As a children's librarian, I love being able to offer many different options for our young readers. This book is amazing in giving people the techniques to make their very own quiet books. Quiet books are such a wonderful way to offer the story telling experience while also having sensory options for children to explore. This book would be a wonderful read for anyone looking to make quiet books for very young children.

This is a great sewing book for any sewer to have in their book resources. Tons of cute and simple patterns.

Growing up, my best friend had a wild animal quiet book that we would play with during Sunday services, so I have fond memories of quiet books. This book is all about creating quiet books and details the instructions for two specific books: one for infants and one for toddlers. The author gets into details about the differences between age-appropriate books for infants versus older children, which I thought was extremely helpful. Some of the ideas for books include themed dollhouses, gardens, alphabets, and finger puppets. Honestly, the creator is only limited by their own imagination!

The book discusses not only the various themes you can incorporate into a book, but also ways to make it more engaging. This includes incorporating interactive elements throughout the book. One of my favorites was teaching kids about brushing their teeth by having a felt animal and toothbrush activity. But there were also other pages that included a shoe with laces to practice tying bows, and little games like tic tac toe. But like all good craft books, it begins with a list of suggested supplies, materials, and tools, as well as the various basic techniques you’ll use in putting together a quiet book.

I liked that the book included illustrations with the instructions to make each step clear, but also included at least one photograph of the finished project. The final portion of the book included patterns for each of the projects included in the book, making the projects quite easy to get started.

If you enjoy sewing, are looking for an easy project to learn some basic sewing and embroidery techniques, or want to make a gift for a child in your life, this would be a great book to use. As someone who works at a children’s hospital, I was immediately drawn to this book. In an era where technology reigns supreme, this seems like a superior alternative to tablets and TVs. And I am so very glad I requested it because this is a great resource.

It is highly organized, making it easy to read and follow. The book is picture heavy which benefits its purpose and makes the patterns simple and not overwhelming. It’s perfect for beginners who need a little extra hand holding while also supplying veterans with unique and interesting ideas.The book is filled with helpful tips and many of the step by step images are clear and concise.


If you are interested in making these, I highly recommend this book!

I'm not a very gifted handicraft person at all but I sure do admire those who can turn out handcrafted wonders. Such 'wonders' can be found in this book - they are quite amazing and appear straight forward to make, that is, the "quiet books" for young children.

What a novel idea in these days where parents start their children so young with handphones and such devices. How great it would be to introduce young children to a lovingly crafted (by a mom, aunt, and/or a grandparent and the like) intriquing, hands-on book of sensory delight, games and intellectually engaging experience. This type of gift would be so invaluable, I believe and something I would have liked my own children to have had when they were young.

Details such as fabric or felt choices, stitching tips, patterns/templates ideas for designs, basic 'how-to' instructions and lovely pictures, including teaching how just about anyone could fashion a 'quiet book' for busy young hands. Go for it! I might even give it a try. Ha!

This book is beautifully made with beautiful photos on every step of the directions. Safety concerns are very visible with alternate options to suit a variety of needs. The instructions are written very clearly and the patterns included will be useful to anyone wanting to sew their own quiet book.

This was such a fun book to explore. I am a mom of seven and have been sewing for the past 20 years. When my children were little, I always wanted to make some quiet books for them, but could not find the time to figure out what and how exactly. But now that I started having grandchildren, I would like to actually do it.

This book is so well written and illustrated. It not only show some basic description, but also give detailed instructions on techniques (both sewing machine and hand-stiches). I especially enjoyed learning about the various way of putting the pates together. The second part of the book has examples of individual pages - with detailed instructions as well as templates for tracing.

It has many photos, but also drawn illustrations of placement and process. I also like the warning given, as these books are generally made for small children and safety is very important. It will definitely help me in the process in the future.

This is a really cool and detailed book. I was able to make my niece one for her first birthday and she loves it and I think she will continue to love it for a long time. I definitely recommend for anyone who likes to sew and has kids in their lives.

