I was completely engaged in this story. The characters are rich and believable and the story unfolds in such a way that you don't want to stop reading.
If you're looking for a good book to curl up with on a rainy day, look no further! I loved this sweet romance and all that came with it. The characters were written well (Jack & Cassidy 😍) and the book was well-paced! I will definitely be reading more from Marissa Clarke!!
When I started reading, I liked the book from the start! Cassidy has had a crush on Tristan since high school. She is now renovating his dad’s house and just crawled into the crawlspace under the floor, and is totally covered in dust and dirt. The scene is so well written, you just see her sitting there, cringing as he stares at her. What happens next, I won’t spoil, but you can imagine being in that situation where in you mind you had all these scenarios, all thought out, but in reality things play out in the most unflattering way. So a great start from a book where the writer writes realistically and with humor.
Next is the nervous assistant to movie star Jack Winston, and you don’t immediately find out what’s wrong, but something went very wrong, because miles away Cassidy’s YouTube channel just exploded from five followers to over five thousand subscribers and counting. Soon she needs to hide for the paparazzi and when Jack finds out his assistants mistake, you just see him going through the options in this mind, lying awake at night. I really like that Marissa Clarke didn’t immediately came up with a quick fix because that would have made it very unrealistic. I liked that you see the characters behaving like real people with real emotions, insecurities, doubts and considerations as we would have. You already know from the book description that Jack and Cassidy enter in a fake relationship, but the way this story evolves is really beautiful, honest, open and realistic. I loved the natural evolution of their relationship.
Jack is a truly nice guy. He takes care of his assistant Dee; he covers for her when she makes a mistake. He uses jokes to diffuse Cassidy’s anger at sticky situations or to ease her nerves when she’s insecure or feels out of sorts. He wants Cassidy to like him for the man he is, not because he is famous. He cares about the important things in life and an appreciation for the ‘little’ things. He sees the value in an old house like the one Cassidy is renovating, and loves the ugly old cat in the house. I’m not a cat person but the fact that he cares for an old, ugly cat, shows you the kind of man he is. You cannot not like him,
Cassidy is sweet to the bone, but a tough cookie because she works in construction. She’s not a vain girl, doesn’t care much about her looks but captivates Jack’s heart with her heart of gold. I like that she rocks construction and doesn’t care about nail polish and things like that.
The secondary characters are really interesting and nice too, but don’t distract from the main characters:
There is Dee, who comes across as a very young assistant but Jack is happy to have her work for him. She is very dedicated to her job but luckily Jack makes her take the day off, every now and then, and have some fun.
Flex is Jack’s bodyguard and he reminds me of the penguins of Madagaskar; popping up and scanning the area for potential dangers in a little town where nothing ever happens. Very funny!
Roger is a clever elderly man and the owner of the house Cassidy is renovating. He seems up to something.. not hard to guess what: you guess right away.
You soon have a opinion on Jack’s manager Marion, but MC did a great job in creating a realistic character instead of a rushed, two-dimensional fake character.
There are more characters but you will have to read the book to get to know them.
This book is a highly enjoyable feel-good book. It was refreshing that MC invested in these characters and the development of the story instead of rushing things or suddenly write sex scenes like so many writers do. I compliment MC for her approach and thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a lovely story with genuine characters!
I want to thank NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book, and liked reading and reviewing it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book! This book has little to no spice in it so if you have to have spice maybe skip this one. Tropes are; fake dating, small town romance, celebrity/small town girl, slight miscommunication.
This was such a feel good book. We have a strong FMC whose job is a handyman/house restoration. She has the support of her small town behind her.
What I loved about this was our celebrity was not obnoxious in any way, shape, or form. He oozed respectful confidence consistently throughout the entire book. It was refreshing
First of all thank you so so much for accepting the request I sent to read this book. I absolutely ADORED the book and the characters. One thing I have to say, I feel like there are so many characters to keep up with. it can be hard telling who’s saying what and when sometimes.
However Jack and Cassidy have officially taken the spot as my favorite fictional couple, they are SO cute. So adorable, I was rooting for them up until the end and im so happy I was. They are so sweet together its almost sickening. I LOVE THEM.
Another great one from the series. I loved it, it was a really sweet lovely read. Famous actor Jacke is wanting more than just a famous life and when his assistant makes a mistake a fake relationship with Cassidy is born. Fakes become real but will that be enough for Jake to stay in Blink?
