Thank you Netgalley, Blackstone Publishing and Jeneva Rose for my eARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

The Airbnb thriller plot was what I was looking forward to. Unfortunately, I didn't find this 'thrilling' and in my opinion, this should have been marketed as a romantic suspense.

It was difficult for me to connect with any characters. I found Grace to be pretentious and Calvin was super creepy. The rest of the story followed as a slow burn. There was one surprisingly moment at the very end which I did enjoy.

This book was not for me. My main issue was the writing was really bad. The interactions seem inauthentic and the characters seem shallow and were very stereotypical . They are hard to connect to and I often didn’t understand them or what motivated them to do what they did.

For some reason, one thing that really bothered me was at one point the MC Grace went shopping and she bought cowboy boots, a dress, 2 pair of shorts and several tops it was only $41. Little things like this can really annoy me in books that are already bad.

The dialogue was so bad. Sometimes characters repeated themselves but it mostly just doesn’t flow like a natural conversation. They constantly discussed how Grace was from NYC and the city girl/country boy thing was way too much. They talked about it incessantly and it got very old very fast. Calvin treats Grace like an actual child because she is “a city girl” who needs protecting.

I did enjoy that the pace was quick and the chapters were short. Overall though, this book fell flat.

If you like fast paced thrillers, this is not that. Nothing happens until the last 90% and the twist was predictable.

Thank you netgalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Unbelievable at times, disjointed plot and choppy writing. The ending seemed disconnected from the rest of the story. There were some good red herrings but it wasn’t enough to make this an enjoyable read for me. I have seen that others have liked this book so this is my view only.

Jeneva Rose does not disappoint on this one! She has you guessing until the last pages on the book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense novels. Her writing is fantastic!

Grace is an attractive single woman who chooses her vacations by throwing a dart at a dartboard. This time it has landed her on a ranch in Wyoming. She is totally unprepared for the wildness of where she is staying, but is immediately intrigued by the handsome rancher. She learns to fish and horseback ride and enjoy nature. As her week progresses, she sees more and more the drama of the small town and begins to get a sneaking suspicion when she learns the woman who booked this AirBNB before her went missing.

This is definitely not a thriller. The piece of it is quite slow and plotting and it takes quite a while to feel any of the tension that Grace claims to be feeling. The last 20% is a wild ride but you need to be the type to enjoy a slow build to that in order to love this book. Just like A Perfect Marriage, the real money shot is in the final chapter.

Thanks to Blackstone Publishing for the gifted copy. All opinions above are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC copy. I devoured this book in 2 days. It’s been a while since I have been so engrossed with reading a story like this. I love Jeneva Rose’s writing style. Every chapter was very suspenseful. I loved this book up until the 90% mark when the twist was revealed. I felt like the transition was not smooth and the twist was an afterthought although I know it wasn’t. It just felt forced. This is my second book from her and I can’t wait to read her next one. Despite the ending being a letdown, I would still recommend this!

Amazing! I don't want to give any spoilers, but the tension and suspense in this book is everything I want in a thriller. Jeneva Rose kept me guessing until the very end and then wishing it wasn't over.

I devoured this book in less than 48 hours and it totally delivered.

Every year Grace Evans takes a vacation to escape NYC by throwing a dart at a map and going wherever it takes her. This year she finds herself at an Airbnb at a ranch in Wyoming.

Grace is looking for a great escape and when she meets the ranch’s owner, the decidedly delicious Calvin Wells, she might be looking for a little something more. Calvin finds himself instantly taken by his latest guest and the chemistry between the two is undeniable. Grace decides a vacation fling might be exactly what she needs.

But how well can you really know someone?

And why do the police keep stopping by? And why didn’t Calvin mention that the Airbnb doesn’t have Wifi or cell service? Add in some mysterious animal deaths, veiled warnings from some suspect townspeople and car troubles and we have ourselves a thriller with mounting tension, lots of questions and a page-turner that had me guessing until the very end.

I was pulled in by the dual POVs and so curious to see how this vacation fling was going to come to an end. Suspense and sexy and suspicious characters all around. Full disclosure - there were a few descriptions that activated my gag reflex. Gotta love some vivid language! This is my second JENEVA ROSE book and I’m excited to dive deeper into her backlist.

