This book wasn’t really what I was expecting. It says it is for readers of any spirituality and I am not Wiccan but am very interested in herbs, self care and kitchen witchery. At its core it is a vegan cookbook with some things like visualization worked in. As an example, there’s a chocolate mousse made of vegan chocolate chips, aquafaba (the liquid in canned chickpeas) and apple cider vinegar. It has a catchy name and something about how it will help relationships or something. There is information about the supposed magical powers of herbs, crystals, etc but I was hoping for more health based information on the herbs and more of what I consider kitchen witchery like making your own hawthorn tincture for the heart (historically used to help the heart and scientifically proven to be helpful but also traditionally used for heartbreak and sadness). This will be a good fit for a young vegan who is new to Wicca and self care.
I read a digital copy of this book for review.
As a fan of books that empower us to take charge of our bodies and promote healing, diving into "The Kitchen Witch's Guide to Healing and Self-Care" was an enriching experience. Maggie Haseman invites readers into a world where the kitchen becomes a sacred space for nurturing both body and soul.
One of the standout features of this book is its accessibility. Haseman's writing style is welcoming and easy to understand, making complex concepts about holistic healing approachable for readers of all backgrounds. Each chapter is like a journey through the pantry, exploring the healing properties of various herbs, spices, and ingredients commonly found in our kitchens.
What sets this book apart is its emphasis on the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Haseman beautifully weaves together practical advice on nutrition and self-care with insights into the importance of mindfulness and intentionality in our daily lives. Through simple rituals and recipes, she demonstrates how we can harness the power of our own intuition and the natural world to promote healing from within.
I appreciated the holistic approach taken in "The Kitchen Witch's Guide." It goes beyond just physical health to address the importance of emotional well-being and spiritual nourishment. Whether you're looking to alleviate specific ailments or simply cultivate a greater sense of balance and vitality, this book offers a treasure trove of wisdom and practical tips to support your journey toward holistic wellness.
Overall, "The Kitchen Witch's Guide to Healing and Self-Care" is a delightful blend of kitchen wisdom, herbal lore, and self-care practices. It's a book that not only teaches us how to nourish our bodies with wholesome foods but also reminds us of the magic that resides within each of us to heal and thrive. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to deepen their connection to themselves and the healing power of nature.
Thank you to Netgalley the Publishers, Callisto Media | Rockridge Press and the author Maggie Haseman for allowing me to review this book. Which, I will be giving my honest and sincere review.

Authentic Knowledgeable Author, I truly enjoyed reading through getting to know the author, and her recipes. Her style of unique magic she teaches to cultivate in your own kitchen.
If you align with this belief system I highly recommend this book to any Kitchen Witch, Naturalist out there.
Mostly a book for myself rather then my library. Maybe one day people here will be accepting of witches. I still enjoyed the book and the recipes/spells were easy to follow. Will be a book I keep coming back to.
Great resource! Always looking for ways to be healthy in a more natural way. Kitchen witchery is the best, most nurturing way to accomplish that! Will refer back to this again and again I am certain!
A fantastic 101 book for the aspiring witch or those interested in natural healing and alternative methods. It covers the basics of magical practice and kitchen witchery - definitely not meant for practiced hands. Its definitely a reference resource and not a book that is meant to sit and read from cover to cover.
The best part of the book is the self care recipes and was happy to recommend it to friends who are vegan because of the options.
This book was very creative and intriguing and leaves you with a lot to think about! The recipes were a fun touch as well. I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely read more from this author.
This was a very interesting read that is outside of my comfort zone.
It didn't feel very kitchen oriented but perhaps that is based on a lack of understanding on my part.
I really liked reading this. It's super helpfull, very well explained, interestinga nd insightful.
A teal hood edition in your lecture about healung and self-care. I really liked how alot of things are easy and quick enough todo yourself.
Thank you Netgalley and publishers for this book.
This dives deep into the healing properties of herbs and cooking with intention, something we should all pay closer attention to. It was just a dense book, packed full of history, and recipes and information and it will take MANY passes through to fully absorb all of it, or even most of it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I had to request this title as I am currently in a phase where I am trying to heal my body from everything I have done to it and practice a little more self care... I don't think it was quite what I was expecting but it did have a lot of info and many recipes for self care...It might be one I have to actually hold in my hands and see the pictures or be able to earmark pages...it didn't quite work out for me as a digital copy.
I enjoyed the mindful exploration into the properties of herbs, tea leaves, vegetables, and grains, Each ingredient serves a purpose. Mindfulness is woven throughout making you feel that Haseman really cares about you.
I loved this book much more than I thought I would! It has fantastic recipes and great information. I really felt that this book promotes self-care and acknowledges how to prioritize yourself.
Finally a witch's guide to self care. There's so much wonderful information in this well written book. I especially loved the tea recipe in each section of the book. There is also an abundance of delicious recipes to enjoy. I'm definitely adding this book to my personal library.
I absolutely loved this book! I love all things magic. Definitely will be buying this when it comes out
This book is a great guide on the basics of being a kitchen witch.
It provides a comprehensive guide to healing and self care, and guidelines on all the essentials of spell casting: ingredients, crystals, phases of the moon etc.
It also contains spells, remedies and rituals, for self-care of the mind body and spirit. I'm particularly keen to try the Cinnamon Sugar Cookies for abundance and prosperity.
We all need to think about our relationship with food and what we're putting in our bodies. Making and eating food with intention I think is just another step in that journey that we can take.
A good introductory book, ideal for anyone interested in being a little bit witchy or just learning some more self-care techniques. It isn't an overwhelming book by any means, and the kitchen witch approach seems like an easy on-ramp for anyone interested in imbuing a bit of magick into their lives.
I really enjoyed this book. There is a ton of info in it (definitely calls for a few read-throughs) but this is definitely a book I wish I had when starting my kitchen witch journey.
I didn't know how much I needed this book. I love witchy self care but I'm not at my strongest in the kitchen, but this book was well written and helped even kitchen chaotics like me bring their self care into this realm of their lives. Also, some of these recipes that are included at the end sound fantastic and I can't wait to try them.
This is a great book full of healing recipes and ideas. I think the title is misleading somewhat in that it implies its witchcraft but I agree with the premise that connecting to oneself is missing in today's technological word. The body holds the wisdom!
