Synopsis: Kingston Grier is a handsome famous actor and single father struggling to find a nanny for his daughter Zoe, that will focus on Zoe and not trying to jump his bones. When Briar arrives, he has finally found a nanny who is there for Zoe. Briar is recently divorced and is struggling with her share of trust issues. While she knows King is hot and an amazing actor, she believes he has no personality. But his daughter on the other hand has an amazing personality. Little does she know he is hiding his personality to keep her at arms length because he struggles with his attraction to her and his own trust issues. Somehow King and Briar went from never talking to talking all night. And now their attraction is impossible to deny, what will they do when intimate pictures are leaked and the fallout is insane?

Thoughts: My guilty pleasure is nanny/single dad trope and this book was well done! I really loved both Briar and Kings backstories, Briar’s sad backstory really made me want to give her a big hug. I did love that she wasn’t like the 19-20s age that usually happens in nanny/single dad trope, she is divorced and in her thirties which I appreciated. I am not sure I have ever read a romance that discussed IVF, which was something new for me. It made my heart ache for Briar, who wants to be a mom. I really enjoyed this book! I recommend it for anyone that wants an entertaining and emotional read.

This book includes:
-slow-burn
-single dad
-nanny and single dad

I really enjoyed this. It’s my first Gillian Archer and probably won’t be my last.
The banter was funny, the kid was adorable, Briar’s parents were the bomb!
I received an advance copy via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

“When I signed up for this job, I knew I’d do anything to protect Zoe- I just never expected how much I’d want to fight for King.”

Thank you Gillian Archer and NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest review. “Fighting for King” is the second book in the “Star Studded” series, but can be read as a stand-alone book. Publication Day is on November 17, 2022.

Actor Kingston Grier has been though nanny after nanny trying to find someone who will focus on his daughter, Zoe, instead of focusing on trying to get into his bed. Finally he finds someone who is perfect for the job. The only problem? He can’t keep his eyes off of her. Briar St. Clair’s divorce left her with more than her share of trust issues. Yet she finds herself going from barely talking to her boss to talking to him all night long. When scandals pictures are released of the two and the fallout is more than expected. When Briar took the job she knew she pull do anything to protect Zoe, but now she finds herself wanting to fight for King too.

“Fighting for King” is a fast paced, dual POV romance. The characters were lovable and I devoured this book. It was such a cute an easy read. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a lighthearted romance. I gave “Fight for King” 4 ⭐️’s.

Gillian has written a fun romance that grabbed me from the first page and I found myself reading it straight through. I loved Briar and her determination to get out and make it on her own after her divorce. That she found her nanny position AND met Kingston, he totally became her Captain America.
Cannot wait for Gillian to write Nix’s story!

Sweet, sexy and oh so satisfying! The second book in Gillian Archer's Star Studded series brings us Kingston's story and it's extra yummy. Great chemistry, endearing characters and so many feel good moments. I can't wait for Phoenix's story!

King is a loving father and a successful actor, but his family drama has him at his wits ends. I enjoyed watching him let his guard down with Briar and finally find the happiness he deserves.

Briar is a sweetheart just looking for some peace in her life again after drama with her ex.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a bit of Hollywood's rich and famous taking a walk into the real world and facing it's ups and downs on their way to happily ever after.

With my review of Falling for Rome, I put my money on King being my favorite. So how did he stack up? I fell for Rome, but would I fight for King? Let’s find out!

What I liked about the book:
1. Similar to book one, this sequel had fantastic writing. Gillian Archer is a pro at creating genuine and lovable heroines you want to be BFFs with and flawed heroes you can’t help but want more of.

Briar had all of my love from the beginning with her sad backstory. This woman had went through two things I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, and yet still maintained kindness and a hopeful attitude. I also loved that she was a divorced, older (as in, not nineteen) heroine.

