Accidentally Famous by Marissa Clarke is the second book in the Hideaway Harbor series. Once again Blink, Maine is inundated with people from away, who are charmed by the people and places in rural Maine.
Cassidy James is from Blink, Maine. A teeny, tiny town on the coast of Maine. She is rehabbing an old home that she really would like to own. Her dream house in her hometown with loads of friends and eventually her brother helping her with the family business.
Jack Winston is a big movie star. He has been working hard and keeping to himself. When he asks his assistant to send a text to his sister, she accidentally sends it to Cassidy James of Blink, Maine. Suddenly there is an onslaught on news about Cassidy James and Jack Winston.
Suddenly Cassidy is picking up thousands of viewers watching her rehab and then the phone calls and the photographers start showing up. Cassidy has no idea what is going on, except she is stalked constantly and her life is being taken over.
Jack figures out what has happened and travels to Blink, Maine to help explain and extricate Cassidy from this situation. What really happens is that Jack meets a real person who is someone who he can care for, if everyone will just leave them alone for long enough.
Accidentally Famous by Marissa Clarke is a hoot to read!!!
It's a lighthearted and fun story set in a small town. I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved all the characters. When the assistant of a Hollywood star tags someone by mistake it changes his life. He decides to use the rumors that have started and use this opportunity to create a different image of himself. His life is finally getting back on track and he wants to keep up the right kind of image for the press. That's why he needs to meet with Cassidy and ask for her help.
Cassidy runs her father's construction company. She has always lived in Blink and never considered leaving the town. When a friend suggests she should start posting videos on Youtube, she never imagined it will actually make her famous. The only problem is that her fame is not because of her work, but in the long-run does that even matter? As long as this new-founded fame helps her brother when he takes over the company, there is nothing more she can ask for. And that's why she agrees to help Jack.
But when do things go as planned? What starts as a fake dating soon becomes something more and now, they both have choices to make. Their lives are worlds apart and it will take a miracle for them to find some common ground. In any case, love is in the air and Cassidy & Jack are willing to give real relationship a try.
Overall, it's a nice story. I enjoy the warmth and lightheartedness of it. I'm not really a fan of angsty romance, so this one is perfect for me. I'd recommend it to all romcom lovers.
Enjoyable romance on the whole, adheres to the small town vibe really well. However, the romantic pairing itself left me a little bit wanting - wanting more of everything from them, never mind heat. More chemistry, more conflict, more 'something needs to happen'. Consequently, the writing also felt like it dragged a little (and a lot in many places - I mean, 20%+ into the book, and the two protagonists hadn't even met, let alone been on the same page yet. And the start was totally misleading - I kept checking that I was reading the right ebook file because it just seemed to go in a completely other direction...which never really clocks/amounts to anything in the story, to be honest)
So overall, an enjoyable read, but it wasn't much more than that for me, unfortunately
"When she'd first thought of herself with Jack, it had been hard to imagine. A movie star and a construction worker. It seemed impossible. But now they were Jack and Cassidy and it felt right."
This was such a sweet rom-com read! The circumstances that led Jack to Cassidy felt natural and funny. I love that she's into construction. It was fun to read about her work on Dolores. Now I want a beautiful old home! Jack is what you expect in a movie star - he's definitely swoon worthy but down to earth. I enjoy his relationship with his sister. It felt authentic. And Megalodon Marion was quite the character. I didn't think I'd feel so many feelings about a side character but Marion had all kinds of facets to her.
I love small town romances! It's like a found family of tightknit friends and I truly enjoyed their relationships. Roger was another funny side character. I wasn't sure what he was up to half the time. I didn't realize this is the second book in the series so it's entirely possible to read it as a standalone but now I can't wait to go back and read the first one. This one had me laughing and crying. I love when I feel all the feels! I can't wait to see what Marissa comes up with next!!
Thanks to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for my review copy!!
I loved the unique, modern storyline and everything that made Cassidy and Jack who they were as characters. I loved that Cassidy was in a line of work typically only occupied by men. Her love for her family, her hometown and classic things was contagious. Jack was such a sweet character, I loved seeing the evolution of who he was and what was important to him. The sweet romance was something straight out of a Hallmark movie and the supporting characters were a delight as well. I recommend this one!
This was the second in the Hideaway Harbor series and it was just as good as the first. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. These books have sweet, classy romances and again, I wish I could live in a town like Blink. It sounds picturesque!
I enjoyed this fun story. Famous movie star meets small town home renovator sets the science for fireworks. Full of laughs this book will tickle the funny bone as well as you romance heart strings.
Well my fave trope has done me dirty. The problem when you read any celeb romance with zero vetting is that sometimes you don’t even get the satisfaction of ONE moment of intimacy beyond some chaste kissing. WAAAAAAH, what a waste of time.
This book had a lot of characters and I cared about none of them mainly because they were all poorly developed caricatures- plucky small town female construction worker, recovered bad boy actor, overbearing manager, nervous assistant, blue collar townies with hearts of gold. Everyone seemed to have dead parents or spouses in this small town in Maine where apparently the death rate is 85%.
The jist of the story is there’s a former bad boy actor (we never find out any of the bad things he used to do). Actor has a Putin-esque manager who walks all over him even tho he pays her salary. After his assistant accidentally tags a rando home renovator from Maine (Cassidy) in one of his IG posts, Putin decides it would be a great plan for Actor and Lady Jesus the Carpenter to fake date. So they all descend on her tiny Maine town and she agrees to the plan. Then the paparazzi chase them around and Cassidy works like 2 hours a day at her job and it’s all ludicrous. Of course Actor falls in love with said town and said lady and maybe they partake in sexy times but I wouldn’t know bc the door was slammed in my face and I will never forgive this book for wasting my time. Even the end of the book breakup and subsequent reuniting was puzzling and boring and I think both of these characters are on sedatives.
I’m sorry to say this wasn’t my cup of tea. It had potential but never really found its footing for me. I needed more character and plot development- It was all very surface level. And I needed more thrusting.

