I finished it, so it doesn't get 1 star. But I was thoroughly unimpressed, so it gets 2.

The premise is interesting. Colbie and Phil on their wedding day and he's late...yeah, where is Phil? Welp - he's dead. What happened to Phil?

So there's no wedding and instead Colbie mourns and continues to live in the house she shared with Phil, a house owned by his parents. A house she hasn't paid rent for that's owned by not-in-laws who don't really like her much. It's no surprise to the reader that Colbie is told she needs to move out, but it came as quite a shock to her.

On what would have been her first wedding anniversary, Colbie decides to go away for a few days with the box of letters wedding guests wrote to the happy couple and a few friends: James, her BFF; Eric, Phil's BFF; and Miles, a musician at the wedding (I guess he didn't get to play) that no one knew before they booked him (or did they??) but has somehow insinuated himself into a friendship with Colbie.

While reading the letters, they come across one from Phil. It says if they're reading the letter, he's dead. How would he know?!

Back to the weekend away...the rental has 3 bedrooms. But there are four adults, so where is everyone going to sleep??? Well, what makes the most sense is for Colbie to sleep in a different man's room each night. This is where I would have stopped just because it's stupid.

There's sexual tension between the men and Colbie that no one involved could have missed. And why book a 3-bedroom when they needed 4? Why even was Miles there? Who becomes so close to a person they didn't even know one year before. What about the rest of the band? These questions and more made me shake my head.

There wasn't a thriller aspect to this book. What happened to Phil took a backseat to the weird relationships, to the point that I didn't care any more.

I listened to the audiobook and narrator Subhadra Newton was very good. Her voices for the male characters was easy to take and not annoying. Good narration wasn't enough to save a silly story, though.

My thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscapes media for the Advance Listener Copy in exchange for an honest review.

Mediocre plot about a woman's husband-to-be dying on her wedding day. On what would have been her first wedding anniversary, she goes away with her 3 best male friends to read the letters people wrote at the wedding. She then discovers that there are more secrets surrounding his death. The narrator's voice was very annoying and the plot was really quite far fetched and the listener was left banging their head because of the main character's stupidity.

Another quick, entertaining read by this author. A woman goes away with her friends after her husband dies. While there, she finds a letter from her husband that makes her question everything. She doesn’t know who to trust or what to believe

It is the one-year anniversary of Colbie's wedding day and the death of her fiancé, Phil. Her and her three best male friends have rented an Airbnb for the weekend so that she wont have to be alone since she has been a wreck. When she opens a box of well wishes from the wedding day she discovers a note from Phil she realizes he was keeping secrets and that there was more to his untimely death.

I have enjoyed other novels from Kiersten Modglin but this was not one of them, there are so many plot holes and character flaws that I don't even know where to begin. The story is told from Colbie's POV and I did like that it was dual timelines from present day and the wedding day. However, I truly disliked the Colbie who is self-absorbed, overly dramatic and entitled (she just assumes she can stay in her fiancées house without talking to Phil's parents who own it). BTW who sits around in their wedding dress, for hours after the ceremony was supposed to begin without finding out what is going on? For the vacation the four characters rent an Airbnb but do not get enough bedrooms, so she has to share and spending one night in each of the man's room, so she isn't "playing favorites", what?? Oh yes and all three of them are in love with her, including the wedding singer. And said wedding singer, who she never met before the wedding, just wanted to check on her and become her new bff, and happens to have ties to Phil past? It's all over the top and I found myself talking back to the audio book with each new ridiculous revelation. I would not call this a suspense and over all it's a hard pass, skip this one.

I had the audio version read by Subhadra Newton who was ok.

I have read previous Kiersten Modglin books before and this one was not up to the level of INSANITY that usually keeps readers in shock. Honestly the book needed something to pull you in and keep you hooked. If I am being completely honest, there just wasn't a hook and even the conclusion was anticlimactic. Colbie is honoring what would have been the anniversary of her 1st wedding anniversary if her fiancé hadn't died on the wedding day. She finds a letter from her fiancé that seems to know he was going to die. This leads her on a journey to find what happened. With the help of her 3 best friends (all male) she realizes she can't heal until she knows what happened. On some level all of her friends have feelings for her that are above friendship. She tries to work out if she feels the same for any of them. She turns to Miles James, and Peter ,her support system, and they all try to support her, while, not really helping her. After reaching out to her almost in-laws, who hate her, she realizes she will lose her home and that chapter of her life will end. She will find out the truth, but is it a truth she wants to know? Did she even know her fiancé at all?

I loved this book right up until the final twist. I loved it so much that I basically read it in one sitting, but I just didn’t buy that the main character would “get over it” so quickly and even enter into a relationship with one of the men who killed her fiancé at their wedding.

If Your Reading This
By Kiersten Modglin

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an advance copy of this audiobook in turn for my honest review.

It’s been a year since Colby Moore was to marry the love of her life. A day that was the worst day of her life. While opening a box of well wishes and notes from guests she comes upon a note that will change everything about that day and the man she was suppose to have married that day.

As always, another great story from Kiersten Modglin. I really enjoyed listening to this story and I look forward to another story of Kiersten’s.

*NetGalley review*

Colbie receives a mysterious letter on the anniversary of her wedding. The whole book is spent trying to decipher the letter and her husband's death. I enjoyed the back and forth viewpoint between the current day and her wedding day. It helped give context to the situation as well as allowing us to understand more about the characters. I thought the book was well written and kept me interested, but it was a slow burn. I didn't expect the ending, but it also seemed rushed in comparison with the rest of the story. I've heard high praise for Kiersten Modglin, but this one fell short for me. Thank you: NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for allowing me to read this one in exchange for an honest review.