This is a very cute book showing how to construct little hands on activities for little ones to play with, and keep their hands busy. I think it will be appreciated both by the little ones who will benefit, as well as older siblings looking for something to make for them. I've always wanted to make a quiet book and this was a great tool for me to get started! There are a ton of good ideas in here and lots of quick tips and tricks.

The book includes 12 different quiet book designs, each with a unique theme and set of activities, along with clear templates and illustrations to help bring the projects to life. One of the things I appreciated most about this book was the author's attention to detail. Each project was well thought out and designed to engage young children's imaginations and creativity. I particularly enjoyed the variety of themes included, from ocean animals to doll houses. Overall, Sewing Quiet Books is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to create unique, handmade gifts for children.

Quiet books are a fantastic parenting hack for keeping little hands busy, little minds occupied and engaged and little people relatively quiet or at least not dropping loud items on the floor in the middle of church or other equally quiet places.

Love all the pictures and ideas. Making a child a quiet book rather than buying one is a wonderful way to provide something useful that also has sentimental meaning because it was made by hand by someone who loves them.

This is absolutely adorable! I love all types of sewing, but wouldn’t never have had a clue how to make a quiet book. This book has certainly given me the confidence and skill set to have an go. It’s full of engaging, age appropriate ideas for a baby / toddler to explore, with themed ideas from fruits to underwater.. Each project / page is explained step by step, with clear accompanying photographs. Safety is considered, and alternative ideas provided. . You can follow the patterns exactly, or use the skills to create your own patterns and ideas. Would definitely recommend.

One thing I didn’t see in the book was instructions on how to print out the pattern pages. I saw where it mentions pattern transfer methods to get the shapes on to the fabric, but not specifically how to print those pages. And I see how this can sound a bit silly but all sewing patterns I use include printing guide pages and also how to print them true to size (100% not fit to page). For example: Brushing teeth pages 122, 123. Maybe this isn’t relevant and this book will only be available in print?? But I received an ebook version.

What a cute book! The instructions are great and the pictures are very clear. All of the stitch lines are clearly show in red. The pattern pages are clearly labeled including the colors you should choose. There are so many Safety Notes throughout the book it is very apparent that safety is an important concern. Lily really knows her stuff and gives great advice for anyone wanting to make a quiet book regardless of skill. This came to me at a perfect time, just before a few 1st birthday parties!

I had a lot of fun reading this book! As a sewist and clothing designer I appreciate all parts of the work and love that went in to this!!

This book is so well thought out and thorough! The author gives you step by step instructions as well as patterns to put your felt book(s) together. Any little one will love a felted quiet book made from these patterns/instructions made by someone they love.

I really liked this book. It had some great ideas for sewing quiet books which included the best ways to attach things so that babies don't pull them off, as well as many ways of tailoring the book to your specific child.
I think the idea of theming the books was great and I will hopefully be trying the under-the-sea theme.
There are very few books on the market about the subject of quiet books as they having a bit of a comeback at the moment and I am loving it.

Very cute, and full of good ideas! Patterns are included, and nearly everything is made from felt so the actual sewing portion is fairly minimal. The book has instructions for two quiet books -one for babies focusing on sensory experience, and one for toddlers focusing on motor skills.

The book is well organized with the following chapter headings: 1. Materials, Tools, Suplies 2. Basic Techniques 3. Book Construction Methods 4. Baby sensory Book Pages 5. Toddler Activity Book Pages

Many bright colored photographs clarify the instructions. Suggestions for themes are fun: farm, moving things, dollhouse, forest friends. Ms. Zunic encourages the crafter to tailor the book to the child’s age and interests. Suggestions are given for puzzles and games.

Directions are clear, but I would not say the book is “super simple” like the publisher did. Though I have sewing/ crafting experience, I would need to follow the ‘putting pages together’ part very slowly. I think this book would make a fun jumping off point to sewing a personalized “quiet book” as a special gift.

The baby tactile pages are very cute, with advice on making sure the book is safe for exploring mouths and fingers. Toddler pages are more elaborate. The teeth brushing page is creative and fun. Patterns are given for about twenty pages.
