Romance? Check, Sweet and Steamy? Check. Drama? Check. Comedy? Check.
This book was such a good balance of romance and comedy that it was one of the best I've come across in a while.
Erin was just a loveable character. I was really excited for a character that bakes and be able to relate to. However, her bakery is certainly not intended for children's birthday parties. But she loves it and is giving it her all. It'll help her ignore the crap shoot that is her ex who is stalking her, at least that is the hope.
Nolan is a layer with his own past of relationship drama with a crazy ex of his own. He's one of those characters that once you get to know him he really is a good guy.
When the two of them meet it was supposed to be just professional, there was no time for anything more with what they have going on in their personal lives. Well, we all know that wasn't going to remain the case for very long.
The crazy ex drama is there, the romantic comedy is there. You'll laugh and cry and fall in love with this book. I will say to go with a little caution for those with experience of a bad ex/abuse. It's not overwhelming but there are points that could be triggering for some.
Overall, as my first by Monica, it was a great introduction into her work and this series and I will certainly be looking forward to more from her.
I could not get past rhe first few pages it was just so silly, I really don't think anyone has a job making x rated cakes and the interaction between the two friends was too over the top
I recently had the pleasure of reading "The Sweet Spot" by Monica Myers, and let me tell you, it truly lives up to its name. This sweet and sensual rom-com had me hooked from the very beginning, and I couldn't put it down until the very end.
The story starts off on a sweet note, with a touch of humor, as we are introduced to Erin, a talented baker who specializes in creating erotic treats. From breast-shaped cupcakes to risqué bridal shower cakes, Erin's creations are truly an art form. I never knew that erotic bakery could be such a fascinating world!
The meet-cute between Erin and Nolan, the lawyer in charge of an office bachelor party, had me laughing out loud. When Erin is called in to rescue the party's missing stripper, the chemistry between her and Nolan sparks instantly. From there, their relationship takes off, and the story becomes hotter and hotter with each turn of the page.
One aspect that I really appreciated about this book was the way the author developed the characters. Myers has a knack for creating three-dimensional, relatable characters, and I found myself fully invested in their stories. However, I must admit that Stirling, one of the characters, was truly awful, and I couldn't help but despise him. But that just goes to show how well-written he was!
"The Sweet Spot" is the first book in a series, and I'm already looking forward to the next installment. Olivia, Erin's daughter, seems to have a knack for meddling, and I can't help but wonder what kind of hilarious and heartwarming situations she'll find herself in next.
The plot may have had some predictable moments, but that didn't dampen my enjoyment of the book. The witty dialogue and comedic situations had me chuckling throughout, and the steamy romance was just right. I also appreciated the dual point of view, which seems to be a popular trend in contemporary romance these days. It added depth to the story and allowed me to truly understand both Erin and Nolan's perspectives.
One standout character for me was Alana, Nolan's hilarious and witty personal assistant. I hope the author considers giving her a book of her own in the future, as she brought so much humor and charm to the story.
Overall, "The Sweet Spot" is a confection of a book. It's a perfect blend of sweetness, heat, and humor, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and lighthearted read. Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy of this delightful book.
Erin Donovan is a baker and is owning being single. She also rocks at the designs she makes and the orders that she gets for her erotic-themed designs. Nolan Reid is single also but is dealing with an ex who just has not learned the definition of ex. Erin and Nolan meet and form there the two have funny moments around those themed inspired treats that Erin makes but will it be enough to bring the two of them together? A really fun story with really good characters and many funny moments, very much worth the read.
I laughed so much reading this book. It was a fun, refreshing, contemporary love story. I had no idea erotic baking was even a thing, so I surely learned a thing or two! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun read!
When you own a bakery specializing in erotic-themed treats, life is bound to have its share of comedic mishaps. Meeting the man of your dreams after he mistakenly locks you in a six-foot cake? Well, that one definitely takes the, er, cake.
World-weary workaholic Erin Donavan has made peace with her single status. So when smart and charming attorney Nolan Reid enters her life via a meet cute for the ages, Erin’s guard is up. She’s been sweet-talked before and all she has to show for it is a borderline-creepy ex who can’t take a hint. Thanks, but no thanks.