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
A very cute story; probably what one would refer to as "chicklit!" It warms your heart to read it. You know where the story is going to end up but the fun is how it gets there. Definitely a beach read.
This was really cute and very sweet. It is technically book 2 in the Hideaway Harbor series, but can be read as a standalone. The book 1 characters are very much involved though so it made me wish I had read the other book first.
I’m the type of person who ignores character descriptions because I can never remember then anyway, so I have no idea if this is accurate, but Jack was giving off major Chris Evans/Captain America vibes. He is written to have had an unsavory past, but was the most kind and genuine guy. I also loved how independent and sure of herself Cassidy was. She is in the remodel/construction business and, as a woman, you can imagine she doesn’t always get taken seriously. We see instances of sexism, but she shuts those right down!
My only issue was that the chemistry was a tad lacking for me. I loved Jack and Cassidy together, but overall I think their relationship could have had some more oomph.
Thank you to Marissa Clarke & Entangled Publishing for providing a NetGalley ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Such a sweet and fun contemporary romance! 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Jack is a mega-famous actor, but he is burnt out and unhappy with his status quo. Cassidy is a small town girl living her dream of restoring old houses. This story is centered around what happens when an inadvertent social media mistag brings these two very different worlds together.
I loved Blink, the small town setting! I grew up in a small town so reading about the community and the way everyone knew everyone’s business felt like coming home myself.
Hot romance but kissing only on page; no s*x scenes. Typically I like a bit more spice in my romance reads, but this one worked for me even without explicit scenes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for an early copy in exchange for my honest review.
Super sweet with some funny tones, this was such an adorable story. My favorite trope is Hollywood stars so I was in book heaven! I love these stories especially when they involve the Hollywood actor with a normal woman, and this was the case.
Cassidy James had always had a crush on Tristan McGuffy but he never noticed her. He went away to study medicine and installed his medical office in Portland. Cassidy kept an image of them, to justify her non-existent social life and be able to just enjoy time with her circle of friends. She lives in a little town called Blink, she loves it and never plans to leave. At the moment she’s restoring an old mansion belonging to Tristan’s father and is loving the work. She makes YouTube videos of her restoration work to share with like-minded friends and suddenly notices that her followers increased exponentially. Then her friends check on her social media and learn that Hollywood A-lister Jack Winston tagged her in a post with a famous phrase from his movie: “I’m coming for you, babe!”
Suddenly she’s besieged with paparazzi and is confounded until Jack Winston arrives suddenly to make amends. They start to share her restoration videos and slowly develop a friendship. Jack was feeling dissatisfied with his life, and staying in such a little town where the natives don’t harass him feels refreshing. His manager wants to use the opportunity to increase his popularity so he and Cassidy join forces and pretend a fake relationship. And the rest is history!
I loved that the love story is clean, as in no sex scenes, just a lot of chemistry, kissing, and liking. You can tell how their liking develops and changes to love. I loved that all the attention is given to their interactions and how Cassidy’s circle of friends and Jack’s employees interact with each other and forge friendships. There’s many levels to this story, especially with Mr. McGuffy, Tristan’s father and owner of Dolores, the house that Cassidy is restoring. Cassidy is lovely, she’s beautiful but has no affectations and feels more comfortable in coveralls and chucks. Jack was a great character and he handled both his manager, his bodyguard and his assistant with grace and a lot of consideration. He was so nice to Cassidy and her friends, no cocky attitude, just sincerity and contrition. But for me, the one who shone was Cassidy in all her emotions and loyalty to what she feels is important. Great read!
This was a great return to Blink, Maine and I loved seeing Cassidy find a love interest. Her and Jack were Accidentally Perfect for each other and I am so excited to see what will happen next with these characters. Roger was back to his shenanigans and he and Marion make a wonderfully unlikely pair. I look forward to seeing them more in the future.

If you enjoy reading small town romances, and fake relationships turned real- this book is for you.
I really enjoyed the characters in this story- I liked the back and forth between the two characters POV. I found this to be a fun romance that had me laughing, smiling, and sad when it ended.
Can an accidental post in Instagram bring together a down to earth working girl and a famous and handsome actor? Quirky and small town, Blink, Maine, is the place for a whirlwind and unexpected romance. But can Jack and Cassidy bear the pressure or will their real life broke them apart? A sweet love story

Tropes:
1) small town romance
2) celeb x regular mc
3) fake-dating
4) forced proximity
This was honestly such a comforting, feel-good read. The whole fake-dating ruse worked for me and the blossoming romance between our main characters was paced nicely. Everything I look for in a romance book, Accidentally Famous checked it off.