We’ll get to King in a bit, but he was not the main man for me in this one. I mean, obviously, yes, he was the MMC, but he is not the one who stood out and made me want more. That honor goes to…NIX! Which I can’t believe after the hate I had for him in book 1! With him finally being clean, him helping to mend the battles in their family, and his “help” to Briar, he had me seeing him in a new light. Dare I say, I think he’ll be my favorite Grier brother? UGGGHHHH, no matter how hard I try these bad boys just keep finding me! 😉

2. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine, but I really like the nanny/employer trope and this one was done well.

I liked how Briar was actually competent at her job because of her background in teaching. I also liked that the couple wasn’t thrown together 24/7 like a lot of less-preferable nanny/employer trope books I’ve read. And, of course, there’s the perk of an adorable child! Though, I did like that the book definitely didn’t shy away from the struggles of watching a toddler all day, because let’s be real, it’s not all giggles and rainbows.

3. I liked the additional people we met in this one so much that I wasn’t even that mad that Rome and Sophia weren’t in it much.

Briar’s parents are hilarious, especially with King being one of her mom’s celebrity hall passes... AWKWARD! But hilarious!

Mak is the strong, silent type buddy you know has a lot going on under the surface. He definitely served as the swift kick in the butt to the couple everyone needs every once in a while.

And lastly, I actually liked Joyce (King’s mom). She was understanding, warm, and seemed to be the only one that could keep Nix in line. Despite her history, I couldn’t help but trust her this time around.

4. King is supposed to be the actor who plays Captain America, so of course I immediately think of my future baby daddy Chris Evans. Point? That cover is spot on! Great job whoever decided on that cover because you nailed the sexiest man alive look.

What could have been better:
1. I was a little underwhelmed with King, but I think that’s because of my high hopes going into the sequel. Don’t get me wrong, he was great once he wasn’t so prickly. Unfortunately, I think the best term to describe him for the first half of the book is off-putting, which is not a glowing recommendation. I’m all for the grumpy x sunshine trope, but that wasn’t really what happened in this book either. He was just…off-putting.

2. I feel like another thing the books in this series have in common so far are bad best friends. I didn’t care for Molly in book 1, and I definitely didn’t care for Lyla in this one. I feel with how genuine the FMCs are in this series they deserve better.

Final Thoughts:
I would verbally spar, for King; I would fight for Briar.

Final Rating: 4 don’t sleep on this beauty stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Gillian Archer for the free copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Check it out on pub day November 17!

Kingston and Briar's story is another great romance from Gillian Archer. Fame and fortune doesn't allow for a normal life, but King and Briar break all stereotypes with their love.
Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review and opinion.

I love a good nanny romance. King is such a good dad and I loved seeing that and watching Briar bond with Zoe. Their relationship moved very fast at the end but I had such a good time.

I received an arc through netgalley.

I enjoyed reading this story about Briar and Kingston. He's just looking for a nanny that will put his daughter first, not try jumping his bones. Briar was perfect for the job until he started to think differently about her. When the two become friends then tension gets high. There was romance, family drama and my favorite.....a happy ending.

I loved this book so much. Its a nanny romance and the hero, King is a very hot movie star. But it was so romantic, sweet and hot and I adored it so much. It is book 2 in a series but easily stands alone. I enjoyed the first book but this book was even better and so much fun. I loved Briar and King. They were both such awesome characters and I loved how they became friends first and then decided what they wanted to be when their attraction became apparent. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I appreciated that there was pretty much no fighting between King and Briar. They were very adult about everything that came up and handled it then and didn't let it fester. I expected a lot of drama because this book is about an actor and his nanny. Not so, King saved the drama for the big screen.

i got this Arc from NetGalley but all opinions are my own :)
Omg this book had me from the first page ! i could not put it down !!!!
this book was sweet and sexy and i freaking loved it :)

I totally loved Briar ,she is such a great character ,the moment she meets King she totally thinks he hates her and he kinda does but once they get to know one another they have such a connection ,they both have relationship baggage and are not looking to get involved but they can't fight what is happening between them and i love love loved every second of it :) i felt so bad for Briar and everything her ex put her though but i loved that King was there for her :)

Omg King is so smoken' hot ! i love how much he cares about his daughter and that no matter what he always put's her first ! he is such a great dad ,i totally get why he's Leary of someone new coming into his life but i thought it was so great that he ends up building such a strong relationship with Briar ,i could see why he would be gun shy after everything that happened with his ex but the fact that he doesn't push Briar away and he is finally able to open up to her was so great !

