This is the second book I’ve picked up by this author and once again, I am completely disappointed… is this author just not for me?

I wanted to love this book so much more, it had such an interesting premise with a stalker who stalks an actress… but she was a side character? Makes no sense.

Usually, when I pick up a thriller it’s because I want something tense and quick, but this book was so slow. It took a while for anything interesting to happen.

I did love Honor’s character, but everyone else was so unlikeable.

The autistic rep with Honor was great, but everything else wasn’t my kind of thing. The ending was so underwhelming and it was way too slow… this may not be an author for me.

Thank you so much NetGalley and William Morrow for the review copy in exchange for my honest review!

Who moves across the country to elude a stalker? A woman, still working as a actress. That's who. Such is the start of this implausible book that I really regretted even reading. The main character is truly unlikable and frankly quite dumb. The men in this story were unrealistically portrayed as well. The main mystery revolves around finding out just who is stalking this actress. I didn't really care in the end. Not the worst book I have ever read but I cannot recommend it to anyone.

Meribel Mills and her daughter move from Los Angeles to Atlanta for a fresh start and to evade a stalker. Meribel is a famous actress and she starts getting creepy fan mail from a stalker she nicknames Marker Man. After their move, she begins to notice odd things around their new home, such as mens cologne on her sheets and missing items. Suddenly every man in her life becomes a suspect and she has no idea who her stalker could be.
I honestly didn't care much for this book. It wasn't completely terrible but it could have been improved in several ways. My main issue was how slow the first part of the book was, I prefer ones that are faster paced. The other part of the book kind of made up for it but I still wasn't overly impressed with this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

I was really excited for this book and was eager to start it. As I got further into it I found myself bored and wanting to pick up something else. I ended up DNFing it. I wasn’t connecting with the characters and ended up not caring about the outcome.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

What a total page turner! I had to keep reading just to find out the next event. There were multip.e characters that fit the stalker but was I shocked at the end? Yes! This book was well written with great characters and I love the authors writing style. It was a great read.

This book was very good. It was twisty and hard to put down. I enjoyed these characters and their back stories. I also loved how it changed views from different people.

With My Little Eye is a super creepy read. Told from multiple perspectives, former actress Meribel moves to Georgia to escape a stalker, but soon comes to find out someone is still watching her. Though enjoyable and entertaining, this book did fall a little short for me. Nothing really felt believable, and there were several major subplots that just felt disconnected from the rest of the story. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves creepy thrillers.

With My Little Eye is a entertainment-industry stalker thriller where actress Meribel has run home to Georgia to escape her Hollywood stalker. I normally love Joshilyn Jackson’s thrillers, but this one wasn’t my favorite of the collection.

For its pros, I thought Jackson did a wonderful job of spinning the alternating plotlines together in a way that wasn’t confusing. There was a lot going on, but I never had a problem keeping it straight. I think the audio copy and full-cast narration helped a lot with this, because from other reviews it sounds like it was hard to keep the POVs straight without chapter titles.

I didn’t like Meribel, I found her whiny and annoying. Cooper and Cam were too similar, so I kept getting them messed up. I was also disappointed by the reveal of the stalker. The storyline with the kids helping the homeless girl was good, but if I had a stalker I’d definitely be paying more attention to what my little kid was doing with whom.

The ending was too cliffhangery for my taste. Some things were resolved but a lot wasn’t and I felt somewhat unsatisfied. An epilogue would’ve been good to wrap up some loose ends, I think.

I’m still a Joshilyn Jackson fan and will pick up her next thriller (especially if it continues to match these covers and titles, I love the theme!), but this is one you can skip.

I love Joshilyn Jackson and was thrilled to receive the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Several aspects felt very … forced to me. The ending fell flat.

Rating: 3/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

With My Little Eye follows Meribel Mills - an actress who has moved to Georgia to evade a stalker she calls “The Marker Man”, but once she’s settled she starts getting letters, dun dun dun…. Interesting concept right?! The execution was however, a little lacking. But Steph, you gave this three stars? Yes, I really enjoyed the one twist. Let me explain…

This one is the truest definition of SLOW BURN, not much happens within the first 75% of the book. It’s very much character building, relationship building, talk about the letters and so on. It was interesting enough to keep my attention, though I will admit, I wanted something to happen. Extremely early on in the book I had my suspicions as to who was doing the stalking. I was not correct on the WHO per se, but I was correct in the sense there just wasn’t something right about that certain someone. The major twist in this one really got me! I really enjoyed it. Where the book really fell flat to me was the reveal as to who The Marker Man was.

This one is told in multiple points of view, which is a huge plus for me, I always enjoy getting the perspective of other characters. You hear from a bunch of the characters from Meribel to her daughter, Honor, to The Marker Man to her friend.

Overall, this one was interesting to the point I wanted to know who The Marker Man was and what exactly he wanted and all of the drama surrounding the story, I just wasn’t a fan of the major reveal, it felt too far from left field. I also wish more happened before the 75% mark. I’m a huge fan of Jacksons work so I’ll definitely keep reading what she puts out!

Huge thank you to @netgalley and @williammorrowbooks and Joshilyn Jackson for me eARC in exchange for my honest review. This was released on 4/25, check it out!

This one starts out a bit slow and then picks up. The main character is being stalked and fears for herself and her daughter, so she picks up and moves to get away from him. This is a mystery thriller with some side plots that will keep you wondering.

I tried so hard to like this book. I requested it months ago and was ecstatic when I was selected and then had that feeling of being almost let down. I am not sure if my expectations were too high but this was just an okay book for me. There were no twists or turns that grabbed me.