Huge thanks to NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing and Jeneva Rose for the ARC.

I loved Jeneva Rose’s THE PERFECT MARRIAGE and enjoyed ONE OF US IS DEAD, so this was one of my most anticipated 2023 books! Unfortunately it wasn’t at all what I expected when I heard her describe it as an “Airbnb thriller.”

I would describe this as a romantic thriller, with the majority of the story being about the romance. There were some creepy things sprinkled in with the romance, but the thriller aspect didn’t pick up until about the 80% mark — and then it goes from 0-100 reallll fast. Everything was too far-fetched for my liking and I didn’t enjoy the story.

Even though this one was a miss for me, I will still happily read what she writes next!

So conflicted about this book. I started actually reading this book on my kindle and I found the writing to be not for me. So, I switched to the audio (thanks @librofm) and I actually enjoyed it more that way especially with dual narrators! However! I rolled my eyes through the first 80% of this book because of the insta love these 2 characters had for each other throughout almost the entire book. & I get it now - after the ending I understand why it was a thing, but ugh reading about it for 80% of the book was frustrating. The twists at the end were great & I kind of called them, but I still had so many questions after the book finished and I just hate that.

Honestly, this was a page turner for me. I was guessing throughout the whole book and anxiously waiting to figure out what was going to happen. If you’re going to read it - go for the audio!

Grace needs to get away from the bustling life in NYC. Several years ago she started throwing an arrow at a map and traveling to that location. This time it led her to a ranch in the middle of nowhere. When she meets Calvin they both feel the electricity, but she is there to relax, not start a relationship. However, things still begin to heat up between them. But there is something sinister about the ranch that Grace can’t quite place and Calvin seems to have a hard time with telling the truth. Grace may also be keeping some secrets of her own…nothing is as it seems.

This was a total page turner. I love Rose’s style of writing. She draws you in and tells the story from both perspectives so you don’t miss a thing! I will definitely be recommending this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Jeneva Rose for this ARC.

I thought this was a thriller but it was more of a romance with some mystery. Didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I love the cover!!

It's been a long time since I enjoyed a thriller this much, and I'm surprised more people aren't raving about it. Perhaps it was a bit predictable, but the setting was so completely fascinating, and the characters and their interpersonal turmoil got me. Plus I just love something set in a rural area with added romantic intrigue. Like, let's hear it for a hot creepy farmer. More of this, please.

Going into this one, I was semi-anxious because I’ve seen mixed reviews and I know there’ll be some animal content. So I buddy read it with the bestie for emotional support 😂

But omg, I’ve finished this book in less than 24 hours!! It was so bingeable and perfect for getting me out of my semi slump!

This is like your small town romance gone dark 😂 It didn’t read to me as a romance book because maybe I’m just waiting for things to start going wrong 😂 And like any other small town story, you have a full cast of characters that you will be suspicious of the whole time you’re reading this!

This is a book set in a Wyoming ranch and the wild animals were I guess setting the scene for the reader. So like expected, there was some animal content on this and I don’t like reading about those but how it was handled here wasn’t super graphic so it helped me not have such a hard time with it if that makes sense.

I love that every chapter ends in a cliffhanger and literally this book will not let you stop reading it until the last page! Literally what I said after reading this was “What did I just read??” and I love it! 😂

So little synopsis:
Grace is an overworked New Yorker, every year she goes on a “retreat”. She tries to pick her vacation spots by randomly throwing a dart at a US map. This year, it landed in Wyoming. There she meets her AirBnB host, Calvin, and they hit it off super quickly. Everything was going well until the police starts knocking and asking questions about a missing girl…

Thank you so much @blackstonepublishing for sending me a copy of this book!

