Love Joshilyn Jackson books and was super excited to get an ARC of this one. I actually read it after it was released, sorry!!! I took a little while to get into this one at first, but once I got a good footing of all the characters and what was going on, I really flew through it! It isn’t thriller level, but I appreciated the mystery behind who trying to figure out who the stalker was and trying to guess if it was someone she already knew. There were some unreliable characters that kept me on my toes. I guessed several things before they happened, but didn’t guess the actual stalker, so that was nice. I really loved Honor, she was such a great kid character. My only complaint was that the ending happened quickly and I wanted a little more from it.
Bottom Line: Read it!
**I received a copy of My Little Eye from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own.**
I loved this book! I will definitely recommend it. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This should've been right up my alley, but I struggled with this one. An actress uproots herself and her daughter to escape a stalker. It doesn't work. He has found her and now she is trying to figure out who to trust. There will be an audience for this book. I can't really say why I had trouble with it.
The first 50% of this book was slow and a bit confusing for me. I don't mind multiple POV but since each chapter isn't marked as whose POV you're getting you had to read a little to figure out who was talking.
Just not a fan and it's a shame bc I thought i would really like this one.
Joshilyn Jackson is an auto buy author for me and will continue to be but I didn't love With My Little Eye. I felt the story was slow and I just wasn't invested or a fan of any of the characters. The premise was intriguing but overall the story was a bit of a letdown.
This is my third Joshilyn Jackson book and you can tell why everyone is always foaming at the mouth to read her books when they drop. I really enjoyed this one it was a stalker vs stalkee trope but it felt like more of a drama. I feel like at parts it was more drama than thriller, but the SHOCKING ending more than made up for it. I also LOVED her adopted daughter Honor. She was truly the star of the show. This book was DEFINITELY creepy and made me look over my shoulder for the rest of the week.
Overall, if you are in need of a good fall thriller, add this one to your list ASAP.
Joshilyn Jackson is a wonderful writer and I absolutely loved Never Have I Ever and Mother May I but I had to force myself to finish this book. To be fair I been in a reading slump so it might just be me.
After reading and switching to audio form, I was not able to continue reading this book. I was trying my hardest to connect with the main character but more often than not I was confused and lost. The whole "insta" had me rolling my eyes and it was cringy. I made it maybe 30% and still cannot tell you what is it about. An actress running from her stalker. That's all I got.
To be honest, I was hoping for this book to have more action and twists and turns, or something really shocking, but, sadly, it wasn't the case. Anyway, I liked some of the characters and their backgrounds.
I was really enjoying this one most of the way through until the identity of Meribel’s stalker was revealed and it was a bit out there for me. Was it enough to derail the entire book? No, but it did make me pause until all of the sub plots started to come together at the end. I wished we would have gotten there a little faster and overall this was a good read but not my favorite of hers.
Thank you to William Morrow Books and NetGalley for the digital copy to review.
Jackson has long been an auto-read author for me. The plot of this new thriller had me continually going WAIT, WHAT?! There's intriguing misdirection and the twists will keep you guessing. Recommend!
Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of books that revolve around actresses being stalked and truly I never have been. There’s just something so unrealistic about the plots of these books that I have never been able to get into them.
I won't even pretend...The point at which I decided to DNF was around 80%. I don't care what happened at the end after I read the others' reviews. I have too many other books to get through. As horrible as this was....I gave it three stars since I enjoy this author's other works so much, but this one needs to be revised. Who uproots and starts over in another state because of a stalker? Marker Man is the stalker, and she is an actress. He's been writing her ominous notes and making her feel "watched" constantly. The language was often difficult to read and the story as a whole felt artificial. The characters' actions came out as inauthentic and ignorant. Without chapter headings, I had trouble keeping track of who was speaking. At no time was I even remotely interested. I'm disappointed because this writer has long been one of my favorites. I read as far as I did because it was an advanced copy, but this book was not for me. The author's future books will hopefully rectify this.
For the Arc, we must thank NG. The 25th of April, 2023: AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC
Meribel Mills was an actress and has always been watching for people that are a little too attached to the characters. She starts getting strange letters that are very unhinged and decides she's in danger.
She and her daughter, Honor, from LA to Georgia to give them space and a sense of security. She quickly feels like she is being watched and then the letters return.
This is a twisty thriller with lots of unexpected things throughout the book.
While this is not my favorite book Joshilyn Jackson has written, it is still a good book that I will recommend to my thriller loving friends.
I look forward to her next creation.
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced readers copy.
A 2-star rating means it was ok. This was that, and a bit of a struggle to finish. I've enjoyed earlier Jackson books, and her personal narration as well, but neither met my expectations here.
I am grateful to NetGalley for the e-galley, but I waited for the audio version.
I found myself really enjoying this slow burn mystery. It’s not an edge of your seat thriller, but it was an easy book to slip into and just follow where it flowed. Honor was a great character and easily my favorite in the book. I found the switching POVs a bit tricky, and I wish the chapters would have had titles to allow the reader to know whose POV you were reading. My main problem with the book was the ending. I did not like how abruptly the book just stopped. It left me with so many questions and with an unfinished feeling. The book goes from 90 mph to zero and it has me wondering if the finished copies maybe have more chapters than the eARCs, I hope so.
This is a story of a stalker who is going after an older actress. Meribel is a single mother who moves herself and daughter from California to Atlanta to get away from a crazed fan. It doesn't help, he follows her. Who else might be watching—her ex-husband? The lover she left behind in LA? Her new neighbor? Suddenly, every man in her life is a suspect, but she can’t keep herself and her daughter safe from a monster she can’t identify. When the paths of all of these men collide, Meribel will find herself alone in the fight of her life, desperate to protect those she loves as danger closes in from all sides. I didn't really get into this story. I am a big Joshilyn Jackson fan and got a copy of this book based only on the author. I hate to admit I was a little disappointed.
I should begin by saying I didn’t finish this book, but by the time I jumped ship around 40% in, the characters had all utterly frustrated me. Perhaps I missed a vital plot point later on, but the stupid and reckless choices made by every adult character were not offset by any charisma or chemistry, and I seriously wanted to shake some sense into them. Have liked previous stories by this author, but this one wasn’t for me

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Thank you to @netgalley for this kindle edition
Slow moving and then bam 💥 everything collides at the end. So only 3.5 stars, from me.
Meribel, a now almost 40 year old actress, who is known for her role on a teen show many years ago, is being stalked. Letters written with a scented marker have been coming to her for years and finally when the stalker finds out where she lives, Meribel and her daughter move to Atlanta. She left her boyfriend in California and uprooted her life. Will the stalker follow her? Could he find her across the country? There are many throwaway storylines to throw the reader off- which sometimes just makes me crazy. When every man in her life becomes a suspect, and she is basically going mad not knowing who it is- Meribel finds herself in the fight for her life when danger gets too close.

Woof, this was a tough one to get through. I generally love Joshilyn Jackson thrillers but this was tough to keep up with. There were many different characters and each chapter was narrated by a different character. Yet there were no chapter titles so you didn't know which chapter correlated with which character. I found this to be confusing and annoying. I was very excited about the premise but found the execution underwhelming.
