Meribel Mills is an actress who receives weird letters from a man who goes by the moniker "The Marker Man" because he writes these letters with a fruit-scented marker. She is terrified for herself and Honor, her adopted autistic daughter. Meribel chooses to go from California to Georgia in order to avoid him, but the letters continue to arrive. She has the feeling she is constantly being watched; who is this Marker man, and what does he want?
I was intrigued by the concept of WITH MY LITTLE EYE. It started slowly, but I felt driven to read because I needed to know who this stalker was. I can't picture this happening to me as a single mother. How scary!! Overall, I did enjoy this book but I would have loved an epilogue.
I really enjoyed this book. It was faces paced and kept my interest. Meribel is an actress who is being stalked. It had gotten to the point that she had to flee across the country to escape. If only it were that easy. This book takes you on her journey of being stalked and escaping her stalker. No one is who they seem. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the ending. There were a lot of loose ends.
This isn't my favorite one by this author. I found the story dragged on a bit and a lot of the exciting action was near the end. I did like the twists, but it's not as captivating as I was hoping it would be.
Joshilyn Jackson's books are always fast reads for me and never disappoint. With My Little Eye is the perfect stalker book. I would definitely recommend.
I feel like I need to preface this that I adore Joshilyn Jackson and I love everything she has written. Until now. With My Little Eye fell flat for me on so many levels. It started off strong and promising. About midway through the book, I found myself skimming and questioning why I was even reading it. The plot was all over the place and I was extremely disappointed with how she brought all of the pieces “together”. I was hoping for some amazing twist and what I got was a big jumbled mess. A disappointment for sure, but since I’ve loved Jackson’s prior work, I’m not giving up on her just yet.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This novel follows our main character, Meribel Mills who was a sitcom actress from a famous show & has been receiving inappropriate fan mail & being stalked by someone named "Marker Man" due to his letters coming from scented markers. Due to being stalked, Meribel moves from LA to Georgia where she used to live with her adopted daughter. But, this doesn't stop Marker Man and Merbiel comes to the realization that he will not stop & starts getting paranoid about all the men in her life... who could this man be?
Although the storyline of this book was really interesting to me but unfortunately it fell flat. It was definitely readable, and I enjoyed doing so but it was not a nail biting thriller that I tend to devour. This story honestly did not pick up till about 65-70% and after that it was pretty fast paced.
Another issue I had was the amount of POV's we had. Meribel, Cooper, Marker Man, and even Honor. Especially since the POV's aren't labels we kinda have to spend a good page or two to understand whose point of view we are following. A simple label would have made it a little easier to read - and maybe even gotten a higher star in my book.
All in all, this was an interesting read but not something I would write home about. Interesting yes, but still a little flat!
Thank you Netgalley & William Morrow for an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for my honest review.
Overall, this was a disappointment. The story was too slow to really immerse myself in the story and it was a struggle to stay with it.
This book was a pretty good, easy to read thriller. My only issue is that I didn’t find any of the characters likeable. In fact, I found most of them extremely annoying and their behaviors / actions to be not believable. The premise is good, but for me, it just needed more fleshing out. I didn’t hate it and I did want to keep reading - it kept me guessing right up to the end! 3.5 stars
“With My Little Eye” is Joshilyn Jackson’s newest novel. Actress Meribel Mills is surprised when she starts receiving unsettling fan notes written in scented marker. Now a single mom in her forties, she isn’t the hot commodity she once was. However that doesn’t stop this strange fan she’s dubbed the ‘Marker Man’ from sending increasingly more concerning letters. Drawings of her chopped up and naked are enough to make Meribel move across the country with her child to escape this stalker. Despite the move, Meribel still feels like she’s being followed, and now everyone in her life is a suspect.
I am fascinated by stalkers and I’ve actually watched a lot of documentaries on the subject. I would say this book is fairly accurate in its depictions of stalking. I did find this book a bit confusing in terms of the unlabeled shift in POVs, but overall I did find this novel enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the ARC of “With My Little Eye” by Joshilyn Jackson.
