This queer, anti-establishment, romp of a graphic novel is just what I needed! Hannah Templer does it again. With engaging and easily-identifiable characters (despite hair color changes) and nuanced expansion of the world and our characters' places in it, this is one not to miss.

I enjoyed this volume better than the first one! I love the characters; they’re all hot, smart, and charming. And the world is super compelling. This volume sets us up for some great action and possibly revolution in volume three! Highly recommend this series if you like Lesbian Space Operas (see The All-Consuming World)~

This was an excellent follow up to the first volume! I love the illustrations (especially the galaxies). We see the crew grow (both as characters and actually adding more people to the crew). It's just such a fun, queer space adventure and I love it!

Absolutely loved this one, just as much as the first. Hannah, definitely has found the perfect blend of space, adventure, found family, and love. The art was fantastic, and I loved all the colours used.

The family you choose molds who you are.

Dare I say I loved the long-awaited highly anticipated volume two even more than volume one. Six of Crows meets Paper Girls; the vibes were all around more exciting and fast paced. Where volume one set up the story, volume two gives the characters more room to grow as individuals while learning how to function together as a crew.

Cosmoknights are a secret resistance to the patriarchy. They pose as knights and fight in battles to rescue princesses and set them free in a land (or planet) far far away. But in volume two, they begin to question if what they're doing is actually the best way to fight back. And whose choice is it really in the end?

Cosmoknights takes 'Be gay. Do crimes.' to a whole new level.

The Cosmoknights are back with stunning art and even more cinematic queer space hijinks in the second installment of Hannah Templer's exemplary series. While book one gave me A Knight's Tale, The Hunger Games, Battle Royale, My Hero Academia, Thor: Ragnarok, Killjoys, The Expanse/Leviathan Wakes vibes, this volume has Thunderdome, Star Wars, Shang-Chi, Ocean's trilogy, Marvel's Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D, Gladiator, Mazerunner vibes in that it really deepens its exploration into the deeper lore of the Cosmoknights universe, the political underpinnings behind how the Cosmokinght matches work, what messing with existing ecosystems look like for everyone involved, and we get to know more about our amazing cast of characters and watch their interpersonal relationships form, deepen, and progress. As always, the art is absolutely stunning, breathtaking, bar none some of the most beautiful art in the graphic novel scene bar none. I truly could not rave about this art more. I did feel that this volume had a little bit of a slow burn at the beginning but more than made up for the slow pacing by the end and after having sat with the story for a few days to let it marinate I agree that the pacing Templer chose to tell the story in was needed for the story to have the most effective and impactful emotional hit and resonance. I really love reading about the characters and stories in this universe and sincerely hope that IDW Publishing and Top Shelf Productions keeps publishing volumes of Cosmoknights as long as Templer chooses to create them. The importance of showing how beautiful, safe, loving, nurturing, affirming, encompassing, and comforting found family is and showing beautifully poignant, affirming portrayals of sapphic found family at that is just so meaningful to me. I feel so blessed and grateful to be alive.

Thanks to Netgalley, IDW Publishing, Top Shelf Productions, Hannah Templer for providing me with a beautiful e-ARC to read in advance in exchange for my honest review.

One of my students recommended the first book to me and I loved it, so when the second book came up to read I jumped at the chance. I was not disappointed.
The story continued to add intrigue as the protagonist's (Pan's) dreams and worries were slightly resolved within this book as despite every obstacle in her way and her childhood friend,-Tara's life. Last book we saw Pan realising that Tara must have felt abandoned. The reader learns that though Tara felt abandoned at one point in her life she may have found a place somewhere. The author continues to show brilliant character development and ability to create tension and surprise the reader.
Also, the colour scheme of all of the art was brilliant and so was the art itself.

I read book one of Cosmoknights later last year and loved it! I loved the world-building and storytelling. It reminds me a bit of Netflix's She-Ra. Book two was even better in my opinion! I feel it added a lot to the overall story and was even more action-packed! Book one had to set up a lot of the story for readers to understand and I think book two had the room to add even more and explore it a bit. It also had beautiful illustrations just as book one did. Super excited to see how this series continues.

Cosmoknights Book Two comes out on June 13th!

*Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a copy of Cosmoknights (Book 2) in exchange for an honest review.

I finished book 1 and 2 of Cosmoknights in literally one sitting and I think I am absolutely in love with these books. “Cosmoknights” is a well-written, action-packed and beautifully illustrated graphic novel. A few pages in, you already feel drawn to the characters and their backstories. It’s impossible not to fall in love with them.

In the second book of this incredible graphic novel, we follow Pan, Bee, Cass and the two new members of the gang, Kate and princess Scottie, while they come up with a plan to finally overthrow the patriarchal system that rules the universe.

What you'll find in the Cosmoknights books:
- Lesbian knights in space
- Televised tournaments
- Lgbtq (butch, trans, lesbian), bipoc and plus-size rep
- Found family
- Sapphic and interracial main couple / other side sapphic couples
- Princesses who deserve to be free
- A queer version of the resistance
- Be gay, do crime, as the official mantra
- Long-awaited reunions
- Political plotlines and cozy moments

I love the Cosmoknights series so much. It's queer sci-fi perfection, and it gets better with every book. The characters are so wonderfully diverse and lovingly realized that it honestly feels like dropping into the middle of a group of friends you've known forever. Or, more appropriately, the kind of found family some queer people can only dream of: loving, loyal, affectionate, funny, and warm. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy of book 2, or how I'm going to survive the wait until book 3!