This was a highly anticipated read of mine, though it was my first book by the author. Unfortunately, I just didn’t care for the sorry, the characters or much else. I felt the pacing was off, the actions were boring and I wasn’t engaged like I felt I should have been. I appear to be in the minority though, and I’m so happy others have loved this. It just wasn’t for me.

With My Little Eye is the newest book by one of my favorites- Joshilyn Jackson. I devour her books and often listen to them as well -I love her narration!
I’m sad to say this one wasn’t my favorite. I still enjoyed it but I didn’t feel as connected to the characters and story as I normally do.
I always think it’s best to go into Joshilyn’s stories without knowing too much, and I would advise that for this new one as well.
I would definitely recommend this book, i just happen to like some of her others a little better. Still an enjoyable read!

Twisty and sometimes a lot of fun this is the story of a sorta-famous actress, her autistic daughter, and the horrible men in her life.
I took a long time to review this book because there was a lot I enjoyed (the twists, the insight into living with fears that so many women have) and yet I hated spending time in the heads (& narration) of so many misogynistic (& woefully stupid) men.

Actress Meribel Mills is terrified. Her stalker not only sends threatening notes and pictures scrawled in scented marker, he's been in her home. She hoped that moving cross country with her daughter would buy them some time, but she still feels that she's being watched.

I absolutely loved this book. The characters were engaging and I really wanted things to end well for all of them. I found myself turning pages with an ever increasing sense of dread, not wanting to read what was about to happen, but unable to put the book down. I wasn't ready for the book to to over, because I wanted to spend more time with Meribel and her daughter, but the ending is absolutely satisfying.

I love a good stalker story and I love Joshilyn Jackson, so I figured I didn't have anything to lose with With My Little Eye. Although this may not be my personal favorite among her works and was a lot slower in the beginning than I would have liked it to be, I still really enjoyed this story. I didn't care that Meribel was an actress, and I loved her daughter who just so happens to be one of the many viewpoints that we get. Numerous subplots are unfolding simultaneously but they were not hard to follow, and they certainly kept things interesting although they don't all fully play out which was kind of weird.

For anyone who doesn't know, Jackson actually narrates her own audiobooks, and she was our MC Meribel. However, she didn't take this all on by herself (lots of viewpoints remember), and the other narrators were Maisy Jane, Graham Halstead, Jeremy Arthur, Jesse Vilinsky & Michael Crouch. As much as I love that Jackson narrates all her books, I actually didn't find her to be quite right for Meribel and I have to admit, she detracted a bit from the story for me. Reading this might be more enjoyable if you can push through the slower bits. The stalker really took me by surprise, and it wasn't anyone I would have expected but it did feel a little left field. I also wasn't truly satisfied with the ending, and it felt incomplete to me. Despite everything, I still consider this author a must-buy for me and I'm eagerly looking forward to discovering what she has in store for us next.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Meribel, a B-list actress, moves herself and her daughter across the country to get away from an escalating stalker situation. Suffice it to say that things don’t improve when it becomes apparent that her stalker follows, not far behind.
Just what you’d expect from Joshilyn Jackson - a good, fun domestic thriller.

Meribel Mills has always been able to feel when someone is watching her (a handy gift for an actress), but when she gets a creepy feeling in Atlanta after moving back from L.A. to escape a stalker, she starts to wonder if those eyes belong to someone she knows…

Meribel & her autistic soon-to-be-13-year-old daughter, Honor, are starting to settle into their new life in Georgia - they have a nice new neighbor named Cooper, Honor becomes friends with another neighbor (teenage girl named Sheila), & Meribel is prepping for her role in a TV series filming nearby. But they haven’t been in their new apartment long before Meribel starts getting more letters & a creepy package from her stalker; it turns out Mirabel’s ex from L.A. (a former military security specialist) is in town, & Cooper’s convinced that it’s him. Meribel has another suspect in mind: her ex-husband from before she went to L.A. Meanwhile, Honor & Sheila make another friend & that storyline has its own fair share of craziness.

I thought this novel was going to be your typical cut & dried stalker story, probably with a few twists here & there; but I was pleasantly surprised by a major bombshell roughly two-thirds of the way into the story, & then there was even more to unravel approaching the end of the book. I really liked how Honor had huge things happening in her life that were separate from Meribel’s stalker saga, & enjoyed how the story kept coming back to how different perspectives on events influence how they are understood.

Thank you to William Morrow & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've been a fan of Joshilyn Jackson since early in her career when she wrote women's fiction set in the South. There's a thread of mystery in all of her plots, but I was very surprised when she wrote her first suspense/thriller in 2019. With My Little Eye is her third thriller, and it will be the last book of hers I plan to read.

Meribel Mills, an aging actress, has a stalker that mails her disturbing notes. When she lands an acting gig in Atlanta, it provides a great reason for her and her teen daughter Honor to leave California, and hopefully her stalker, for awhile. But Honor is neurodivergent so change is hard, and soon the bizarre notes reeking of fruit-scented marker show up at their new apartment. Will Meribel ever feel safe again?

I'm not going to provide any more detail about the plot because it's too crazy to summarize. It's unevenly paced - so slow for much of the novel, and then all of the action happens in the last 20 percent. The story is told from (too) many points of view which was hard to track. Honor was the only character I could cheer for.

If you want to read this author's work, I recommend her backlist, especially Gods in Alabama or The Almost Sisters.

Thank you to William Morrow for the review copy of this novel.
