I absolutely love Maisey Yates for my contemporary reads. While I am not a big fan of friends to lovers. I took the plunge because Maisey Yates is worth it and it absolutely paid off! I highly recommend this! I will definitely be going and rereading this series!

This is the third book in the series, a friends to lovers story. I did not read the first two books, so am a bit perplexed about the Carson family dynamics. Jace's beloved sister, Sophia, died from cancer when he was 13, and since he was closest to her, her death seems to have affected him more than anyone else in the family. Clearly, he needed counseling, but didn't get it. Shortly there after, when the family moved back to Texas, he meet Cara Summers, a year younger them him, Sophia's age, when he found her crying after she had been mistreated by not only the mean girls at school, but the administration as well. Then and there they became best friend, Jace transferring his protective nature from Sophia to Cara. He became hollow after Sophia died and just followed his father and brothers into the rodeo circuit, winning buckles because he was good at it, but not because it was an ambition. Nearing thirty, he envies his best friend who has dreams of buying the local hotel to expand her business from the bar that she inherited from her grandfather. But she is required to spend the night there, since some other perspective buyers claimed it was haunted. Jace has already decided that he is not returning to the circuit and insists on spending the night with Cara, just like they have gone camping together in the past. But that night both seem to feel a change in their relationship. Will Jace be brave enough to allow himself to love Cara as a woman and not just his buddy? You won't know until the very end.

This is a well written story with likable characters and an easy read. I read an ARC that I received from the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

*Thank you NextGalley and Harlequin for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review*

One Night Rancher is another great addition to the Carsons of Lone Rock series! I love a good friends to lovers romance! I think it works so well with these shorter Desire tiles. The relationship is already established, so the eventual happy ever after feels plausible. (I do think the proposal was a bit quick- but luckily they waited to get married!)

I loved that first night in the haunted hotel! It was such a great setting. I think we could have had a little more happen though. It being the "one night" in the title- I wanted more!

Overall it was a fun, spicy read! 3.5/5 stars!

Another good book from Maisey Yates. The two main characters are Cara and Jace. They have known each other all their lives. Cara runs the bar that her grandfather left her when he died. Jace is a rancher on his family’s ranch. Cara wants to buy a haunted hotel in their town. But she has to spend the night there first. Jace offers to stay with her. That night changes their relationship. There is an attraction between them. They work out their issues and fall in love.

Best friends from school day years
Both have cause for relationship fears.
So a night spent together in a haunted hotel
Shouldn't change things, all being well.

Get ready for butterflies, family and fun,
Secrets, revelations and things to be done.
There's also the start of much more than being friends
But will they still be close when the story ends?

Past losses have impact despite all the years
Losing someone close can add extra fears.
Should you seek others with whom to be
Or be a loner, keeping your heart safe and free?

A moving steamy story, filled with romance
But will this pair make the most of their chances?
A heartwarming read of tearing breaking barriers away
And facing fears to love again some day.

For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

I never read a Carsons of Lone Rock novel before and I think I will try and read the other novels as I thoroughly appreciated this one.
There's a lot of emotion, a lot of self-analysis and discussion. Even if it could seem slow it's a compelling story and I rooted for the characters and hope for their HEA
Cara and Jace are fleshed out and I felt for them.
The plot is tightly knitted and I recommend it.
Many thanks to Harlequin Desire for for this arc, all opinions are mine

One Night Rancher, the third book in Maisey Yates’ Carsons of Lone Rock series, brings friends Cara Thompson and Jace Carson together in new and different ways. Meeting when Cara was 12 and Jace only a little older, they bonded in a special way born of loss. Now almost two decades later they are still best of friends always having the other’s back.

When Cara wants to purchase a boarded up hotel to create a bed and breakfast, the current owner insists she spend the night in it since so many others have reneged when they were told it was haunted. Not wanting to stay there alone, she coerces her best friend Jace to go with her. This one night will change their relationship forever.

This is a very interesting novel with a very different twist. The characters are well drawn and endearing. The plot is well devised. I did enjoy this book and do recommend it.

