I originally thought that this book would be filled with questions related to human behavior and the ocean, especially as the author wrote that they were inspired by viewing the ocean during the pandemic. However, it more of a book about pee. It includes information about what makes up pee, how pee was used in the past, and how pee impacts the environment. While we do have students who are interested in checking out books about various bodily functions, they usually prefer books that are tied to other facts (e.g., books that also include information about the animal) or that are shorter. In this case, only the last 2 chapters talk more about the ocean than about urine. This is really a niche book that would require you to know your audience when deciding whether to purchase.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me review this story. My opinions are entirely my own.
I greatly enjoyed this book that connect pollution, oceans and our urine. I found it very thorough and yet fun to read. This is not something usually found in educational books. I loved the experiments that help prove what the book is explaining.
The only thing I did not like was that I was not told if I can swim in rivers. I'll err on the side of caution and find a restroom.
This was such an informative book for both kids and adults! Easy to understand language and pictures make it a perfect book to teach kids about their own bodies and whether it's okay to pee in the ocean. The title drew me to this book, and I am so glad I selected it to read. I might recommend it to my teacher friends.
