First, I want to thank NetGalley and Blackstone publishing for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! This is probably like a 2.5 star book for me, not quite as low as 2. I didn’t dislike the book, persay, but I would say I really liked it either? It was just kind of okay for me.
This storyline had a lot of potential and I think this was a really interesting/cool concept for a novel, but the execution fell flat for me. I didn’t feel that invested in the characters because for almost the entirety of the book, we only knew surface level details about them. I get that that was probably in an attempt to create more mystery and intrigue around these characters, but for me it didn’t really work and I just ended up not caring for them because I hardly knew these characters. This was especially true for Grace’s character because we really know nothing about her besides the fact that she’s on the ranch with Calvin and that she’s from a city until the last couple chapters.
Spoiler ahead: I think by making Grace’s character and her background so vague and surface-level, it made it obvious that she was going to end up having some kind of crazy side or be “a bad guy” so to speak. Because what other reason would there be for not giving us any other background on Grace? I think that if we had gotten little snippets of Grace’s (or Avery I guess I should call her) real life throughout the story it might have made me suspect her less or even if I did suspect her more than I already did, I might’ve been more engaged.
There were definitely some things I did like about this book, like finding out about Calvin’s true psychotic self for example, but I just thought that a lot of the side characters and main characters could’ve been developed more fully (ex. What was Betty on meds for? We knew she was “off her meds” but meds for what?).

I'm really torn about You shouldn't Have Come Here. It started off with a decent bang and had me intrigued from the beginning. I knew there was something off about the Air BnB owner, Calvin, from the beginning, but I wasn't sure just what. But as the book went on, it almost seemed to turn into the weirdest romance book instead of being a thriller. And while I understood at the end why Grace continued to stick around--especially after that pretty big twist--I kept getting annoyed with her and her behavior. I just can't put my finger on it, but this book just didn't seem to be for me. I did whip through it, and I did like the twist at the end, but...I don't know. There was just something about it that put me off.

When an AirBnB stay goes from bad to worse, the host and the guest find themselves caught up in a stay they never could have planned for.
This thriller had elements of Colleen Hoover, Riley Sager, and Gillian Flynn. Highly readable and definitely a page turner, the ideas that drove the plot just weren't as original as I would have hoped. The ultimate reveal was one I predicted about halfway through, but though the course of events played out as I surmised, this was still a pretty enjoyable ride. I'm just giving it 3 stars because some of the clues/foreshadowing became so obvious that I kinda felt like I was being slapped in the face with them after a while! But seeing as this was my first book by this author, I'll definitely make a point to try to check out some of her others in the future.

What a unique twist to the traditional lock door mystery. A great blend of romance and thrill with a twist you won't see coming. This is my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to reading more.

The writing was very easy to get into almost to a point where it sounded like a novel written for a younger audience because it was that simple.
The characters were all unlikable and meh. We didn't get much for them because this was obviously plot driven.
The plot was ok. It definitely moved at a fast pace but there was something missing for me that just didn't work out.
The ending was good but I wanted more explanations.
Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 / 5 stars
Grace throws a dart on a map and ends up at an Airbnb in the middle of Wyoming. Taking a break from her hectic day-to-day life, she wants nothing more than to relax and enjoy her surroundings. Yes Calvin, her Airbnb host, may seem a little strange, and she might have a few weird feelings, but he is so accommodating and even more good looking. Grace is drawn to him the way people are drawn to the thrill of danger. They both begin to let their guards down, but a string of strange things begin to happen. And Calvin keeps lying to Grace. Can she trust him? Is there something sinister going on with her host? And most importantly, is she safe?
Jeneva Rose is an auto-read author for me, but this one wasn’t my favorite. I did like the dual POVs and the layers of mystery. I felt like most of the book moved pretty slowly, BUT the ending made up for it! The ending BLEW. MY. MIND. Read this one if you like slow builds, locked room vibes, and explosive endings!

I thought this book was great! I was hooked from the first few pages. I liked that the story had these interesting characters who became creepier as the story progressed. You know something is off but can’t put your finger on it!

I had been meaning to read a book by Jeneva Rose for the longest time and I got so lucky that Netgalley sent me an advanced reader copy for this one. What a thrill ride this was! This book is creepy as heck and if you love to be scared, you better grab this one when it releases on 4/25/23!!

Such a great book that kept me on my toes! I love how the story was told from two different views, and how there was a little bit of every genre thrown in. I love a good twist ending, and this one was so satisfying!!

This read was about an Airbnb stay gone wrong. You get two different points of view throughout the book. There were many twists to the point where you are suspicious of every character! The book captivates you rather quickly but I would say the very beginning is a little slow. I didn’t necessarily feel invested or in support of any particular character. Part of it felt as if everything that could be thrown in there was solely to keep the reader unsure which was great at times and a little excessive other times. Made you feel like, what was the point of that? I enjoyed the ending, specifically the last line! Overall, it felt a little flat.
Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC.