Publication date: June 13th, 2023

I have waited literal YEARS for this book to come out and it did not disappoint. The long-awaited sequel to one of my favorite graphic novels, Cosmoknights, is filled with amazingly developed complex queer characters, the most beautiful artwork you will ever find in a GN, and an action-packed plot that you seriously cannot stop reading. I loved everything about this! If you haven't read Cosmoknights then I highly suggest picking it up before this one comes out so you can be ready for pub day! It's seriously the best.

Now I guess I'll just sit here and twiddle my thumbs until the third book comes out. We left on QUITE a cliffhanger, so I don't know how long I'll be able to wait...

Thank you to NetGalley and IDW Publishing/Top Shelf Productions for an advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't think I have too many thoughts on this volume. It was a fun read, and as always I love the art (both the breathtaking scenes and goofy background moments), but it didn't quite strike me as much as the first did. Largely I think this is due to this volume serving as more of a transitional sequence to get ready for larger things in the next volume, while the previous one had so much exciting setting to show us.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but I think had this been the first volume I'm not sure I would have continued to the next

I absolutely adored volume one of this series so couldn't have been more excited to start my ARC of this one! We get some answers in volume two (no spoilers here) and it was so much fun to return to this world. I will never be over how beautiful the art and character design of Cosmoknights is and there are so many pages that truly deserve to be framed. This instalment focuses heavily on the importance of found family and I'm in love with the ever-growing one at the heart of this story. It is unbelievably touching to see a whole cast of wonderful sapphic characters as they show up for each other, (sometimes begrudgingly) work together, fall in love, AND go on adventures! In space! With pirates! This series genuinely feels like a gift and I never want it to end.

3.5 stars

It's been so long since I read the first one, so it took some time to catch up and orient myself. Really pretty art in a space adventure romp. I will admit to being totally wrong about the endgame ship, lol.

I was hooked at first sight of just the cover of the first volume. Sapphic space pirates trying to take down the patriarchy? Heck yes, I’m in. This second volume takes a step up in continuing the story of Pan and her ragtag bunch of queer found family. When we last left Pan she’d discovered a secret message from her childhood friend Tara that turned her life upside down. She’s suddenly left having to reconsider things she thought she knew. Did she really make a mistake in helping Tara escape all those years ago? Was it really even an escape?
In this second installment, we’re made to reconsider things right alongside her. Does rescuing princesses one by one really make that much of an impact? Where the first book was a raucous adventure into the cosmos with the characters, this second volume is starting to tell the story of “well we did the thing, now what?” I loved getting to see more depth to the relationship between Cass and Bee, as well as getting some looks into Bee’s backstory. I can’t wait to see where they go with Scottie’s character too. I really like getting to see some development of the Princesses as more than just political capitol.
I didn’t expect them to go into the whole geo political (can you still call it geo if it’s in space?) angle but I am really here for this deepening of the story from a fun adventure into a more fully rounded tale. I also really love the way they use color to set scenes in this series, going from striking acid green and dark blues to these warm moody purpley reds is really effective and helps with scene changes when jumping between perspectives.
I can’t wait for the next one! And thanks to NetGalley for the ARC copy!

Book 2 of the Cosmoknights saga is action-packed as the gang is chased down by a mysterious attacker. The crew has to face whether their rescues of princesses are the right choice or something they are imposing the princesses, making them just as bad as the System.

Cannot wait for the next installment!

Great queer rep and body positivity

Gays in space fighting the patriarchy, what more do you need?

I absolutely loved the first volume of Cosmoknights and was eagerly awaiting a new installment. I’m just so enamored with everything about this series. The characters, the story, the art, THE COLORS!!! I seriously can’t get over how much I love the colors in this book. They’re so vibrant and it adds so much to all the different scenes.

Something that I especially appreciated in this volume was getting more characters and their opinions about what the best way to make change would be. I loved seeing the different perspectives and how they clashed with each other at times.

This is a stunning graphic novel. Definitely check it out, or pick up the first volume if you haven’t yet.

ARC provided by NetGalley. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE THIS SERIES!!! I picked up the first book in the library and was absolutely stunned by how much I adored this book. The characters are so phenomenal, all of them with unique personalities and problems. The storyline was so fun especially since I haven’t read a lot of science fiction graphic novels, I wasn’t sure what I was going to think. Knights saving princesses from being married off!? Yes please. And the art. THE. ART. Literally too gorgeous to put into words. So imagine my thrill when I saw book two come onto NetGalley. Everything I said about the first book applies to this one. Phenomenal. The story has gotten deeper and more intense. Our characters are grappling with whether what they are doing is actually right. How can you save princesses from being forced to marry and yet not give them a choice as to whether they wanted to be rescued in the first place? Exactly - ugh so good!!! I cannot WAIT for the rest of this series. 10/10 - obviously buying for my library!

It feels like I've been waiting for ever since reading volume one and it was worth the wait! Beautiful, colorful art and a loveable cast of characters. It started a lottle slow, mostly because of where we had to pick up from the last installment but it picked back up.
Excited for number 3!
