When Grace comes home to catch her husband in the act of cheating, she does what any rational being would do, she locks them into the small cabin at the end of the garden. Dominic had wanted that cabin, practically begged for it, claiming it would be a great space for him to work and unwind, never in his wildest dreams could he imagine being locked in, naked, and with a woman that was not his wife. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Grace may have more experience in this sort of thing than her husband ever knew.
This was a fun thriller overall, and being able to experience the story from both Grace and Dominic’s points of view made it go by much quicker. I wasn’t absolutely shocked by the end, but I did appreciate it for what it was. The narrator kept me engaged, and the pacing was well done.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen and review this title.

I loved how this audiobook had two narrators for both POVs. I loved listening to this fast-paced, deliciously dark and suspenseful story! Grace was a fun character and enjoyed on how she was going to get her revenge on Dominic. Really enjoyed this new-to-me author! Add this to your TBR NOW!
When Grace comes home to find her husband with another woman, she locks them up in the cabin in their garden. And unfortunately, it's not the first time she did something like this...
I listened to this as an audio book, and the narration (with multiple narrators, making it easier to follow) was great. This fast paced psychological thriller is full of twists and turns, unlikeable and unreliable characters, multiple POVs was really good! It was a bit predictable, but I was there for the ride! Daniel hurst is fast becoming one of my favorite thriller authors!
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I’ve never given much thought about how I might react if my husband were to cheat on me, but I have to admit, I don’t think I’d take the route Grace took. The story jumps between Grace and her husband Dominic’s perspectives and jumps around in time a bit but on the whole it’s still pretty easy to follow. I definitely didn’t love the story. I didn’t find anything overly brilliant about it but I wasn’t able to immediately guess how it was going to end so that’s something I guess. It was short and roses the point and a good read if you’re trapped on a flight for a couple hours and this book happened to be for sale at the airport or if it was on deal with audible 🤷♀️
ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story and it’s complex yet damaged characters! It was well written with great plot development and I liked how the author would reveal bits and pieces about Dominic and Grace’s pasts as the story unraveled. There were some twists that I didn’t see coming and I love not being able to predict exactly how the story is going to end from the first chapter. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers and unreliable narrators!
“You men are all the same.”
Thank you Daniel Hurst, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest opinion!
They’ll do anything to get out. She’ll do anything to keep them in. When happily married Grace comes home early one night and catches her husband, Dominic, with another woman in the cabin at the bottom of their garden, she is shocked, angry, and most of all, hell-bent on revenge. That’s why she acts quickly, locking the pair in the cabin while she decides what she wants to do to them.
While I enjoyed the narration of this book, I did find the storyline to be pretty predictable. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, am I right? How do you build this cabin to be a fortress, but not put a spare key inside to have a way to get out it you ever get locked in? The narration was great and the book was okay. I just couldn’t get into it, because of the characters’ predictabilities. I rounded this book up to 3 ⭐️’s.

Wow! If you want a super crazy domestic thriller with so many twists and turns at the end that you’ll have whiplash, this is your book. Grace comes home one night to discover her husband is having an affair. On impulse, she locks them into the cabin together. Is she going to let them out? How is this going to play out? If you think you know what’s going to happen, think again!
Kudos to the narrators as well!
*Thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for this advance listener copy.
Grace comes home early from a work event to discover clothes shed throughout the house, including ladies underwear. When she goes into the garden Hitoshi her husband, Dominic’s prized garden cabin, she catches him in a very uncompromising position with Camilla, a 20 something work colleague. In her rage, Grace locks them in the cottage and leaves them, naked. Later, Dominic can hear Grace screaming and trashing the house and discarding his possessions. Unbeknown to Dominic, Grace has previous form on locking adulterers away in sheds and flashes back to when Grace was 10 and catches her dad in a similar position.
A really intriguing storyline and the flash backs provided such insight to Grace’s current state of mind. An amazing book and highly recommended.
I don’t want to say too much about this because I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that there is a couple in a cabin that desperately want to leave, and someone has trapped them there.
This I was such a fun, quick, thrilling listen that is definitely different from your run-of-the-mill thriller.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my complimentary copy!
Grace and Dominic, married for numerous years, have fallen into that comfortable, but sometimes boring, lifestyle that affects many couples. Grace comes home one night, rather than staying in the hotel after her meeting, and finds Dominic in that damn cabin of his in the lower back yard and he's not alone. Like any woman in shock, she decides on a surprising revengeful act; she locks them in the cabin with no way out while she thinks about what to do with them.
Hurst's thriller takes us on one heck of a ride as we watch Grace do as any level headed woman would do, right? She tosses all of his (and his mistress's) clothes in a pile in the backyard and burns them. She turns off the electricity leaving them with no lighting or heat, not to mention no toilet facilities. I know some of you ladies are snickering because you may know of someone that deserves the same treatment. I personally wouldn't go as far as Grace did but locking him up in his man-cave alone with no electricity for a day might seem reasonable, lol.
The book goes a little deeper than just a cheating husband and you'll want to grab a copy when it's released on November 1st to learn about Grace's dark past. You will not believe what you read! Great ride this one was!
This thrilling audiobook was fantastic and I listened to it right through the night finishing it in less than 24 hours. Narration by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates was great allowing for enhanced enjoyment of the torture experienced by Dominic.
My thanks to #NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this Arc. This opinion is my own.
What would you do if you found your spouse cheating? I’m sure that many things run through our minds would we be rational? Would we be dramatic? This book definitely took me down that road of questioning how I would behave. I thoroughly enjoyed this book running down the road of What Ifs. This is an incredibly peculiar tale of what someone would do in that particular position. I was enthralled by the characters and intrigued by how the tale would be told. It was a tough book to put down. I really enjoyed the narrator as they explained and described in great detail the thought process. Which also sent my mind reeling. I really enjoyed this book. What a great story.
Love this author and read all his books. This was a locked room thriller (cabin in this case). Loved the creepy setting and storyline and can’t wait to see what Daniel brings out next. What a fantastic book! I was gripped since the first page and could not stop listening. The best book I've read in a long while, could not recommend this one highly enough.