I am a huge jeneva fan but unfortunately I found this one slow and predictable. The main character was whiny and her decisions were not realistic. Overall it’s not her best work

Thank you Jeneva & Netgalley for both physical & digital advanced copies of You Shouldn't Have Come Here! I absolutely loved The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, I was so excited to read her newest title. This book read like a horror movie in the sense that I kept screaming at the main character to "get out!!" This book was twisted, dark, and creepy...all in the best way & kept me guessing until the very last page! I did not see the final twist coming!

I’m a big Jeneva Rose fan — starting with her first thriller, The Perfect Marriage.
This thriller is set at a Wyoming ranch being run as an Airbnb. Grace Evans is visiting from New York City, but we know from the moment she arrives that something feels wrong. Even as she falls for Calvin Wells, the hunky ranch owner, the pieces of the story he's telling her do not fit. And why on earth does she continue to stay? Add in a cast of characters to fear. Plus new dangers from being out in the wilds.
Filled with the signature twists and turns we’ve come to expect from Jeneva Rose, You Shouldn’t Have Come Here will keep you flipping pages and wondering until that twist at the very end.

Have you ever stayed at an AirBnB that made the hair on your neck stand up? But you feel like you're just overreacting and stay there anyway? Than this book was made for you!!
I seriously loved the premise of this book so much and I thought it was done so well. It was full of romance type writing, but I genuinely felt creeped out the entire time. It was full of twists and turns along the way and I truly never knew who I could trust.
I loved how many side characters there were, and how they added to the story. It could have been your typically boy & girl alone in a cabin vibe, and I'm glad the author took it another direction. It made me grit my teeth that much more and made the ending that MUCH MORE INSANE.
Overall, this may be one of the most original thrillers I've read in awhile and I can't wait to read more from this author!
Thank you so much to Blackstone Publishing and Netgalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

You Shouldn't Have Come Here is one of the best thrillers I've read. Jeneva Rose has an unmatched talent for writing books that keep you guessing until the very end. This ending has me shook! I can't wait for readers everywhere to get their hands on this book!

I love Jeneva Rose's mind and how every book is different. I didn't read the synopsis of this book, as she is auto read author for me. I'm glad I didn't read it because every turn around every corner was a surprise for me throughout this book.
This is a great twisty read that will really keep you guessing until the end. Just when you think you have figured out the who's and why's, you haven't. I think my favorite aspect of this story is the overwhelming sense of foreboding that starts at the beginning and doesn't stop until the end. There is a high creep factor from so many of the characters and quite a few scary moments with some graphic details that will give you that gross feeling...in a good way.
I highly recommend this book as well as all of her other stories. I know that when I dive into a Jeneva Rose book, that I am in for a great read and never lets me down.

Thank you NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the advanced copy!
This is the first book I've read by this author after many recommendations through TikTok and Goodreads. While I enjoyed the setting and how it created a sense of isolation for the protagonist, it wasn't enough to carry this uneven thriller. The narrative relied heavily on the romance between Grace, the airbnb guest, and Calvin, the host which detracted from the true mystery underneath. The book was so focused on their flip flopping trust that there was no true chemistry between the leads which made their connection seem unbelievable. I did see some promise in the building of the mystery, but it was mostly clouded by too many supporting characters and, as mentioned, the focus on romance.
Overall, the concept was intriguing with a lot of promise and the twist ending was well-done, but I wanted more. I saw enough good in this book that I do plan on reading Jeneva Rose's other work with the hope that this one just wasn't for me.

'What can go wrong when you open up your house and your heart to a total stranger?"
The first thing that drew me in was the cover of this book.
It looks like and perfect thriller read and I was so happy when I got exactly that.
I devoured it in one sitting.
The story was interesting and it kept me on my toes the whole time. It was suspensful and after reading this book I'm certain that I'll never travel alone or at least never book an Airbnb alone
The dual pov was really clever, I always like to see the story from different angles.
If you like thrillers and suspensful stories then this is your book.

Four friends have stolen aboard the Titanic. They're after the Rubaiyat - a book inlaid with priceless jewels. Josefa is a charismatic thief, Hinnah a daring acrobat, Violet an outstanding actress and Emilie a talented artist.
It is Josefa's plan, but she needs all of their skills. Despite their very different backgrounds, in a world of first-class passengers and suspicious crew members, the girls must work together to pull off the heist of their lives.

Does Grace have blue eyes?? I had a lot of issues with this book. I love Jeneva Rose’s books but this one just missed the mark for me overall. I think most of my issues came from the lack of editing. The idea of the book is great but the execution was not.
I feel like the mystery throughout was pretty mild and then to have an ending like that was pretty far fetched. It was entertaining but didn’t really fit with the rest of the story.
I also take issue with how Calvin was written. Half of the time he’s speaking in proper English and the other half he’s speaking in phrases like “don’t make no sense”. It feels like she wanted him to be a part time hillbilly and it just comes off as disjointed.
There were a number of things that were never resolved. Why was Charlotte so rude? Why did Joe try to burn down the house? What is going on with Betty?
Also, in no world would a person get a pair of boots and several outfits for $40. I don’t care how small the town is, that is completely unbelievable.
