This is my first Jeneva Rose. When I first started reading it I thought it was just a straight-up romance, then it turned into a romantic suspense, then at the end with the twist, it became a thriller. I really liked this book. Some people may read it and roll their eyes at specific parts of the book and call it cheesy, but I think the author did that on purpose. I think she wrote it that way to distract us so we couldn't figure out the twist at the end. Not to spoil anything, I knew something was up with this person, but I still didn't 100% guess the ending. I will definitely read more from Jeneva Rose.

This author wrote The Perfect Marriage, which I loved so I was thrilled to receive an arc of this book.
This book is based in Wyoming and I felt the descriptions were perfect. Not overly descriptive but I could SEE the mountains, the stream, the pasture and the western clothes.
The plot is interesting and has a nice twist. Grace rents an Airbnb from Calvin but his family acts straight up weird. Why? Read the book to find out!

My favorite Jeneva Rose novel BY FAR! I could not read it fast enough. The way that you were on pins and needles waiting for the shoe to drop...was brilliant. I did not see the end coming and that is what makes this an easy 5 star book. I was hooked from the beginning and was not able to figure out the ending. Highly recommend this book.

Grace decides to book an Air BNB in a remote ranch in Wyoming. The owner, Calvin, is mysteriously sexy. Grace begins to make herself at home and meeting people in town. But Grace begins to uncover more lies than truths. While Calvin fears Grace has secrets of her own.

This was a different book than it seemed from the description. I wanted a mystery with a big twist but it felt more like a romance and I rarely like those. It’s a little slow in the beginning and I think more could have been done to keep the mystery reader into it. I probably won’t read another of her books.

Good author but this one just wasn't for me. Are they good? Are they bad? Through the whole novel back and forth and when it came to close, I did not care who killed who. The characters were weak- minded and shallow and I felt the plot had been done before. The dialogue was very modern and superficial and and I was ready for it to be over before it was. Very Lifetime thriller-like, which may be fun for a movie but not a book. #youshouldnthavecomehere #jenevarose #netgalley #goodreads

This was great. After loving The Perfect Marriage, I could not wait to read You Shouldn't Have Come Here. I thought it was going to be predictable with the secluded ranch and the feeling of something being off -- but I was pleasantly surprised by the twists.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC.

Grace randomly chooses a small town in Wyoming for a vacation from her busy New York life. She rents a room at a farm from Calvin and their attraction to each other is evident. Grace enjoys her time with Calvin, including cooking together and riding horses. A few things are concerning though, the lack of internet, warnings from people in town and a missing women who was supposed to stay before Grace arrived. When Grace's car has problems, she has to stay until parts can be ordered. It's a suspenseful book and I kept wanting Grace to get out of town. What a crazy ending!

This wasn't my favorite, but I am a picky reader. I think other readers will enjoy it, and this is an obvious addition to the collection.

3.8*
The beginning was stuff of nightmares and the ending was exactly what I never knew I wanted. It’s one of those endings you’ve been waiting for someone to write well, but haven’t quite come across it. Not to be vague, but also not trying to give spoilers because it’s a big one.
The middle played out like a slow paced horror story without the horror. A lot of it could have been shortened or left out. At one point I had no idea what I was reading anymore. It felt like it wasn’t getting anywhere. Didn’t feel like a thriller or horror book, but a slow burn romance. The male MC was soooooo cringey I couldn’t even find an attraction to him. A lot of small town and family drama that you can see playing out well on a big screen but not quite in the pages of a book. Does that make sense?
All in all, I couldn’t put it down. It was a slow burning fast read. You’ll definitely want to stick it out to get to THE twist. Just when you think Jeneva Rose has pulled a fast one on you, she REALLY blindsides you in the best way possible. I love it.
Thank you NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the ARC!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
If I haven't read Jeneva Rose's previous books, I would have thought I grabbed a Hallmark Christmas feel good movie script. 70% of the story opened exactly like one of the typical romantic story, Busy big city lawyer seeks break, and rents an Air BNB in remote ranch. Handsome host, and farmer and her share undeniable chemistry off the bat.
But it's Jeneva Rose, Queen of the Twist, so things are never what they appear to be. It's not a feel-good romance book, it's a story about hunter and the prey. Who is hunting who is the only thing to figure out.
Bravo Jeneva, another captivating book out there.

