Lilly’s dream, is to open up her own bakery shop. She sees her dream a possible reality by way of entering The Great Christmas Cookie Bake-off contest. She bakes in her own kitchen, is very meticulous, and has her recipes all written down with several scenarios.
Pete is a pastry chef at a restaurant, sees himself winning the contest to better his career, in other words, getting a chef’s position at a high end restaurant. He usually bakes without a real plan, by the seat of his pants.
They don’t meet in the best of circumstances. When they are paired together, neither of them is really happy about it, since they can’t agree on anything, but work together they must.
Feelings start to come into play as each round comes and goes and they are still standing. The ending is quite a surprise!
Such a cute holiday read. I thought this was so sweet and fun. Not angsty. I really liked that about the book. There wasn’t any drama from other characters or third parties, so I really liked that. I really liked both of the main characters. They were pleasant and wholesome characters. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Kimberly Kincaid's "Sugar and Spice" is a delightful contemporary romance that serves up a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The story revolves around two characters, each with their own emotional baggage, who find themselves drawn to one another against all odds. Kincaid's writing style is engaging and laced with heartwarming moments, making it easy to get lost in the story. With its endearing characters and heartfelt romance, "Sugar and Spice" is a feel-good read that will leave readers with a smile.
Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of #SugarAndSpice. This book was a fun novella that starts off a series. I loved the two main characters in this book. They each had their own flaws but Lily and Pete together were fun to read. Also, the descriptions of cookies were fantastic and put me in the holiday mood! Overall, a 4 star read for a fun novella!
This book bursts from the first page like a horse at the gate and never stops running. It’s a wild ride.
A page-turner from a stunning writer. I adored it beyond words I adored this beautiful, warm novel ... it's so full of heart you can almost hear it pulsing on every page.
This is definitely a quick, sweet, but steamy read! I also enjoy this author's books and this one was no exception! My only drawback? I wish it had been longer! This is definitely a story of opposites attract! Lilly likes everything planned out while Pete likes to do everything on the fly. But somehow, these two work in ways I wasn't expecting! Throw in a competition that could make them both a lot of money, and it all just pulls together and works! I definitely enjoyed it, I just wish it had been longer.
A delightful Christmas story full of yummy deliciousness. What says Christmas better than holiday goodies? A baking competition provides the perfect setting for two baking masterminds. Both have a dream of winning for different reasons but only one can be the winner. How can a competition change things between two people who have lived in the same small town for five years? You will have to read this short but perfect holiday novella to find out how.
I am not usually a fan of novellas because I love to be immersed in a story for a long time , with that said I loved this novella . The story has a cookie competition were the main characters face off to win. Lily and Pete start to heat up the competition . Who will win? The home baker or the one ready to advance their career, both have very good reasons for entering. May the best chef win.
One thing that I do love in a novella is that there isn’t drawn out sabotaging. I can appreciate that. It’s a feel good steamy book! Loved it can’t wait to dig into the rest of the series
Pete and Lily are as opposite as opposite can get. Lily's dream is to own her own bakery, but for the time being she has to operate her business out of her home.. Lily is a person that goes by the rules.
Pete is someone that plays it with a wild card. He works for one of the well known restaurants in town. There is a contest being held that is a grand prize of $10,000. Both Pete and Lily get to know each other, and not the person that is known to the public.. It is a sweet story, and will definetly read the rest of the series..
FOr me it was a sweet romance book... Just a bit of heat.... But an OK book overall... I liked that it gave an excerpt to the next book...
Sweet and spicy! Definitely just the book I needed to help me through a end of year reading slump I'd fallen into! This actually became a new favorite of mine and might just be a yearly re-read on my list! Loved how much of a charmer Pete was and was able to have Lily be the total opposite, and have them bring out the best in one another. The read was so fast, I almost forgot it was a book until it came to an end.
I cannot wait to grab another Kimberly Kincaid read!
Pete have an aim to be a Pastry Chef @ L’Orangerie and he will do what it take to get the position. In order to bring him closer to his ambition, he need to win the cookie competition. Lily on the other hand, want to own a bakery shop as baking at home is getting harder for her and when she hears about the cookie competition, she knew winning would make pave the way for her.
They started as fierce competitors but it doesn’t take too long for the sparks to fly. Both of them are thrown together during the competition a number of times as team mates, Lily started to get to know the real Pete and she likes what she see very much.
Overall, it is a quick to read love romance definitely full of sugar and spice.

A Christmas book that really was a good story and the Christmas theme seemed at least to be a backstory. Lilly Callahan is a home baker and people come to her for her cookies and cakes, her dream is to open her own bakery one day. She does though enter into a contest at the lodge for baking contest with the winner being awarded $10,000 she is hoping to win.
Pete Mancusco is a chief at the lodge and is a bit of a wild card not liking to follow recipes or rules. He also enters the cookie contest wanting to win to leave the mountain and go back to Philadelphia. You guessed it the two of them are partnered up at the competition and the banter between them helps the story move along. The story is good and I do like the cooking, and baking show contest this was a very good story and had a good ending. It is worth the read.
I loved this short and sweet little fluffy romance - plus it centered around baking, and I am a sucker for some baked goods. The descriptions and characters made this story flow well, and in the end, though predictable, I really enjoyed the story. 3.5 rounded up.
The banter between these two characters is so wonderful and it’s fun to se them get closer as the contest progresses.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I was not sure how I would like this story as Pete and Lily were so different and just didn't seem to click at first but as the story progresses, you learn more about each of them and how well they can get along!
It was fun to see their attempts at creating the best cookie for each portion of the contest and loved how Lily would bear her soul. And finally, Pete got there, also!
Cute novella for the Christmas season!
Sugar and spice is a cute novella, featuring two bakers competing against each other. I love how the competition turned out and how they found their feelings for each other.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Short and sweet...no angst. Paul and Lilly are competing in a competition. Who wins??
This book is in 3rd person which Is not a favorite of mine on top of being so descriptive that I forget what the plot is. I could not even finish it, sadly.
Kincaid is always a fun autobuy for me. Rom-com at its best. A magical setting, flawed characters finding each other and falling in love. Makes you want to immerse yourself for hours in the novel. A fun must read.
