you along the way. Certainly reminds you to be more mindful of your vulnerability.
Morgan, left with nothing heads home to her mother and grandmother in Vermont. They worked as a team developing a sound business in a resort town. They both welcome Morgan home, saddened by her experience but happy to have their girl back with them. These three women are remarkably close and now they are rebuilding their relationship. Lovely as are most of the characters we will meet and get to know in this monstrously scary novel.
Morgan now works for the Jameson family as a manager of the bar with a whole host of other responsibilities. All she is fully capable of performing to their satisfaction and delight. In fact this family adopts Morgan as one of their own. Morgan has never had a family like the Jameson’s. It has been just her, grandma, and mother.
When word is out that the monster that had targeted Morgan is at work again everyone in her new world steps up to the bat to protect her. Or more specifically help her to protect herself. But do not kid yourself, this group has become an army determined to protect their own Morgan and stop this monster.
The monster has a routine. Get the attention of his new target. Get into her personal records. Kill her. Drain her assets. Disappear. Morgan has been his only failure. She is still alive, something he means to rectify.
As a fan of Nora Robert’s for more years than I can count I am always on the lookout for a new novel. IDENTITY is pure Nora Robert’s on steroids.
Conversations between Miles Jameson and his siblings, in particular his sister Nell are the best I have read in ages. Had me laughing out loud and warmed my internal fuzzy spot for sure. Nora Roberts wrote a list of must haves in her new book IDENTITY and checked them off and she went. There is a protracted sense of urgency through the entire book. But Nora Robert adeptly inserts moments of levity that is needed so you, and the characters can take needed breaths.
Be prepared to be enthralled and unable to put this book down. It is riveting and I am going to let you enjoy the ride.
Years ago I used to love Nora Roberts’ books. They’re not bad at this point, but they have started to get to the point where they feel formulaic, coming together off a suspense or fantasy storyline. In Identity, it’s the former, with Morgan being a military brat and the child of a broken home. When her best friend is killed by a serial killer that had targeted Morgan, she eventually ends up in picturesque Vermont starting over with her mother and grandmother. Naturally she ends up as a bar manager for a major family enterprise in the community, where she’s welcomed with mostly open arms. Miles, the oldest son of the third generation of Jamesons, also naturally, welcomes her with more than just open arms. But I never really got into the romance between them, maybe because it didn’t feel like there was a whole lot of chemistry between the pair. It more felt like it just made sense for them to hook up, so they did. The book also tends to run very dialogue heavy at points-with a rapid fire choppiness that didn’t align with the rest of the book’s cadence. I also wasn’t a big fan of the different POCs beyond Morgan’s, especially that of Gavin, the serial killer. The writing from his POV feels amateurish. All that being said, there were still positives to this book. The evolution of Morgan during the book is great. Understandably, she’s upset, scared, frustrated and overwhelmed after Nina is killed. But as time moves on she moves on as well, and becomes both confident and empowered to live her life, even as Gavin continues to taunt her from a distance. She also has her moment when the story reaches its climax. With the direction it was leaning, Roberts could have ended it differently, but I’m glad she gave it the ending she did. This is by no means a dazzling literary work, but it’s perfectly suited for a throwaway beach read. A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