Jace and Cara had been friends since middle school and even though all the Carson boys were handsome it seemed her and Jayce were only going to be friends. But throw in the whole nut house a kiss that surprised both of them and friends may just turn into lovers. I love the Carson Brothers books and it’s what I cut my modern Romance teeth on recently and I only hope the Carson City fit to adopt some more boys because I could be down with more romance like this and although friends to lovers isn’t my favorite throat this is one of my favorite authors so I think just like Jesse Guzman whatever she writes I would read it! I love this book and highly recommend it if you love modern day romance with respect and sweetness then you’ll love one night rancher… I certainly did! I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher that I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

2.5 stars

It seems all of the stories in this series are shorter than this author’s usual full-length books but longer than a typical novella. In most cases, I love her novellas and her novels. Something about this series is just not connecting with me the way her other stories have through the years.

Cara and Jace do a lot of ruminating. A LOT. The bulk of this story takes place over 3 or 4 days, most of which is spent with them in deep thought. There is dialogue between them, but not very much. And while they are sharing the page through much of this thinking, they are so internally focused it’s almost as if they are not in the same room at all. That leads me to feel like I’m being told they love each other and have feelings for each other instead of being shown these things. It’s a shame since Maisey Yates is usually a master of big emotions with her characters.

The premise of this book is great, but there are holes along the way. The continuity is off; is it Sunday or Thursday or some other day? Was Cara raised by her mom’s dad or her dad’s dad? Little things, but little things that can take you out of the story.

There were so many things that could have been great in this book. Cara’s refusal to back down and to make sure that Jace knew she could see behind his bull, Jace’s surprise at his strong reactions to Cara, and the hope and faith aspect that runs through, are all beautiful things. They just weren’t striking the right chord with how they were being laid out.

I love this author, and I’m not giving up. Not even on this series since I have an extreme FOMO that tells me if I decide to skip a book it’ll be the wonderful tale I keep expecting. This story is sweet and I did find myself wanting to read on to see how things would be resolved, but it fell flat.

Very enjoyable book. As usual, Yates held me captive to her story.

I love the characters. The story was so good I went back to read the other books in this series.

Cara and Jace have been best friends since they were little. She owns a bar and he was on road with Rodeo. Now she is interested in purchasing and renovating the old hotel, which might be haunted. But first, she has to spend the night there. Jace offers to keep her company.

After that night, things start to change between them, there is a whole lot of tension and chemistry between them.

A fast-paced and fun read.

This is a Steamy Friends to Lovers Cowboy Romance, and this is the third book in the Carson of Lone Rock series. I have read and reviewed the other two books in this series before picking up this book, but I do feel you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I loved the two main characters in this book, and I really enjoyed the storyline in this book. I was pulled into this book and did not want to put this book down. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Desire) or author (Maisey Yates) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Jace is determined to never fall in love due to a traumatic loss he endured when he was a teenager. He has been best friends with her since that time so when he finds out she plans to stay in a hotel that is rumored to be haunted he decides to spend the night there with her never expecting that the secret she shared would alter their relationship.

Cara has a difficult past of her own so when Jace was there when she needed someone the most a friendship was forged. The opportunity of purchasing the hotel is a dream come true but before that can she happen she needs to spend the night there. That night would course the change of their relationship but will it bring them closer or tear them apart?

I really enjoyed the chemistry and connection between Jace and Cara as with the help of family they realized that they were destined to be much more than friends.

One Night Rancher by Maisey Yates, book three in her The Carsons of Lone Rock series, is Jace and Cara’s friends-to-lovers story. Jace Carson has forgotten how to love; or rather he couldn’t. Losing his sister Sophia, when he was twelve, was devastating. With that lost he shut down his emotions and heart to any kind of deep relationships or love; so that he could never get hurt again. He loved his family but again kept them at arm’s length, so it doesn't hurt quite so bad when they leave. But Cara was different, she was his best friends and she reminded him of his sister Sophia. So he became Cara's protector as well as her best friend. Did he notice she was beautiful, intelligent and kind, absolutely, but those thoughts were placed in the back of his mind. He also doesn't believe in having a dream in life. Dreams mean you look towards the future, and Jace doesn't know how to do that. He lives in the moment, rides the rodeo, and when he's not out on the circuit, he's helping his friends and family with their businesses. That includes Cara, as she runs her the bar she inherited from her grandfather.

