Gillian Archer knocks it out of the park again!! I have seriously got to make it my life's mission to read every book she has published. This is the slow burn you didn't realize you needed!

"Fighting for King" by Gillian Archer is a gritty and intense romance that follows two strong-willed individuals as they navigate the challenges of love amidst the backdrop of the fighting world.

It's been a while since I have read a Gillian Archer book and I missed Falling For Rome, but this is easily read as a stand alone. All Kingston Grier, superhero actor, (I stopped watching the Marvel movies when they went WOKE, so have no idea who is playing Captain America now) really cares about is his daughter, Zoe. He needs a nanny who is not an unemployed actress trying to get into his bed. Briar St Clair, with an BA in childhood education and an MA in teaching, is coming off a horrible divorce and living back home in her parent's house. Her BBF, Lyla, works for a placement company, and Lyla thinks that Blair would be the perfect nanny for Zoe. The lucrative position would pay off her student loans and help her with some medical issues. Neither King or Blair are looking for a relationship, but they are just so cute together that they can't fight the attraction. As they create their own little Gan Eden for Zoe, a snake, ironically by the name of Adam tries to destroy their paradise. The characters are all very endearing, especially Zoe, and the writing is marvelous as always.

I read an ARC offered by the publisher via NetGalley. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Blair and King. Blair is a pre-school teacher. King is an actor and father of 2 year old. There is an instant attraction when they meet. King needs a nanny for Zoe. He is in a movie that requires lots of his time. Blair is everything that Zoe needs in a nanny. They both have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

Hollywood hunk Kingston needs a nanny who will only look after his daughter instead of coming on to him. He has been going through so many nannies when he was introduced to another one, he didn't expect anything and she looked like all the other wannabe actress until he saw her how she was interacting with his daughter. He couldn't let her pass by so he had all the paper work ready to go and have her start working right away.
Briar swore off men ever since her divorce. Her husband's betrayal cut deep and she wasn't looking for another relationship anytime soon. When her best friend offered her a nanny job she wasn't really thinking until how much it would pay. This could be perfect for summer and maybe this could better than working as preschool teacher.
Kingston was a grumpy boss but he never bothered her and she saw how he interacted with his daughter and it was fine by her.
Finally Briar and Kingston found their groove and things were heating up but things will take left turn when paparazzi starts hounding her and his daughter. Rumor starts regarding Briar and things are heating up as well in the house as well.
Will Kingston and Briar find their happily ever after... This book could be standalone. Her other brother (#1) wasn't in it as much as his younger brother Phoenix. He seems like a next one and he won my heart on this one. He was so much better on this one, I wonder who he will end up with.
Thanks to Netgalley and Author ARC.

Love the Grier brothers. King made brief appearances in Roman's book but is such a great character. Looking forward to reading Phoenix's story.

ARC received for review

King's had a lot of heartache between his parents, his ex, his MIL, but that little cutie makes up for a lot of it. King and Briar's love story has slow burn with great chemistry. Loved the epilogue and seeing Rome again. I really need Nix to get his act together before his book cause right now I still don't like him.

Gillian is a new to me author! This is the second book in the three book series.

This one follows Kingston - a heart throb movie star. He is a single dad who can’t seem to find a qualified nanny, who just wants to be a nanny. Then we met Briar - a masters degree holding preschool teacher fresh off a divorce.

I loved this book. They really dove into the characters, backgrounds and complex secondary characters. All sorts of crazy family dynamics.

Highly recommend! Looking forward to reading some other books from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Opposites attract, nanny, celebrity, forbidden romance. This is following King, we met him in his brother's book, Falling for Rome and I was pumped for his book. This guy, has ben dealt with so much but he's gotten the most precious little girl out of a tumultuous relationship. He also needs a nanny who is trustworthy and who would put his daughter first. Enter Briar, who also has had a rough couple of long months. The more they spend time together, they are falling but Briar needs to resist right? She doesn't want to fall in the typical category which will pretty much follow her badly through her career. But, how do you resist a guy who is full of life, a big Hollywood star who also has fallen hard for his daughters nanny. What can they do about this situation?

I really liked this story, nothing over the top drama, just an enjoyable story with a celeb and a normal gal who he is developing a HUGE crush for!!!!!!

Falling in love with your kid's nanny love story. This is even better than the first book in the series. Kingston and Briar are very likable and make a lovely couple. I love how their relationship slowly develops especially I love how the last twist develops.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

I loved this! Briar and Kingston have amazing chemistry and there’s plenty of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I felt the ending was kind of abrupt but I would still give it 5 stars!

I took a few hours extra to finish this book because I was re-reading most of the lines again and again. The author has just sculpted the characters so beautifully.

KINGSTON - The Male Character is a famous Hollywood star. He's also playing a very important role in his daughter's (Zoe) life. She's his priority. I indeed loved how he managed to come out from his fear of betrayal and trust Briar (His girl forever) It's for sure not easy to trust anyone when your mom and the woman who gave birth to your child has betrayed you. The author paying attention to emotions of each situation he had to deal with was something I didn't find in many books so far.