Meribell Mills is an actress in LA, but she has a stalker that forces her to move back to Atlanta. He finds her though and begins sending her and her daughter threatening notes. Her daughter, Honor, is autistic and has trouble making friends. She meets Shiela, an older girl in the apartment building and together they learn about the stalker. I always enjoy Joshilyn Jackson, and this one was a solid read - not my favorite of hers, but still a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.
I was really into this book from the very beginning, and flew through the first third of it really quickly. Then I must have misread something because I thought something happened in the book that didn’t. That really threw me off. I think there was just too many storylines going on that it was hard to keep everything straight. It all came together at the end but I was very confused and it felt drawn out at points.
I like the reason for the title, an actress that has the unique ability to feel when someone is watching her and someone is watching her! An interesting psychological thriller. I do like this author!
I LOVEd about the first 1/3 of this book--the character was well developed and engaging. It was so interesting her background working in movies, and how it delved into that career field (I love learning while I'm reading!). I also love how the author did a great job addressing the MC having a daughter on the spectrum. It all felt very REAL, which I love in books. I also loved how there were 2 love interests, and how she weaved back and forth between them, adding intrigue. This book fell flat for me about 2/3 in. It just felt too easy, too predictable, and I found myself frustrated with the ending.
fast paced thriller that i couldn't put down
thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the copy for review
I accidentally posted the wrong review here I will post an updated review as soon as it is ready. Thank you!
This was a letdown for me. I considered DNFing a few times but continued on side this was a ARC copy for review.
I found the multiple POV confusing and unclear. There were multiple side story lines that were similar and pointless for the plot as a whole. I think the book could have been a lot shorter and to the point without the story of Shelia, Cam and even Cooper. It became obvious who the stalker was not about halfway through so then I knew their story was pointless as they just served as a character for a distraction.
The last 10% of the book did have me on the edge of my seat so I will give the story some credit for that. Overall I do not recommend this book. I do thank NetGalley and Harper Collins for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
I have enjoyed this author for quite a while. This book fell a bit short for me. The main character acts a bit dumb in places and it is overly dramatic in others. But, I did enjoy the suspense side. It does move quickly.
With My Little Eye

Review and Rating 3 ⭐️
Full disclosure, I am a big fan of Joshilyn Jackson and have loved her last several books, so I was so excited to read With My Little Eye. I’ve sat on this review for two months trying to come up with an appropriate rating.
With My Little Eye is about Meribel Mills, an aging actress, as well as a single mother to neurodivergent daughter Honor, who moves cross country to escape a dangerous stalker her daughter has dubbed Marker Man.
This was definitely not my favorite Joshilyn Jackson, but I think a lot of the bad reviews I am seeing are people going into this not realizing this is a psychological thriller, her last books have all been a little twisted!
No spoilers here, I just didn’t like the main character, which makes it hard to sympathize with her. Also, the story includes many POV’s and lots of storylines which makes the story confusing. However, it was a thriller and entertaining at times and I loved the daughter character, Honor.
Overall, while I probably wouldn’t recommend this particular Joshilyn Jackson book, if you’re thinking about it and have enjoyed her other recent psychological thrillers, it’s worth a read. 3 ⭐️
I want to thank William Morrow and #NetGalley for an eARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

***Note*** I seldom give ⭐️or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ratings. If I feel a book is a ⭐️sometimes I just prefer to not finish reading it and not rate it. As for 5 ⭐️books, I think of those as books I would want to take with me to a deserted island 🏝️, and this means I read a whole lot of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️star books. Happy Reading!
I think that the plot of this book is good but it took a while to get me on the hook. I was a little bored during the first half but I am glad I hung in. The last half had a surprise that i didn’t forsee.
Many thanks to William Morr and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
WOW. With My Little Eye was a 10/10 on the creep factor! I think it truly says something about an author's writing when they are able to get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up while reading -- which was certainly the case for this book! Jackson did an exceptional job with character development and her detailed settings, I felt all of the anxiety that Meribel felt while trying to evade and then track down her stalker. A must read!!