Nolan has his own clingy ex, but right now he’s not thinking about her. He’s too busy wondering if it’s Erin’s desserts or her lips that have his mouth watering. If only Nolan could be sure he isn’t destined to turn into his shiftless father, he might be able to admit he and Erin have all the right ingredients for lasting love.
Of course, there are still those meddlesome exes to contend with…
Together, are these two nothing but a hot mess—or can they hope to find the sweet spot?
Thank you to net galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this book. A wonderfully written contemporary romance that you're bound to enjoy!
Monica Myers' "The Sweet Spot" is a delightful contemporary romance that serves up a perfect blend of sweetness and passion. The story revolves around two characters who find themselves thrown together in a small town and discover a love that is both unexpected and undeniable. Myers' writing is engaging and filled with heartfelt moments, making it easy to become invested in the characters' journey. With its endearing romance and charming setting, "The Sweet Spot" is a feel-good read that will leave readers with a warm heart.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Erin and Nolan. Erin is a baker. Nolan is a lawyer. There is an instant attraction. They both have crazy ex girlfriend and ex boyfriend who have shaken their trust. But together they build each other up and fall in love.
This book was a real eye opener to me. Has never heard of this type of cake making and it made for a funny and interesting read. Would recommend
What a wonderfully delightful book this was!… Jam packed full of fun and laughs… Lots of light-hearted moments, emotional scenes and parts which will have you laughing out loud!…
Overall the plot was good but maybe it was drawn out longer than needed.
Too much exes drama if you ask me, but it was an easy read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Sweet Spot is part romantic comedy and part trigger warning stalker issue, and a significant amount of miscommunication. I liked the characters just fine, especially the side characters (better than the mains). But there was so much miscommunication and also I dont think i could have forgave some of it, no matter how it turned out. The ending was nice, but I wish there had been even more consequences for some of the characters. The book says book 1, so i am guessing there is a book about Olivia to come which will be fun especially if I can get several hundred pages of Granny V.
I loved this book! The setting with the erotic bakery, just screams this is going to be a fun read. It led to such hilarious and awkward situations, and I could not stop laughing at times. It also set up for some hot and steamy tension between the main characters. I really liked the dynamic between Erin and Nolan, what went from a completely embarrassing first encounter, to wanting to see each other more and more, but still equally tricky situations. With each meeting feelings grow, and they each lend the other a helping hand and support. I did have a couple of issues with Nolan, he did open his mouth sometimes before he thought about what he was saying and did the same thing with some of the decisions he made, I was like why! That being said, it did not take away from this book. There was some heart racing and scary moments, that propelled this story and the relationship forward, adding a little bit more seriousness to the story.
Please go pick this fun romance up, it is an amazing time, it was so funny, sweet and I could not put it down!
Trigger warnings: Stalking
I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
The Sweet Spot is the first book in the Tasty Temptation series by Monica Myers and the first book I have read by this author. It was fast-paced and fully of steamy romance. The crazy exes and their crazy endeavors kept me reading for more laughs! This was a book that was easy to get lost in. I’m glad I discovered this author and look forward to future books.
The Sweet Spot was cute and fun but also had some major content warnings and tough themes. Both main characters are dealing with horrific exes and themes of abuse, cyber bullying and constant manipulation are included.
I thought the idea of an erotic bakery was such a cute and funny way to bring Erin and Nolan together, especially when he hires her for a birthday party not really understanding the business model. The sex scenes were really good too. There was a lot of emotional ups and downs throughout the book due to the other storylines though so don’t go into this one looking for a fun rom com like I did!
A slow burn romance book.... A different kind of Baker to say the least but I thought it was original.. This book was funny, some drama and some sexy scenes... I really enjoyed it.
This was a fun romance read, it was short and sweet and i love the spicy moments, the characters had chemistry and it was such a unique job for the mc i really enjoyed it, thank you Net Galley for the ARC.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First in a new series. This was hilarious with lots of miscommunication!! I loved some of the characters Granny V, Jayden and Alana. You notice that the main characters are not on that list. They are just ok. Its a cute story. 4 stars Can't wait to see who is next and what shenanigans they get up to.
THE SWEET SPOT By Monica Myers
Erin is a workaholic who specializes in erotic themed treats with a creepy a** ex. Nolan is a charming attorney with his very own clingy ex.

I loved the unique storyline with this book. I think the MC's could have given us a little more of themselves but this was a quick read that had everything I'm looking for in a romance!
