This was a no for me, Max was not a likable character. He started off being absolutely clueless speaking to women in a degrading way. One of his first lines was in response to Dixie saying she’s fine “You sure are”… ok pervert. He reminded me of a frat boy I wouldn’t want to run into at a party.
But Dixie wasn’t much better, she wanted a promotion but she had forgotten about the meeting that they were suppose to discuss it… yeah that would have been a strong no for me as well. Even with what she had gone through what was she expecting.
You really can’t expect me to be ok with the characters “growth” when this was a 89 page novella.
All in all a quick read but for me I couldn’t get over the characters.
I received a copy of this book in turn for a honest review.
This is a cute, quick read that is also quite funny! It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Dixie works at a winery in Oregon and is dreaming of a white Christmas. She's also dreaming of a promotion, but she needs to prove herself first And what better way than to win the chance to renovate a building in town?
Max is back in Oregon trying to rebuild his life with the aid of multiple self-help books. He is trying to build up enough business to retire to Mexico. And what better way to start than to win the chance to renovate a building in town?
Miscommunications are the name of the game, but who will win?
Painful to read. Max was absolutely clueless speaking to women in a degrading way. Stomach churning. And then we have Dixie who thinks Mister Rogers is a creepy old man who wears sweaters, yet she doesn’t stop quoting him because her mom quoted him often. Very odd. What kind of person thinks Mister Rogers is creepy? The kind of person who spends time with a clueless man that acts like an old timey misogynist yet is up for some fun “booty call action”. This whole thing felt out of touch and uncomfortable.
A very sweet Christmas romance. It really could be made into a Hallmark movie. The small town winery setting adds such a sense of beauty and romance to this story. The book cover is gorgeous and really sets the mood for the story.
I loved this cover and this is just what I needed for my Christmas preparation. The best thing about this was the banter and swoon worthy hero. A good man has the ability to predict what a girl likes and wants. And have a very good memory. So that’s what won me over with this novella. It’s super short but packed with just enough info to make you smile and be glad you read it.
Thanks Charlotte Rains Dixon via NetGalley.

Before I begin my review I just have to comment on how pretty the cover is. I know if it was available as a physical book I would definitely purchase it.
This was such a fun and festive read. It was less than 100 pages so it was a very quick read. I read it just before bed last night. I definitely plan on rereading this again in December.
This is an enemies-to-lovers novella but it doesn't stay that way for long. It's also a small-town romance I have to say that these are one of my favorite tropes in romance books. I think it's because I grew up in a small town.
I am going to keep my review short because I don't want to give to much away since its a novella but if your curious to know then you have to pick it up.
The main characters are Dixie and Max. Both have come to Oregan with broken hearts. For Dixie, it's finding out her fiancee and her best friend was having an affair, and for Max, it's a divorce. Dixie works at a winery and is trying her best, hoping for a promotion but her bosses don't quite feel she is right for the job just yet. She is determined to prove herself that she is capable of doing the job if only she could keep her focus on the tasks at hand.
Enter Max, who just happens to have a meeting right after Dixie. Dixie thinks that Max is here about the job. Instantly Dixie is not impressed and she basically shows it.
Will Dixie be able to prove herself capable of the promotion? Will Dixie get the snow that she is hoping for?
I definitely could see this as a series or even a full-length book. I was invested and wanted to know more about Dixie, Max, and the winery owners. When you still think about the characters after reading the book you know it's a good book.
short and sweet small town christmas romance! max and dixie get off on the wrong foot but quickly fall for each other. i liked the pacing & thought the characters were well developed for such a short book. clean romance and minimal conflict made this the perfect quick read for the festive season
This is a novella. I have not read anything from this author before. It's about Dixie & Max. Dixie was up for a promotion at her job, and she thought Max was her competition. They ended up telling each other their "tales of woe". Very cute story.
Beautifully written novella with all the small town charm! I loved Dixie and Max so much! They dislike each other at first but then fall in love. I couldn’t put the book down!
This is such a cute Christmas Novella. Dixie and max start out as enemies and quickly find themselves to be lovers. This romance has a very cozy, small town atmosphere with lots of laughs and holiday cheer. The small town atmosphere made me think of my home town and I connected to it a lot, it made me want to go visit.
This sweet holiday novella starts as enemies to lovers, but Dixie and Max aren’t enemies for long. Dixie works at a winery and believes that Max is a competitor for the job promotion she wants. Turns out that they aren’t competing for that, but are in competition for a contest their town is hosting over the holidays.
This small town romance has plenty of holiday atmosphere, a hilarious scene where Dixie has just a bit too much wine to drink, and a sweet ending. I would happily read a full length book about the characters living in Pineview, Oregon! I adored Dixie’s feisty personality. The winery owners were great secondary characters who I would love to read more about! The cover art is also absolutely beautiful and sets the stage for the fun holiday read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Charlotte Rains Dixon for the festive read in exchange for my honest opinion!
