The Sheikh's Christmas Baby by Leslie North is a fun, predictable, and emotion-packed second-chance romance. This book serves as the third installment in the Al-Harim series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series in order. Doing so will offer readers a better understanding of overlapping events and backstory, leading to a more enjoyable read overall.
Kashif's character is relatable as he experiences doubts about his capability to wear the crown of Sheikh of Al-Harmid. He seeks adventure to distract himself from his family responsibilities, which ultimately leads to his encounter with Kristy. The two fall in love instantly, but their mixed backgrounds create a significant obstacle to their relationship.
I found myself enjoying the chemistry between Kashif and Kristy, and their commitment to their respective families adds a layer of complexity to the story. Kristy's concerns that Kashif's wealth and power would eventually lead to him taking away her daughter was a believable and relatable concern. Kashif's ham-fisted attempts at helping Kristy save her farm added just the right amount of tension and drama.
The plot of the story is predictable, but readers can easily overlook this fact and enjoy the well-crafted love story. That being said, I felt that the book was unfinished because some notable questions were not fully explored or addressed. For example, Kashif's father mentions early on in the series that they need to talk before the new year, but that story thread was never fully addressed. Additionally, Kashif's age was never stated explicitly, and this lack of clarity likely left many readers wondering.
Overall, I found The Sheikh's Christmas Baby to be enjoyable and engaging. While the plot was predictable, I was still drawn to the well-crafted love story. The emotional depth of the characters, particularly Kashif's insecurities, made the read even more engaging. If you are a lover of second-chance romances, Christmas stories and Sheikh romances, then you will find this an enjoyable read. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Kristy and Kashif. Kristy runs her family ranch. Kashif is a sheikh. They meet four years ago in Alaska. Kashif wanted to train running a sled. There is a mutual attraction. He has to leave because his father is ill. He tries to reach Kristy but he can reach her. Kristy tries to let Kashif know she is pregnant but can’t talk to him. Four years later he comes back and wins Kristy over.
Wow great work! Kashif Shadid has always craved adventure. With one last chance to win the Iditarod race before assuming his duties as Sheikh, he’s returned to the Alaskan wilderness to train at a legendary sled dog farm. But that means coming face to face with Kristy Cohen, the woman who captured his heart years ago. He’s still enchanted by her icy beauty, but her farm is facing financial ruin.
Kristy works hard to keep her sled dog farm afloat, while raising her young daughter. Faced with declining revenues and a changing climate, it’s a constant struggle, but she refuses to give up. When Kashif shows up out of the blue and pushes her to make changes, her response is as cold as the Alaskan snow. She fell for tall, handsome Kashif once before. She won’t be making that mistake again. Despite the secret child she never told him about…
Kristy’s guarding more than just her heart. With her farm and her child’s happiness to consider, can she risk taking a chance on Kashif again?
Kristy owns a farm that trains dogs for the Iditarod. Sheikh Kashif comes to train with the dogs to compete in the race. They fall for each other. Sharif gets called home. His bodyguard tells Kristy that he has flings and leaves. She is devastated. She finds out that she is pregnant. She tries the contact Kashif but is turned away. Three years later he comes back to try for the Iditarod. He is under the impression that she broke up with him. She doesn’t want him to find out about their daughter. He finds out and is furious with Kristy.
The heroine is strong and thinks she’s the only one who can run the farm. The hero is going to become the crowned sheikh of his country. Love will win out. The story was wonderful and a great end to the series.
The final book in the series about three brothers. An interesting backdrop for the storyline - an Alaskan dog sledding farm, Mistywoods farm. Sheik kashif Shadid first met Kristy 4 years ago. She was innocent but soon fell into a relationship with Kashif. He left suddenly and after harsh words from his bodyguard she did not contact him when she discovered she was pregnant with their daughter Arella.
Kashif is now back at the farm to find out what went wrong and train for a dog sledding race. Kristy has her own problems as her business is going under due to new competition. She does not appreciate his interference in her business and does not tell him arella is his daughter straight away. There is still chemistry between the pair but will they get their forever family? An enjoyable read. Different type of setting with lovely descriptions of the area.
This was an okay read, but a few things bugged me. The heroine was / is really young but in the early part of the book she is written to be beyond naïve. Then the hero comes back and they're back in each other's beds in short order even though she protests a little.
The other major thing that bothered me is the seemingly constant comments about global warming. I read romance as an escape to enjoy a story and not worry about the world's problems. Global warming is a frequent topic in this book and it made the story less enjoyable in my opinion.