Cassidy is content with the life she has built from her business renovating houses and her hometown where she is surrounded by friends and family. Life as she knows it is turned upside down when she creates a social media frenzy when a mistake has everyone believing she is dating an actor. Now she and her town have been infiltrated by Jack and his entourage.
Jack is feeling the wrath of his demanding agent as rather than everyone believing that he is dating a fellow celebrity they believe he is dating Cassidy who could best be described as the girl next door. The only problem is that there is nothing pretend for their feelings for each other and not everyone is happy they are together.
These two were so much fun together and despite their very different lifestyles couldn’t be a better match. Not only do Jack and Cassidy draw you in and have you invested in their relationship, but the secondary characters only make this story that much better.

An entertaining, light read. My favorite part of the story is when our movie star Jack is trying to get Cassidy to relax, and he uses the worst pick-up lines. Can an A-Lister fall for the one who gets tagged by mistake? This is just the beginning of the drama and paparazzi when Hollywood invades Blink, Maine.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Accidentally Famous, Hideaway Harbor #2, continues this cozy, darling romance series. Jack Winston, hollywood heart throb, accidentally tags Cassidy James in Blink, Maine in an Instagram post.
"I'm coming for you babe." tag @bnforever
The simple, modest life she's been living in the small-town is blown-up when paparazzi descend on the town suspecting she's his girlfriend. Jack then shows up with his PR team, and together they scheme a win-win fake relationship. Only problem, he's totally smitten with her, and the town. Jack is charming, funny and not too absorbed in the hollywood lifestyle kinda guy we all adore.
Accidentally famous is a cute, low angst love story. This can be read as a stand alone in the series.
Thank you Entangled Publishing, LLC, for the complimentary copy.
Accidentally Famous is the second book in the Hideaway Harbor series and is such a lovely read. The perfect read for fans of fake relationship to more lovers romance. I loved how the two worlds collided and were immediately drawn into their world, making this one I could not put down. I can't wait to read the next book in the Hideaway Harbor series.
I loved it! I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope and this one was done so well!! Loved the main characters, the relationship, and all the side characters, the small town, all of it! This book (a physical copy) just went on my wishlist!
Jack is a famous actor. Cassidy renovates home in her small town of Blink. When Jack's assistant mistakenly tags Cassidy in an Instagram post, her YouTube channel goes crazy and Jack's PR team decides that they should fake date.
I enjoyed the first book in the Blink series and loved this one too. I found the characters to be engaging and Blink to be so charming. I can't wait for the next book!
Did I hate this book? No. But I can't say I loved it either. It was okay. I'm a fan of romance books, but I admit that I'm one to easily cringe, and this book did not help with that. I did enjoy the small town feel of this book and I'm a fan of big star x small town girl kind of trope, but the conflict felt cliche and predictable. As I said, I didn't hate this book, but it was definitely just okay.
I love this book I really love s all town reads and I can’t wait to read more by this author I really loved the story as well as the cover!
If you’re looking for a good rom-com with out all the smut this is a great read. The story was so good and kept you wanting to read more and more. I feel like the author did a great job of really showing how much a small town will help out their own and be there. Which is something so many don’t have and for Jack it was what he really needed. The cheesy pick up lines and the way Cassidy and Jack’s story truly unfolds was just refreshing to read.
Accidentally Famous is the second book in Marissa Clarke’s Hideaway Harbor Series where the stories are stand alone but characters are often interconnected. These lovely, humorous tales are set in the lovely small coastal town of Blink, Maine—as in blink and you would miss it.
Cassidy James, Ms. Fix-It, had taken on her father’s repair business during his illness and taken it over after his passing. It wouldn’t be long now until her brother Luke graduates college and returns home to share in the business. His ideas for growing the business are big and Cassidy looks forward to his return. Currently, she is restoring the large white McGuffy Victorian that looks out on the Harbor while doing small jobs on the side and working with a network of small builders doing YouTube videos showing how they are correcting problems.
When Cassidy’s instagram account is accidentally tagged by action actor Jack Winston of the Mad Planet action movies with his character’s catch phrase, I’m coming for you, babe!, her account is overwhelmed, she has thousands of new YouTube subscribers, and there is now paparazzi in her life. When the man himself appears at her worksite, the story takes of on an excitingly new kind of adventure.
This is such a fun story! I loved the characters, the small town, and the plot twists. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
This is the first book I have read by Marissa Clarke and I really enjoyed it. How funny a message posted on the wrong instagram account was the catalyst for this story about Cassidy James, who lived in Blink, Maine and Jack Winston, an actor living in LA.
Cassy's world changed after that mix-up as the poparazzi transcended her life in the small town of Blink. All of the characters were interesting and a lot of fun to learn about. I enjoyed the nickname Jack had given his manager. I also thought his pick-up lines he had practiced on Cassidy were funny. All of that added to the fun banter in the book. She did not think that they were funny at all.
This story was romantic, funny, and very entertaining, I look forward to reading more books by this author. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

What a great interpretation of the Hollywood star/average person trope. I really liked Jack and Cassidy, how they are drawn to each other and communicate with each other.