So the whole charade begins when Jack's PA accidentally tags Cassidy's (inactive) instagram handle when she meant to tag his sister's account with an inside joke from his movie which is the line "I'm coming for you, babe." Things take a turn for Cassidy when her YouTube subscriber numbers suddenly go up. By the time the post is taken down, the damage has already been done. His fans scour for any information regarding his "affair" with seemingly a regular person and the paparazzi is already in the little town of Blink where Cassidy lives. Jack's manager decides this is the perfect time for Jack to have a PR relationship to repair his previously damaged rep(it took two years for him to recover from a really hard hit his career took) and Cassidy was the perfect candidate for it. After a bit of convincing on her part, Jack and Cassidy hit it off. We can already tell they have really good chemistry and thus lines have started to blur. There is a little fiasco with Cassidy's ex-crush Tristan but nothing too dramatic that deviated from our main characters' story. Althought I'm not a huge fan of the third act conflict/break-up in any romance book, I will make an exception for this book because a third party caused it and it wasn't something distasteful or out-of-character the mcs did. Overall, I enjoyed it, the writing was brilliant, the characters were all likable, and it really stayed true to what a contemporary romance constitutes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Accidentally Famous was such a good read with very likeable leads. I liked Cassidy but I loved Jack even more. A popular handsome actor who is humble, considerate, sensitive and everything else you can ever hope for in a man except for the fact that he can only exist in the movies.
I loved how the story was told in both Cassidy's and Jack's perspectives but there were times when I wished I didn't know what Jack was thinking.
This was a page turner and gave me so many reasons to smile. But what I didn't like was how the resolution lacked luster. I felt like there was something missing. I wanted to get a big lump in my throat but I didn't get that so I was kind of disappointed in the end.
I loved this story. It had me engaged right from the start and I fell in love with Blink. It’s quite an interesting town that I didn’t want to leave. The characters are quirky and I found myself laughing with them and rooting hard. This is such a feel good story that I will defn be recommending to others.
Cassidy James quiet little life in Blink, Maine becomes anything but that when the famous Jack Winston accidentally tags her in one of his social media posts. Her little house rehab videos suddenly start catching a lot of traction, her phone starts ringing, and all of sudden the paparazzi start following her... which is something she is not prepared for in the least. She likes her quiet simple life and one little post has made it nearly impossible for her to walk down the street... she just wants her peace and quiet back! But that becomes darn near impossible once Jack shows up in town!
The pages of Accidentally Famous hold a heartfelt romantic comedy that is certain to have you smiling throughout! Cassidy is use to simple, Jack is anything but, so when he rides into town with a plan for her to become her fake girlfriend for the sake of his image she has her reservations about getting involved. But he promises his plan will fix everything and she can soon return to her quiet life... but the more time they spend with one another, the more she starts to question wanting that life back. Jack is so unexpected and perfect, and once she has a taste of what life with him would be like she doesn't want to let him go when the time comes for him to return to Hollywood. She wants to keep her fake boyfriend!
I loved this one, it's perfectly crafted words, unique story line, and lovable characters made this the perfect afternoon escape! Once my eyes found the words I couldn't pry them away, I had to see if these two could find common ground and find that happily ever after they both deserved... and they so did! Highly recommend this one, it's bound to make you laugh and touch your heart!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley & Mass Market Paperback for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was so cute. Cassidy & Jack were very likable and the "fake dating" trope was done well. Nothing about this was groundbreaking, but it wasn't trying to be. It honestly would make a really cute romcom adaption as a movie. This was a fast read and a perfect book to binge in a day.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This was a cute rom com that I could not put down. I think it would make such a cute movie. It’s a super cute quick read that will bring a smile to your face.
I feel I'm on some celebrity x normal person binge.
Tropes in this book -- mix-up love, somewhat insta-love, small-town romance.
You have Jack Winston whose assistant accidentally tags Cassidy in an instagram post that ends up turning her life upside down. Instead of saying that it was all a misunderstanding his PR team has him fly all the way to her quiet little town with plans of a fake relationship.
There is miscommunication, someone being driven away, and it all comes into this cute small town, celebrity big shot romance.
