AMAZING! No other word for it. Loved this book from start to finish and will be buying a copy. This book has fantastic pictures and tutorials for creating a busy book for babies and toddlers. The work that has gone into this, coupled with the instructions must have been mammoth. The book takes you through materials and sensory objects, tips and tricks and provides gorgeous pics of the whole process. Can't wait to get busy making now! Thanks to the author and Netgalley for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book does come with a few patterns and instructions for doing your own quiet book. It also comes with instructions on how to assemble the book together when you are done. (This is very helpful since it gives several different options.) There are a lot of ideas for creating your own pages and techniques for different types of pages. Im less creative with making my own ideas so I’m glad there are some actual patterns included for me. Would have liked some more though.
Home made scrap fabric books are not as fashionable these days as they once were, which is a great pity. They not only offer a soft tactile experience to a child with a riot of color, but they also keep children amused and can teach them new skills.
This book has lots of ideas, and patterns to make one or many, for that small person in the house, or as a gift.. With lots of practical information on equipment, and safety feature for a child to play with, these are wonderful and easy to make.
Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DRC
This is such a fantastic resource for anyone interested in creating quiet books. The tips and suggestions make this book one that can be used by novice sewers. I really appreciate the various patterns and the simplicity of the instructions. There are so many fun themes that children will definitely enjoy and I am excited to start making a few quiet books myself this winter.
I was drawn to this book because I have small children and love the idea of quiet books for them to interact with. I love how this book had a list of all the materials you will need and gives very detailed instructions on how to create each page, Unfortunately for me, even with all the great details, this is still beyond my abilities. I think this books is great for someone who have some knowledge in sewing/quilting. It's very overwhelming when you do not have any knowledge in those area because even though the instructions are clear, I still didn't know how to carry out those instructions. Despite this, I still highly recommend this book to all the crafty folks out there.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cool book! As someone who has made quiet books before, I still found this to be quite informative. I love that it includes different ways to bind as well as different activities of baby vs toddler books! The layout is great, the photos and instructions are all clear. Definitely a good one for beginners!
I had a cloth busy book as a kid and loved it. I played with it long after I needed it. I loved the lacing page the best. This book brought back all those fond memories. I plan on making busy books for the children in my family and new babies to come. This book includes new ideas and materials that are now available.
A wooden teething ring instead of the toxic plastic ones from the 70s is a welcome update. I loved the clothesline page and the train design. Using felt to make the small pieces easier to handle and sew, no bias edges, is great for beginners. Older kids and teens can learn hand and machine sewing to make busy books for new siblings. A great addition to any sewists or quilters library.
This book was great. It gave simple yet detailed instructions for making children's sensory items. There were also pictures to follow along with the directions, which I loved. These ideas seemed very cost effective and would keep children interested.
An adorable instructional on creating soft quiet books for children and babies. Full of handy tips and ideas. Its time to get the sewing machine out!
Sewing Quiet Books for Children by Lily Zuni is a very cute book for children. I love the dollhouse pattern book. I am going to try making one for my 2 year old granddaughter to play with when they travel. I have some ideas after seeing how the books are put together.
Extremely well written and easily understandable! Definitely worth buying!! I’m so excited to make a few of these for my daughter.
Lots of cute and educational soft books to make for babies and toddlers. I loved all the projects. Also, really like the many ideas presented in the book.
Templates at the back will help to make construction easier. The step-by-step instructions with pictures are clear and easy to follow.
Beautiful and well-done book. Certainly worthwhile if you want to make books as gifts that will be appreciated and treasured.
5 stars from me.
As someone who sews just a bit, I was intrigued by the idea of being able to do projects for children. I think this is an excellent book because it thoughtfully includes everything you'd want in such a book. The directions are presented very clearly, the illustrations are plentiful and helpful, and everything that you would need to know or possess is included. It's extremely well done and also inspirational. Kudos to the author!
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. I will certainly buy a copy when it is published!