I really enjoyed this book and i just wanted more ! i can not wait to read more from Gillian Archer !

Nanny romance

Briar has been a teacher her whole career but when the opportunity comes for her to be able to be a nanny and pay for her IVF dreams she can't pass it up which is how she ends up being Zoe's nanny and working for Kingston. As much as King doesn't want to he finds himself drawn to Briar, she's beautiful and she is amazing with Zoe and the two strike up a friends with benefits situation that escalates to more.

I really enjoyed this one, it was a quick read the only thing that I wish would've been different is the ending, it happened so abruptly that I felt like there was more to their story.

What happens when two people get burned?

In the second book in the Star Studded series we get Kingston and Briar’s story. Probably two of the nicest people with little trust left in opposite sex. When he hires Briar to be the nanny of the sweetest toddler Kingston discovers that maybe this incredible woman might find love not only for himself but what he always wanted for his daughter. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: Kingston: Who knew it would be such a challenge finding a nanny who could focus on my daughter without getting sidetracked by trying to get into my bed? I can’t even make eye contact without them thinking I’m flirting. I’m not.

Until Briar arrives, and finally we have a nanny who’s there for Zoe. But why does this Mary Poppins have to be so damn hot?

Briar: My divorce left me with more than my share of trust issues. Not that I’m looking at my new boss that way. Kingston might be a Hollywood hunk, but the guy has the personality of a potato. His daughter couldn’t be more different. One look into her doe eyes, and I am in love.

Somehow Kingston and I go from barely speaking to talking all night long. And our attraction becomes impossible to deny. Just when everything’s finally going right, intimate pictures of us are leaked and the fallout is insane. When I signed up for this job, I knew I’d do anything to protect Zoe—I just never expected how much I’d want to fight for King.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

honestly, after reading the first book in series—falling for rome—i didn’t expect too much from the next one. But this was surprisingly better. I particularly liked the first half and the initial tension between the characters came in strong. Kingston and Briar were so dynamic and mature, I loved them. I was afraid that them as a pair would come out flat and baseless like Sophia and Rome (yikes) but i could see that fire in them. I liked how open and healthy their conversations were (even though King went a lil overboard in the jealousy department but i loved it nevertheless). The writing was definitely better than the previous book.

I feel like their relationship was somewhat tipping between insta-love and a slow burn since it was none of those as a whole. I’m a huge slow-burn lover so unfortunately, this was my first issue. Since the beginning was so strong and just reading about Kingston in general, i had high hopes from him, but he didn’t turn out to be as grumpy as i expected.

And single dad trope? I haven't been reading a lot of that lately but imma sucker for a girl daddy and those whooshie moments, which this definitely served. Zoe was a literal bundle of sunshine and I swear I had tears with all Kingston crossing the moon and stars for his little princess. Since this trope was in the play, i really do believe that tossing friends with benefits in the mix was a smart choice, and one I absolutely loved.

Another thing that I had a feeling was missing was the lacking use of backstory. Both Briar and Kingston had a great backstory (unlike Sophie and Rome. I’m sorry i just can't stop bringing it up :/) but the execution was MIA. Plus, a celebrity x nanny already carry so much potential, but i’m afraid it didn’t consumed that to its fullest. I can count the amount of loose ends it left behind without addressing them.