I’ve loved all of Jeneva Roses books up until now this one was just okay. The romance portion felt unbelievable to me and unlikely. And because of that, I began to lose interest. The last part of the book has some twists which kept me interested. Will still read more by Jeneva absolutely but this one wasn’t my fav of hers

This book was excellent and the epitome of a slow burn. At first I thought it moved rather slowly. However, the calmness of the beginning of the story set the perfect stage for each of the twists and turns to come. Each character was a conundrum and kept me guessing through each chapter. From the slow introduction, to the gloriously mysterious characters, to the jaw dropping end, this is one book you don't want to miss!

I really enjoyed a previous book by this author (The Perfect Marriage). I had high hopes for this one but it fell a little flat for me. It lacked that extra umph

Regret…
“I don’t have any. If it was good, I enjoyed it. If it was bad, I learned from it. I can’t go around regretting the things I’ve done that made me” -Grace
Let that just sit with you for a second.
You Shouldn’t Have Come Here
This book right here is jam packed with quotes and expressions of love (or obsession) that will have you reading, and rereading each sentence just to let it absorb a little further into your soul.
It’s weird to describe a book classified as a thriller with such passion and emotion but sometimes books hit a little differently depending on the mood you read them in.
My mood was just right for this one.
Last night I scrolled through my netgalley shelf looking for a book I knew I could get lost in, and that I did. Everything was so life like and the characters both lovable and hatable, layered and raw made them so real.
I am jealous of every person who is yet to read this one as I would love to experience it again and go a tad bit slower so I squeeze every last bit of goodness out of it.
Pre-Order the book, then come check on me, I barely survived that book-coaster 😰
Teaser :
Grace Evans, an overworked New Yorker looking for a total escape from her busy life, books an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming. When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, she's pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man by the name of Calvin Wells -- and he's eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. But there are things Grace discovers that she's not too pleased about: A lack of cell phone service. A missing woman. And a feeling that something isn't right with the ranch.
Despite her uneasiness, the two bond and start to fall for one another. However, as her departure date nears, things change for the worse. What began as a playful romance soon turns into a complicated web of lies. Grace grows wary of Calvin as his infatuation for her seems to have morphed to obsession. Calvin fears that Grace is hiding something from him -- including her reason for staying at his ranch to begin with. Vacation flings typically end in heartbreak, but for Grace and Calvin, it'll be far more destructive.

This is the absolute fastest I’ve ever read a Jeneva Rose book—possibly the fastest I’ve read a book all year. I HAD to know where she was going with this, and I loved the tension between Grace and Calvin. I also loved the more closed/intimate nature of this book—different from her other books, but IT WORKS! Love how her dry humor comes through in just the right doses, and how messed up some of the twists are—she definitely did not play it safe, and I love when a thriller takes risks and it pays off.

Grace Evans drives her rather unreliable car from the hustle and bustle of NYC to a secluded AirBnB ranch home in Wyoming for a little rest and relaxation.
The host, rancher, owner of the home, Calvin, instantly falls for Grave and her blue.blue eyes.
Nothing and nobody are what what they at first appear to be. There are several ancillary characters thrown in to have the reader questioning what the real story might be but none stick around long enough to have an impact.
Although this was marketed as suspense thriller, it was most definitely a romance with a huge twist at the very end. I think the author would have done better to either leave out the twist and make it a romance or leave about all of the romance and focus on building a story that better fits the twist.
Not for me by a long shot.

Another winner from Jeneva Rose!! Spooky setting, untrustworthy characters, and top-notch suspense! Could not put it down (and quite frankly, I didn’t want to)!

Wow! As someone who is a thriller, mystery and psychological suspense aficionado, this one hit the ball right out of the park. There may have been romance but this book kept me on my toes and you should have seen my face when I reached the twist at the end. I was shook! Bravo Jeneva! This is my first book by J but it won't be my last.

Thank you to Blackstone Publishing for letting me read this early!
what did I just read? The author is very good at giving you what seems to be a mediocre story until you get to the last 30% of the book and then it’s like your blindfold comes off and you’re left staring into nothing wondering how you never saw any of it coming.

The cover of "You Shouldn't Have Come Here" drew me in and I hoped for a twisty thriller. But it started off as a lusty romance that was somewhat uncomfortable. Grace was visiting a remote AirBnB, ran by the handsome, aloof Calvin.
Romance just isn't my jam but I was promised a thriller so I kept reading. Weird things started happening. A missing girl. A broke down car. Eh...
I have to say it was a miss for me, mainly because the first half read like a cheesy romance. And so much was like the perfect models on a dude ranch in sexy clothes... who does that? I kept rolling my eyes. These people have never been out to feed horses in the cold, or been fishing when you stay outside for hours.
The end was okay but still didn't give a good explanation.
I give it 2.5 stars rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a egalley in exchange for an honest review.
