Based on the artists webcomic, this is an adorably witchy tale of kitchen witch moving into a haunted house. It’s a story of ridding the house of it’s spectral occupants while making new friends. The artwork is enchanting and the characters, supernatural but still feel familiar and like members of your family or friend circle.

Unfamiliar is a magical graphic novel following Planchette, a kitchen witch who is moving into a new house. Planchette soon discovers that her new home is haunted and she must find new friends in town to help her get her house full of ghosts to pass on. Planchette finds new friends in a siren, a cursed girl, and a witch who can't do magic.

Unfamiliar is so fun and cute! The story has themes of friendship and care. I loved how the girls came together to help one another. I also enjoyed learning about the different ghosts in Planchette's house and what aspect of their past life was held them back from passing on. The art is so beautiful and colorful! I thoroughly enjoyed Planchette's story. I would recommend Unfamiliar to anyone who loves cute graphic novels filled with magic.

Welcome to a town full of ghosts and witches, where magic is daily business, a siren wants to loose her powers, a witch has a ton of ghost roommates and one single girl runs every shop.

This was a wonderful comic with lovely characters to immediately adore as well as great little story arcs. Def. recommend for all the witchy people out there.

I loved the storyline of the three girls working together to make each other's lives better, as well as the ghosts' lives better. The art style wasn't my favourite but I did like the colour tones, as they created creepy vibes that went well with the art.

What a fun story!

Unfamiliar follows a cast of young witches—Planchette, who moves into a haunted house in a magical town and needs help removing the ghosts, and her magical friends, a shy siren who hates being popular, a girl battling a curse given to her by her family, and a witch struggling to learn magic who comes from a powerful family—who all need help from each other. They team up to tackle their problems and learn more about their magic.

It’s a quick, wholesome story, that would be perfect for young readers. This is just the first installment, but already the story was fun and the artwork really added to the whimsy of the story.

This is definitely the story to pick up if you’re looking for a fun, quick, wholesome read!

Unfamiliar was such a cute graphic novel! It focuses on Planchette, a cooking witch, who moves to a new house in a magical town. However, her new house is haunted! So Planchette sets out to get the ghosts to leave, which includes befriending a siren, Babs, a girl battling a curse, Sun, and a magically-challenged witch, Pinyon.

The story is fast paced, with subplots and beautiful art. Throughout these various friendships and challenges we understand what it means to be vulnerable and to trust others and with the help of friends, anything is possible. This book is perfect for older and younger audiences but there are themes of death, missing children, mention of muder and the loss of loved ones (nothing happens on page, but there are ghosts!). Out of all the characters I loved Babs and Sun the most. I related to them the most, introverted, what’s to be left alone and also working so hard at a million jobs to just get by! If you love stunning graphics and a great but complicated story about friendship, you need to pick this up!

I’m really looking forward to reading the next volume and seeing what the characters get up to next!

A fun quick read, very whimsical and cute! Who doesn't love a kitchen witch on a mission? The only downside to this is I didn't feel connected to the character as much as I would of liked.

This was such a cute graphic novel. We follow Planchette, a kitchen witch, who has just moved into her own house. Unfortunately, it's haunted. She runs in to town to see if there is another witch who can help her. The story continues from there as she makes new friends and figures out how to get rid of the ghosts in her house.

The art style is great and I liked the color palette. I loved their clothes! Her dress with the puffy skull sleeves is perfection. I also adore the familiars and wish I had one of my own. I'm excited to read the next in the series and see where it takes us!

Love the cute but kooky /witchey illustrations. Also enjoyed all the differny characters and their familiars. Found the world they live in pretty interesting.

The only thing I found lacking is that the story was a little underwhelming.

This was a pretty cute graphic novel! Perfect for when you need something cute and wholesome, and not at all heavy to read!

I absolutely love the friendship and artstyle in this, as well as the world-building and the witchy magic we see here. Cant wait for Vol 2, because I need more of this found-family and the developing friendships (and possible love???) we see here!

Unfamiliar has a cute premise, but feels really unpolished. This could definitely use some editing in terms of the dialogue and multiple storylines - I hate to bring up the fact that it's a webcomic because I really love the medium, but this feels like it wasn't smoothed out at all between being self-publishing online and publishing as a book.

After reading a lot of intense fantasies, this was just the breath of fresh air I needed! Following Planchette make friends and help out the ghosts haunting her new home was so endearing. I love cozy stories like this, and I had a great time reading it cuddled up in my bed with a candle burning.

Unfamiliar is an adorable and cozy witchy comic! Planchette is a kitchen witch who specializes in food, which is no help when her new home turns out to be haunted. She ventures into town where she meets a cast of colorful characters. Definitely worth the read!

“Young kitchen witch Planchette gets an incredible deal on a new house in a magical town. Turns out, there’s a reason: it’s haunted! After unsuccessfully attempting to get these unwanted ghosts to leave, she realizes the only thing to do is to help them with their problems. Along the way she befriends a shy siren who hates being popular, a girl battling a curse, and a magically-challenged witch from a powerful coven.”

This book was undoubtedly adorable. The pictures were well done and it was an easy read from beginning to end. However, I really don’t remember much about it. Could it be that it’s been a while since I’ve read it? Yes. However, even after finishing this book I barely remembered what happened. None of the characters were necessarily rememberable.