All in all, if the book would have been a hundred pages more I could see it becoming a real deal. The relationship in general between all of the characters can gain more space to flourish, and become more believable. I’m actually very excited for Phoenix’s book next!! Even though, more than having that alluring and lost sexy little brother vibes, he simply seemed like a spoilt brat to me. But I'm excited to read more of him and get to know more of his character!

Thankyou so much Xpresso Book tours and Netgalley for sending the e-arc along my way in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate it sm!!!

Fighting for King is the second book in this series by Gillian Archer and it was just wonderful. I loved Briar and Kingston and the way their relationship developed. I enjoyed this book so much (thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy for this honest review) that I went and got the first book in the series and cannot wait to read it! Briar and Kingston start out as Nanny and her boss, but they end up being so much more in the end. King's daughter, Zoe, was adorable and I fell in love with her along with Briar. Really enjoyed this one!

Quick Summary: A two-hearts-until-forever FWB romance

My Review: Fighting for King by Gillian Archer was a surprisingly complete love story. It had all of the elements that make for a great romance. It had likeable leads who were genuinely good people. It had unresolved family issues that contributed to character choices. It had a sweet, little toddler who was loved by all. It had a mixed group of interesting secondary characters, each with their own unique journeys. It had conflict, angst, betrayals, and grief. Best of all, it had love.

King and Briar's love story had it all. Their two-hearts-until-forever FWB romance had the slow burn, it had some great chemistry, and it had a friends-to-lovers approach. The HEA and the epilogue were nicely done. K and B's story ended in a very satisfying way.

King: Single dad, famous actor, brother, son of divorced parents

Briar: Divorcee, educator, nanny, daughter of parents who were happily married

King's brothers captured my attention in a big way. Nix was particularly captivating. I need to know his story. Because of the need to know his story, I cannot help but be curious about Rome's story.

My Final Say: Readers who enjoy a friends with benefits love story or a story about finding a second chance at love will really enjoy this book. It is a fast-paced read that will draw you in quickly.

Seriously, I should’ve learned by now not to put unread book on a pedestal. Which I did again, with this one.

I was excited to read about nanny vs. single dad romance and I got duped!

There was no feelings whatsoever in this book and the development was shit. Everything happened from 0 to 100 in a matter of two lines. What was up with that?!

Kingston was annoying, an asshole for like half the book with his on-and-off behaviour. The conflict was somehow conveniently caused by a very obvious person.

There was little growth and maturity in the relationship, because like I said, one moment they were angsty lusty the next they were saying I love you.

The ex didn’t even get karma and I think was only mentioned so that the FMC had a backstory. No exploring the obvious trauma in her life.

Overall, this book was very cringe and a sad attempt at nanny single parent romance.

The only bright spot in the book was Zoe.

King needs a nanny he can trust with the most important person in his life and Briar needs a higher paying job after a divorce that left her unsteady. What neither wants is any attraction between the two of them. What is more cliche than the actor and the nanny? But when the nanny is smart and sweet and cares for your daughter like the treasure she is and the actor is the best parent you have ever seen and a man who listens and values all the pierces of you how do you say no? Why would you even want to?

Another fun story that can through just when I needed this type of escapism. I loved the details in this book from what a great father King is to the great bodyguards he hires. They my be minor characters but they add a lot. I also loved that a couple of time ms I thought I knew what was going to happen next and was pleasantly surprised when things went differently. I am really enjoying this series and will be looking for book three when I want something lighter.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gillian Archer is a new to me author and I was a little nervous about starting with the 2nd in a series. Absolutely no worries whatsoever about understanding or feeling like I was missing something. In fact I immediately bought Rome’s book when I finished.

Briar, King, and his little daughter Zoe were a great combination of characters. I really liked Briar and how she handled herself during some tough moments. In fact other than the obvious bad guy I even liked the body guards and wanted more of them. This is an easy read with just the right amount of tension, drama, and gradual build to their HEA.