Cara has had feelings for her best friend Jace for a long time; but sadly he treats her more like a sister, as in addition to being her best friend, and Cara wants so much more. She wants Jace as a partner or a lover. Cara inherited her grandfather’s bar, which she loves running and keeping it viable, but she's ready, for a challenge, something else to keep her busy; maybe expand somehow. Then an opportunity comes available, the haunted hotel next door is for sale. Part of the prerequisite to buy the hotel is spending a night there. Cara shares with Jace that she is thinking of purchasing the hotel and how she is required to spend the night; ensuring that she won't back out because of the ghost or haunting aspect. Jace makes the decision to stay with her. One night alone together in an empty hotel, an unexpected confession and a man who's given permission to acknowledge the feelings he's always had for his best friend change their lives. A change that assists them in helping each other heal and giving Jace a chance to dream, hope, and love once again.

Ms. Yates wrote a amazing, intense, emotional and steamy story that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with soul-searching, angst, characters whose personal stories will tug at your heartstrings, sizzling chemistry, and an amazing cast of secondary characters as Jace and Cara find their happily ever after. I highly recommend One Night Rancher to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

What do you do if you’ve been in love with your hunky best friend like forever and you give him a challenge he can’t resist? Well, you do like Cara did, you act on the passion and take advantage of him “helping you.”
I liked Cara. She’s a strong person who knows what she wants and who she wants.
Jace, on the other hand, spends most of the book with his head up his behind. The single cigarette scene was a turn off.
I’m happy for report Jace finally gets his head screwed on straight and Cara gets her wish.
I’m eager to tackle the Buck and Boone stories because Yates keeps dropping teasers!

Cara and Jace have been best friends since Middle School. His brothers always thought it was something more. But not until Cara gets drunk and tells Jace she's a virgin and I ants him to be her first, dies reality sink in. He realizes he's fought his romantic feelings for her and agrees to be her first lover.

Can this friends to lovers story end in a successful relationship? They decide to go into business together but can they also balance the personal relationship and stay best friends. A great addition to the series.

Although I received a free ARC eBook all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cara Thompson is Jace Carson's best friend since junior high. Jace has been feeling a little unsettled lately and not sure if he is returning to the rodeo. Cara runs the bar in town that her grandfather left to her. Cara wants to buy the old hotel and town and fix it. Cara and Jace team up together to fix the bar up. Cara has to spend one night in the hotel to be able to purchase the property and Jace stays with her. After getting a little tipsy Cara spells her secrets to Jace. After spending the night together Jace decides he wants to marry Cara and stay in town. Cara is really in love with Jace; but he doesn't seem to be able to love anyone.

Cara wants to buy a historical hotel with a reputation for being haunted. The owner insists that she spend the night there before he'll accept her offer, because too many prospective buyers have backed out. She enlists her best friend Jace to stay with her. The problem? There's only one bed, and she's secretly in love with him. Will one night together ruin their friendship?

This is a mashup of friends-to-lovers and OTT insta-love. It's super-steamy with likeable characters.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Maisey Yates is the Queen of Angst!

In this charming best friends romance, Jace and Cara have a lot of emotional hurdles to conquer before they can settle in to their HEA. No one does angst like Maisey Yates, and this book is one of her best.

Cara wants to buy the dilapidated local hotel and renovate it to fulfill the dream she shared with her late grandfather. When Jace finds out she must spend the night in the hotel, ghosts and all, before her offer can be accepted, he volunteers to keep her company - and this one night is all it takes to reframe their friendship. The problem isn't that Jace has always seen Cara as a little sister, it's that he's seen her as a substitute for the sister who died of cancer. Like I said, lots of angst to wade through.

I enjoyed the unbridled affection these two shared once they dispensed with the "just friends" label, and I adored the camaraderie Jace shares with the wild bunch of brothers who are quick to call him on every one of his lies to himself. I really loved how the author used the white butterfly motif throughout the story to help them each heal from their losses and find their way deep into each other's hearts.

If you've read any of the Carsons series, you don't want to miss this one. Each is a standalone romance featuring another of the brothers, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