Sipping thoughts: Wow can you say crazy?! This was a very quick and cheeky read. I loved reading from the perspective of the crazy, scorned wife Grace and then the sleazy, weak husband, Dominic. I did not expect the mystery and twist that unraveled in this book but enjoyed it thoroughly. If you are looking for a quick, semi-humorous domestic suspense this is the one!
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @BookoutureAudio for an advanced copy of @TheCoupleInTheCabin.

Grace comes home early from a business dinner and catches her husband, Dominic, nude and in a compromising position with his mistress Camille in his cabin office in their garden. Without them noticing her, Grace immediately locks the door to the cabin. Grace’s anger propels her to keep them locked in as long as she can, while dealing with the demons of her past.
The Couple in the Cabin gripped me from the beginning and held my interest until near the end. Full of twists and shocks, I enjoyed listening to Grace and Dominic’s story. Without giving a spoiler, the ending just didn’t feel realistic and fell short for me, so I can’t give it five stars.
Grace is the epitome of a woman scorned in this mystery/thriller. After discovering her husband Dominic having an affair, she locks him and his lover in his “man cave” cabin. We soon find out that this isn’t the first time Grace has locked cheaters in a cabin. The twists were pretty predictable to me and I found a lot of the details odd and unlikely. However, this is a very quick read (or listen) and was a perfect palate cleanser after the emotional roller coasters I’ve been reading lately.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me an ARC of the audiobook The Couple in the Cabin for review ahead of publication.
This one...I finished it over a week ago and have had to let it sit to put my thoughts together. Did I enjoy it, not really. Did I finish it, yes. Would I recommend it, probably not. Was it well thought out, eh, maybe, maybe not. Grace comes home early and discovers her husband naked with another woman in his man-shed where he works during the day. First, why did they run out there without any clothes or robe or a throw, it was cold outside. Daniel, her husband, has built this fortress for remote working and does not even leave his laptop out there at night nor a phone so when Grace finds them and locks them inside they cannot call for help. They have no heat and she cuts the power. Grace then gathers the woman's clothes and her husband's belongings and starts a bonfire in the backyard. All this time we are getting the backstory to her childhood. Can you say mental illness. There are a lot of factors in this twisted tale, the woman, the man who brought Grace home that evening, Grace's mother who is an alcoholic, and Daniel who is duped in all of this. Twisted tale indeed. Take this one on if you want.
I really wanted to like this book but it was so dull. Nobody in the book was a compelling or sympathetic character. I found I didn't particularly care what happened to the couple in the cabin or to the wronged wife. Should the husband have cheated? Of course not. But this woman was kind of off her rocker. Interesting premise but the execution fell through for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
Happy Pub Day 🥳 The Couple In The Cabin by Daniel Hurst is a disturbing psychological thriller that explores the question about who is the real villain during an extramarital affair. There were several shocking twists and it was so fast paced that it was hard to put down!

Grace comes home early from a work event and finds out that her husband is having an affair. She ends of locking the two lovers in a cabin in the back of their house. The story goes back and forth from the current time and back through Grace's life.
Enjoyable narration by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates.
This was a great quick listen. What would you do if you came home to find your husband with his mistress? With dual narrators, Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates, this unfolds in the past and present with Grace and Dominic. Once I started I had trouble stopping. I kept trying to find more things to clean so I could keep listening.
As with all the books I’ve read by the author, they are shorter than your average book, twisty and will push the boundaries for an ending. And entertaining. Do I think this could happen in real life, well, no, but do I care? Also no. I was gripped from the start and enjoyed every minute of it.
