What an unexpected surprise, this book was everything you want in one book. I loved Camille's ability to hook you in very early on. This was full of all the emotions for me . It had some amazing takeaways and I adored how it all came together.
This is a feel good book. The synopsis drew me in as I've had my own issues, similar to Aly's. It took way longer to read than it should have but that was more of life's little 'issues' creeping in, which the book helped with. It's relatable, but still an escape, and the characters are all likeable and human. I wasn't on holiday when I read it, so it's more than a holiday book. Take a punt. Enjoy it!
Super quick read, so nice for the summer loved the brothers best friend and forced proximity tropes
Sensitive subjects written about well
I really enjoyed this read. The MC has a lot of trauma to work through and watching her pick through it and get her life together was really great, she’s a really likeable character and I was really gunning for her to be ok. The MMC was also likeable and funny. The whole book gives you happy feels in the end
Really enjoyed this latest from Pagán. I enjoy her mix of light romance and hard life experiences. The characters were great and deep, and I loved the resolution. I have several more Pagáns to get caught up on, but it's always a good reading experience.
I liked that this book was fairly short, but still had excellent character development and managed to pack an emotional punch. This deals with topics of grief and childhood trauma, but it still had some light moments that kept it from getting too dark overall.
I guessed the reveal about Luke, so it was nice to have my suspicions confirmed. Aly did frustrate me at times, especially when she wouldn't just watch the video. Overall though, as a character, she felt very real and her actions were understandable given her grief and childhood issues.
Also, it's totally cool if an author doesn't want to swear in their book, but I thought the use of "beach" and "ducking" to replace words was just dumb.
I went into this one expecting a light and easy beach read but was pleasantly surprised to learn that it had so much more depth than that! With themes such as grief and trauma, this moving story has one goal and one goal only, to pull on your heartstrings.
I'm not usually a fan of the instant love trope so I was a little worried when the romance was introduced but I'm happy to report that it ended up working well here.
Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union for access to the e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have read one Camille Pagan book prior to this one and enjoyed it. This one, however, disappointed some. I read it quickly, and the character was ok, but it was way too predictable for me and the main character was portrayed as a weak woman which I am personally over reading characters like this.
Good book that was a quick read to me. It passed quickly and was a good story. No real down sides to this one.
I went into this book hoping it would be about the magazine publishing industry - the lead character is editor-in-chief of a Real Simple type of magazine. But it the usual romance trope - the lead character has a meltdown and needs to take a leave of absence but luckily she has a place to go in the midwest - her recently deceased brother had left her his lakefront home. Hijinks ensue when she arrives to find her brother's best friend also living in the house. You can see where this is going...I found it predictable which reduced my enjoyment.
This was a slow burn story of grief & loss of a loved one with a silver lining with intention.
It was evenly paced with solid character growth and development.
I’m not usually a fan of a slow burn but it worked for this book especially due to the delicate nature of the storyline.
The author puts a trigger warning note at the beginning of the book but I think it’s written so well ane handled the topic in such an eloquent way that it imo makes it much less triggering and more reflective.
Read if you're into…
He falls first
Brothers best friend
Finding your voice (equal pay!)
Overall a good story and it’s one that I think would make a really cute movie.
I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. Plus this cover is so beautiful and very Instagrammable.
I felt this book lacked substance. I did like this book but felt like it was too long and not much happened. I certainly did not feel like Aly and Wyatt had much chemistry.
I really liked this book, it was different than anything else I've read which was a breath of fresh air. I will be recommending this to my friends, and auto buy this author!
I loved, LOVED this book! I never read the author before, so I had no idea what to expect. I actually thought based off of the cover it was going to be a fluffy beach read. Don't let it fool you. The book is deep and I was sobbing at times. Anyone who has lost someone close to them will feel a connection to Aly. Grief is complicated and I liked that the author didn't demonstrate it in any cliche ways. The romance was so perfect, I loved that Aly and Wyatt truly grew together. Their relationship showed how another person can heal you in the darkest times. The sub-plots were great too, especially the complicated feelings between Aly and her mom. Overall, an easy five-star read for me.
One of the more entertaining stories by this author. Overall, it was light, cute, fun, and easy to read.
This was a quick and easy read. I really liked the premise of this story and whilst it didn’t full click for me it was still an enjoyable light read.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
This was a really enjoyable book following the typical romance novel structure. Aly is an overworked career woman who suffers a setback in life, meets a man, and slowly comes to realise that there is more to life, and what she wants is her man. A good read, if a little predictable.
I found the book to be a fast and enjoyable read. The settings were well-described and added to the overall experience. However, I did find the plot to be predictable.
This was a quick and fun read! I found it pretty predictable, but the premise was unique from other recent romance books, and I flew through it.