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My favorite of the series. Solid holiday trio of romance novels. Likable characters and engaging plot. Dialogue was well done. Kept me reading through all of the books!
another hit from Leslie north. the third book in this series and was as perfect as the previous two. a short sweet read full of angst,
This was the last book in the trilogy. The oldest brother, Kashif, fell in love with a dog sled trainer in Alaska while he was training. Four years later, he is now back to see her again and to figure out what happened between them, after he had a family emergency and had to leave unexpectedly. Kristy was left with a broken heart and the most precious gift of all, a sweet little girl. She is determined to keep Kashif away from is daughter before he figures out that he has a child. Little did Kashif know, that there were many secrets and people who involved themselves so many years ago. He will never be able to get those years back, but will he be able to have the rest of his life to make up for it?
Leslie North always delivers romance and angst. She knows what her readers want to read and it always serves.
Very predictable but very lovely tale of the Sheik coming back to find his lost love. Some great scenes with puppies and Kristy’s little girl and the Alaskan wilderness. A great epilogue giving reams of next steps which I appreciated
Lesli North never disappoints. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I couldn’t put it down. Love Kashif and Kristy’s character and Arella too. And what a beautiful ending!!
Loved reading the engaging and engrossing third book in the series by the phenomenal author, Leslie North. Sheikh Kashif Shadid has to suddenly leave, and his servant relays a message to Kristy that he was only using her and was no one special. Kristy ends up pregnant and tries to contact Kashid without any success. When Kashid shows up years later, Kristy wants nothing to do with him and wants to protect her three year old daughter, Arella. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read love story.
This book was such a fun, quick and cozy book to read. It was the third book in the series but It can definitely be read as a standalone. I love the Christmas theme too!
Four years ago Kristy met Kashif Shadid at her Alaskan Farm and thought they were in love until he lives abruptly with only a harsh word from his bodyguard but that wasn’t the only thing he left behind. Kristy finding out she is pregnant tries contacting the Sheikh but all attempts are for nothing.
Fast forward four years and his back to try and find out what went wrong!
I thought this was a beautiful and well written story and I really enjoyed it. My only fault would be that we didn’t really find out why the bodyguard tried so hard to stop Kristy from contacting the Sheikh or his motivation.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Publisher for an eARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
Sheikh Kashif has one adventure left to do before he takes his place as Sheikh. Kashif wants to win the Iditarod Dog Sledding race. Kristy now runs Mistywood Farms and she is a single mom to her 4-year-old daughter Arella. Kristy and Kashif met years ago and he and Kristy were romantically involved. Kashif is now back at Mistywood Farms for training at winning the Iditarod race. Kashif finds out that Kristy has a 4-year-old daughter and wondering who is her father. Kristy’s business is struggling and needs help but yet Kristy is doing her best to keep her business.
How will Kashif feel when he finds out Arella is his daughter, will Kashif help Kristy with Mistywood Farms, will Kashif win the dog sled race before taking his place as Sheikh, is there an HEA in store for Kashif and Kristy, will the couple raise their 4-year-old daughter together?
I received an ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this free arc. This story was very sweet although a little annoying in the beginning. The epilogue did have a very sweet story.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 3rd book in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. For me, this was the best of the 3. I have read all 3. This book was completely unbelievable but still a lot of fun. Boy, is Melka in trouble! I liked the characters Kristy and Prince Kashif. I liked the setting (Alaska). These books are a quick, fun, usually predictable reads. 4 stars
The Sheikh's Christmas Baby, is a great book to end this series with. It was sweet and loving. I loved the interaction with the dogs.
Their passionate affair ended in heartbreak when he left without warning. When he returns unexpectedly, can their heat melt away the hurt of the past?
Kashif Shadid has always craved adventure. With one last chance to win the Iditarod dog sled race before assuming his role as Sheikh, he’s returned to the Alaskan wilderness to train at a legendary sled dog farm. But returning means coming face to face with Kristy Cohen, the woman who captured his attention years ago. He’s thrilled once again by her icy beauty, but her farm is facing financial ruin. Kashif’s eager to take control, however, getting her to agree with his plans may be a challenge.
Kristy Cohen works hard to keep her sled dog farm afloat while raising her young daughter. Faced with declining revenues and a changing climate, Kristy’s struggling, but she’s not willing to turn her back on her business model. When Kashif Shadid shows up out of the blue pushing her to make changes, Kristy’s response is as cold as the Alaskan snow. She fell for tall, handsome Kashif once before. After four years without a word from him, she won’t be making that mistake again. And she’s certainly in no rush to trust him with the truth about her daughter. Their daughter.
This time, Kristy’s guarding more than just her heart. With her farm and her child’s happiness to consider, can she ever risk taking a chance on Kashif again?
I love, love, love a Sheikh romance, and was extra excited to get my hands on this one as it combined another two of my favourite tropes, Christmas romance and second chance romance. It was also written by Leslie North, a one-click author for me.
This book did not disappoint, it had all the feels, I absolutely loved it! Utterly predictable, as with all good romance books, this one is possibly my favourite in the series.
A fun, escapist read. A great way to spend an hour or two.