💭 Do you have any plans of visiting a state you’ve never been at? If you don’t live in the US, would you plan to visit a state that’t not as popular as NY/ California?
☕️ My bestfriend and I will be going to New Mexico in a few weeks and I’m excited to explore. There’ll be lots of driving though 😅

For the first 75% this felt like a women's fiction/romance book and then wildly veered into an on the edge of your seat twisty, serial killer thriller and I was 100% here for it! Amazing on audio narrated in a dual POV style by Andrew Eiden and Andi Arndt (two of my fav narrators). My mind was blown with the last minute double twist and enjoyed the direction this one ended up going so much! The middle did seem to drag a bit but trust me when I say the shocking end is worth it! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and Librofm for an ALC in exchange for my honest review!!

This is what I would call a ~beach read~ because I love fast thrillers on the beach! While it was a lot more romance heavy than expected (AND A SLOW BURN AT THAT!!!), it truly was easy and easily bingeable—Perfect for when you take your own solo getaway this summer 👀👀👀

However, with the slow burn romance, there weren't many ~thrills~ happening until about the second half of the book... BUT there are hints of it through the beginning, so see if you can pick up on them and guess what happens!

I thought this one started really strong and I liked the creepy AirBnB ranch setting. I spent most of the book thinking how dumb Grace was but a huge part of me also had a feeling where the ending was headed, and I turned out to be right. It was clear from the beginning that Calvin was a psychopath and the insta-love just annoyed me, to be frank. I don't like it in romances and I didn't love it here.

I found a lot of plot holes in this one and the biggest reason for the low rating is that it was just too much of a build with nothing happening - literally nothing happened for the first 90% of the book other than Grace saying "I should probably leave" immediately followed by "only a few more days!" The last 10% had all the action and while it had some surprises thrown in, it just wasn't thrilling enough to make up for the lackluster book nor was it believable. Overall I can't say I recommend this one.

This was a really good read! I liked Grace, and while I had a bad feeling about Calvin throughout, I couldn’t have imagined the twist at the end. This one was a little predictable in some spots, but generally really engrossing and kept my attention. I couldn’t put it down. It had a hint of romance too, which I surprisingly

Grace Evans is a city girl looking to take a relaxing trip. she finds herself at an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming, sharing the house with its owner, Calvin Wells. the attraction between Grace & Calvin is instant, and their romantic tension is apparent all around town.

but despite the comfort she feels with Calvin, so much of this town makes Grace uneasy. besides the lack of cell service, her interactions with some of Calvin’s circle have been less than ideal, and borderline threatening. further, she hears about a missing girl in town. add in a few grotesque experiences on the ranch, and Grace finds herself ready to head back to New York City; but it seems as though Calvin has other plans for them.

this book is told in alternating POVs between Grace and Calvin. I always enjoy this bc it allows readers to grasp both of the characters’ emotions and inner-thoughts, giving us more knowledge than the other characters & allowing for lots of foreshadowing. that being said, I feel like it wasn’t as suspenseful as I was expecting it to be just bc said foreshadowing led me to certain conclusions pretty early on.

I found this book to be both a slow burn & a page-turner. even though I had anticipated certain twists & turns, I was eager to read on and see how things played out. i’m still not really sure how I felt about the ending, though! on one hand, I wasn’t expecting parts of it, which I always enjoy; on the other hand, i think I was hoping for more redemption & justification for what happened.

all in all, we have another wild, highly-anticipated novel coming our way from @jenevaroseauthor! i will always add her books to my TBR bc I admire her dedication to the twists, turns, chills & thrills that make suspense books the absolute GOAT 🐐 👊🏼

thank you to @netgalley & @blackstonepublishing for my #arc. this book comes out on April 25th!!

wanted to love this so much because Jeneva has been on my TikTok fyp long before I finally picked up The Perfect Marriage, and I want to be her friend. Unfortunately, this book isn’t doing it for me.

I was expecting this to be a thriller, but it definitely weighs on the more romantic suspenseful side of things for the majority of the book. The plot didn’t really pick up until the last 20% of the book, and by the time things started getting exciting, it felt like the pacing of the story was way off. On top of that, none of the characters were very likable, and the ending felt a little jumbled.

I will say that I listened to this on audiobook via Libro FM, and it was incredibly engaging and easy to follow along with. The setting of the small town backdrop also piqued my interest, and I think if this was marketing as a romantic suspense with slightly better pacing, I would’ve really enjoyed this.

Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of the electronic arc and Libro FM for the advance listener copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