If You're Reading This by Kiersten Modglin was me trying her again after loving The Arrangement and me feeling disappointed that this didn't live up to expectations. I'm starting to think KMod might not be for me after The Reunion, Tell Me The Truth, and now this one all were just meh.

I will say that if you want a book that is an easy read and you don't want depth and just want in the moment entertainment this might be a good choice for you. It is not a book that will stick with me in the long run.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read and review this one.

This author has many twisty and suspenseful books and I love her stories but this one just didn’t live up to her usual work.

It is one year since Colbie lost her fiancé Phil on their wedding day. She is on a trip with her three best friends - James, her high school friend, Miles, a member of the wedding band who Colbie met on her wedding day and Eric, Phil's best friend, when she finds a cryptic letter from Phil suggesting that perhaps his death wasn't accidental.

The concept of this book set up - a woman losing her fiancé on the day of her wedding and then becoming best friends with her deceased fiancé‘s best friend and a man who played in the wedding band that she didn’t know at all (plus her male best friend from high school who is secretly in love with her) felt unrealistic and kind of weird. Especially the setting of the three men joining Colbie on a holiday on the one year death date anniversary to take care of her. I also found the characters to be one note. Most of the plot line was internal dialogue and seemed repetitive. The ending wasn't exactly predictable but unsurprising in any event.

The first person narration was performed well by the audio narrator. She kept the story engaging and was the reason for rounding up to three stars.

I think readers who don't mind a simple straightforward psych thriller and are okay with the character set up will like this book much more than I did. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I normally love all things that Kiersten Modglin writes, So when I got the ARC on this i was so excited. This one just... hit differently. I don't know if its because its a stand alone. or if the 'believeablity' just wasn't there for me. I will still read everything she writes. but this one just wasn't it for me.

This book has a bit of a different vibe, but it was still excellent. She writes in a way that you have devour the whole thing immediately to figure out what happened. This wasn’t her most suspenseful book, but I liked it and the way the story was told with so much honesty about grief as well. Kiersten’s characters are always alive and full of realistic emotion. Colbie and Phil were supposed to be wed but tragedy struck. On what would have been their first anniversary Colbie opens a box of letters and finds one that makes her realize there were things she didn’t know about her fiancé and she becomes determined to figure it out with the help of her three best friends

This is my first Modglin book and I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller.
The plot centers around a bride who never actually became a bride on her wedding day. It's an ominous beginning and only becomes more ominous.
The narrator did an excellent job with a story that became a bit unwieldly as it evolved. However, it kept me guessing and held my interest. I look forward to the next by this author.

Colbie’s one year wedding anniversary is right around the corner. It is the anniversary of a wedding that didn’t actually happen. Her groom-to-be collapsed and died right before the ceremony. But, Colbie has always had questions about that day. When she decides to read the letters meant for the bride and groom for their first anniversary, she finds one that sends her whole world into a complete tailspin.

Well, when this story began, I had no idea this would happen! Talk about lies and deceptions from just about everyone! And to be honest, I think that Colbie is just way to naive to go through life. I think she missed a lot of clues! And some of her decisions are just a bit questionable and selfish. But you will have to read this to find out. It is definitely a story which will have you guessing and then cussing because of a character’s lie!

The narrator, Subhadra Newton, did a great job, especially with all the voices. And there are quite a few friends and family in this tale!

Need a good “what the heck is going on!” book…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

This is not my favorite Kiersten Modglin book but it was still a fun over the top thriller. In this book we follow Colbie one year after her fiancés death she decides to spend it with the people who have supported her the past year. We have Eric her fiancés best friend , James her best friend and Miles their wedding singer. While spending the anniversary together on a trip Colbie realized her fiancé death has a lot of unknown parts to her and she works on putting it all together.

I really enjoyed this book it was in no means shocking as some other Kiersten Modglin books but it was still a fun entertaining read that kept you guessing. I did listen to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator she did a great job at keeping in fun and engaging while making it easy to understand. I plan on picking up more from this author in the future. I would like to thank Net galley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I love everything Kiersten Modglin writes because despite the short nature of a lot of her novels, she still manages to develop the characters and relationships enough that you'll care about them by the end. This book was no exception as I spent the entire time wondering how everyone was intertwined and questioning if everyone was telling the truth. I thought the ending was a bit lack luster compared to some of her other books but did enjoy the wholesome nature of it and found it relatable and realistic.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I listened to this on audiobook and overall didn’t really like it. I tried my best to get into the story, but found it a little confusing who was who when it came to the three male characters. Sadly this is the second Kiersten Modglin book that I’ve listened to on audiobook and didn’t care for. Next time I plan on reading one of her books and see if that helps. Maybe the narration doesn’t do it for me. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the Advance Review Copy. #NetGalley #IfYoureReadingThis

Colbie’s husband-to-be, Phil, died on their wedding day. Now, one year later, Colbie and her three friends James, Eric, and Miles are on a trip together. While on the trip, Colbie opens a box of letters meant for the bride and groom to open on their anniversary. Surprise! There is one from Phil. The letter says if she is reading it, then he must be dead. Was there more to his death than she originally thought? Did someone murder Phil?

I am a fan of Kiersten Modglin, but this one was much different from her other books. The plot kept me hooked and intrigued, but there weren’t the shocking twists and turns that I’ve come to expect with a Kiersten Modglin book. I found the ending of this one really anticlimactic and not spectacular like a usual Modglin book. Overall, I would give it 3.5/5 stars because I did enjoy the plot up until the ending.