BRIAR - The Female Character has always been the one who admired working with little children. Initially she came for Zoe to be her nanny but later she started to fight for king and that's when we understand the title of the book. When her ex-husband broke her heart by leaving her and going behind her friend. The Fidelity issue she had with her ex husband was drafted in the perfect manner with the right mix of words. She had no faith over another man. But then again when she allowed herself to trust King was making me hope that he would never break her heart. She definitely deserved the best and he was her best.

Tropes:-
Star/Celebrity Hero
Cute Heroine
Nanny-Boss
Single Dad
Miscarriage/Fertility issue

The writer has brought out the serious topic of fertility issue in an extraordinary stating there are still many better ways to have a child. The 'Epilogue' was so lovely and I really hoped to see more of 'Wynter' their next daughter. Definitely I'm silently buring to wait for Phoenix.

Thank you so much @netgalley and @gilliarcher for handing over the ARC of this book. Here's my honest review in return to show my gratitude.

So excited for this series to continue! After getting to know a little bit of Kingston and his background, I was so excited to know that his book was next! After a disastrous divorce with a lot of resentment, Briar is starting over and not sure where to start. When a friend recommends her to take a nanny position as a way to get money to start a family of her own, she is hesitant but ends up taking the interview, and her life changes forever. Unable to keep a nanny that is more focused on his daughter rather than him, Kingston is frustrated and isn’t interested in Briar, assuming she’s just like the others. But when they meet and she’s more focused on his daughter, he moves forward with hiring her, despite the feelings he initially feels for her. As they get to know each other, we see both of these characters let their guards down with each other, even when Briar doesn’t with Kingston’s assistant, and they decide to keep things casual, which turns somewhat messy. This book was a wild ride – even though I saw the big blowup coming, I was still surprised, even though it’s something that happens probably often in that world. I’m so happy that things work out for this couple though, and we also get the added benefit and story of Kingston making amends with his mother. Can’t wait to get the next book in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Fighting for King follows Briar, a recently-divorced teacher, and King, a single dad and famous Hollywood actor, who hires Briar to be the nanny to his infant daughter Zoe.

Zoe is the star of this book, and my heart wanted to melt every time I read her babble or wave around her stuffed toy Bunny. I found the relationship between Briar and King to be very realistic, with miscommunications stemming from their flaws and past relationship experiences. However, I did feel like the characters didn’t really grow from being together, and they had recurring miscommunications. All in all, I think this was a solid book depicting a realistic relationship between two flawed and damaged adults!

Briar's divorced and has moved back in with her parents when her best friend convinces her to interview for a nanny position. She'd be perfect for it - she's been teaching little ones, has gotten her Master's, and is the last person who'd want to come onto her potential new boss, Hollywood good guy Kingston Grier. Unfortunately, upon meeting him, she can tell he doesn't like her, so is completely surprised to find him offering her the position. But make no mistake, Kingston isn't offering her anything but the job of nannying his daughter.

I enjoyed this book because it tells us a realistic story of what it feels to be in the Hollywood scene, with the paparazzi and the fear of living your life in the public eye.

But make no mistake, Kingston isn't offering her anything but the job of nannying his daughter. There will be no sliding past that line. Right?

Kingston wanted a nanny who wouldn't sell him out to the tabloids, one who wouldn't try to end up in his bed, who would concentrate on his daughter. So why does the very fact that Briar's only interested in Zoe bother him so much?! He cannot, will not, be that guy. The one perving on his new nanny. Right?

I love the nanny trope when the nanny is really all about the child, and not angling for more with the dad, at least at first. And that's one of the reasons why I like this story so much - Briar is such a great character, so good with Zoe, and really fell in love with her before she even thought about liking Kingston. Kingston ends up being a great character after he gets over his grumpypants phase, and then when his daddy of the year side shown through, yeah that's when I saw why Briar fell for him. There are some great secondary characters too, now I'm really looking forward to Kingston's brother Nix's story next *hint hint!*

4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the series. One of the things I loved about this book was how much King loves his daughter. It truly warmed my heart. That man will do anything to protect and care for his daughter. In his line of work it's so hard to trust anyone, but Briar the new nanny makes it fell all too easy once he gets to know her. Briar is so good with little Zoe. Zoe steals the show. She's so adorable and she will melt your heart. Briar has gone through some hard times herself and if anyone deserves to have she dreams of it's her. It's going to be hard not to become a cliché, but you can't deny the chemistry between King and Briar. There is plenty of heart and emotion along with heat. It's a great story that will have you gobble up the pages.

Fighting King (ARC aesthetic)

Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I absolutely love this book and the characters. I'm always in a mood for a good single parent book and this was it. Kingston and Briar are such a wonderful couple, with heartbreaking pasts and a future that doesn't seem so bright in their opinion. When Briar starts working as Kingston daughter's nanny their chemistry and lust can't be contained. They try hard not to give in but the truth is that they can't. Watching Briar bond with little Zoe and being a mother figure for her is too beautiful. Kingston is an amazing dad and even if his job as an actor is too demanding he always is there for his daughter. We watch these two get their second chance. Kingston needed Briar as much as she did and watching them fall in love and having their happily ever after was what I was rooting for and was happy to receive it. A must read in my opinion
