I saw a meme recently that poked fun at the fact that there is an entire subgenre of horror just dedicated to houses who hate their inhabitants. Well, this isn’t horror, it's a romantasy, so it’s more like what if the house was a busybody who read one too many fairy tales. This book is just filled to the brim with shenanigans, ones I didn’t know I needed but happily consumed regardless. The methods Rogerson comes up with for the house to come alive and to express its feelings were both comical and otherworldly. The whole thing reads like a paranormal fairy tale complete with Elizabeth’s optimism, Nathaniel’s snark and Sila’s tough but softie heart.

This book is written entirely for those who finished Elizabeth and Nathaniel’s story wanting more. Let me assure you though this book was not written for the sake of doing so or for servicing fan wants. It really felt like there was a purpose to it all and it tied up a few last strings that were forgotten in the main novel.

At this point, Margaret Rogerson is an auto-buy author for me. She creates such fun plots with characters I instantly fall hard for so I look forward to devouring what she releases next!

My sincere appreciation to Simon & Schuster Canada for providing an advanced reading copy through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

was really fortunate to receive a ARC by Netgalley and St. Martins Press in exchange for a honest review. I really enjoyed this!! This was my most anticipated read!!

Sorcery of thorns is my favorite book of all time! So I was insanely excited when I heard about a novella!! This was exactly what I was hoping for! Silas, Nathaniel and Elisabeth shenanigans! I adored this!!! My favourite quote was “ Not every story has a happy ending. But most do if your brave enough to keep reading to the end.”

Well I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! There was a gap between the first book and this book, making me think this one wasn't originally planned, but I'm so glad that we got it! I love this world and these characters, and it was fantastic to spend this time with them again!

This is a little self-contained story, mostly. We have Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Silas and Mercy are all stuck in Thorn Manor, because the protections are acting up. And oh, it was a really enjoyable story! Of finding out what caused it-and how to solve it, was just great!

That the house wants a commitment between Nicholas and Elizabeth, I just found that just a bit funny. And the choices that they made for how they were going to go about that, yeah, I couldn't put it down! I just love these two!

There was one minor mention, and one major mention, right at the end, about Silas. Which is why this is mostly self-contained, because I could easily see another novella or full length book dealing with that, which I'd happily read!

Loved reading this book, and if we get more, I'll definitely be reading it!

So, surprising no one because my brain is a sieve, I didn't remember much about SORCERY OF THORNS except that a) I really liked it, b) it's the only Rogerson I've rated a four (which I suppose is related to the first point), and c) Silas. I mean, part of what I liked was the banter and vibes, the leads were very good, but I mean I don't think anyone left that first book without thinking very fondly of a certain demon.

Naturally when I had the chance to possibly snatch up an early copy of this surprise reveal novella, I was pretty stoked. Even moreso to receive. And I waited, oh, an entire day before diving in. And what a treat. What a delight! Why did I rush into this but also I'm glad I didn't have this gem waiting nearby unread because it was great. Perhaps has even inspired a reread..

Regardless, there isn't a whole lot I can spoil if you haven't yet read SORCERY OF THORNS (so go do that now) but suffice it to say : fans? You will be pleased. Satisfied. Delighted! There were juicy little bits, lovely little bits, funny little bits, and combination resulted in a very delicious whole. Saying that out loud sounds wrong but I think you get what I mean.

Highly recommend!

Finally, a follow up to Sorcery of Thorns! It was fun to see this world again. So happy to see Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas again. They get to solve another mystery and navigating their romance at the same time. A fun, whimisical, romantic story.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I am so so so happy that Sorcery of Thorns got a novella! Authors take note.... THIS is what the people want: fluff stories in our favourite worlds, with gorgeous writing, and heartwarming love. This world is truly the whimsy and fun that I needed. I don't think it will ever be possible for me to get enough of these characters and their world. Just loved it, made my heart feel so warm and happy. Honourable mention for Silas still being my all-time favourite supporting character.

Thank you Simon and Schuster Canada for this ARC!

After an adventure of a lifetime, prepare for one more as we return to Elisabeth and Nathaniel's world and the mysteries surrounding Thorn manor!
I'm thrilled to be back in this world; that was my top read last year (my review was hella late, but we won't talk about that), and I love the continued exploration of magic in the world and the rooted magic in Nathaniel's family manor. This world has so much to offer that it genuinely could give us hundreds of short stories or sequels, and I would eat them up!

This adventure was comical; the house wanted him to declare his intentions. I CACKLED! But it still held sweetness with character interactions.
I am thrilled to see the romance between my darling bloom and to see my love, Silas!
