“On the one-year anniversary of her wedding, Colbie Moore’s life looks nothing like it should. Still grieving the loss of the man she meant to spend her life with, Colbie prepares for a weekend away to take her mind off her heartache, but the simple plan results in much more than she bargained for.”

Full disclosure, this is the third in a series of less-than-satisfactory books, AND all my Hallowe’en chocolate is gone, so I’m probably a little more grumpy about it, than normal.

Having said that, I did not enjoy this book at all.

I didn’t like any of the characters. Not the main, who were flat and juvenile and shifty. Not the secondary who were flat and juvenile and existed only to give us characters to despise.

I didn’t like the storyline, nor the gaping plot holes.

I certainly didn’t like the conclusion, or the tacked-on, last-page romance.

I did not like it here or there. I did not like it anywhere.

Now, the author has a pretty high audience score on Good Reads, so by all means, consider this opinion an aberration, but I’m, honestly, annoyed at myself for finishing this book.

2.5/10

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC. I promise I’ll like the next one more.

We jump right into Colbie's pain as we learn her husband died of a heart attack on their wedding day, just minutes before they were due to walk down the aisle. Now, a year later, Colbie is "celebrating" her 1 year wedding by going on a little vacation with her three best friends and opening her wedding cards meant for the anniversary. Once the wedding cards are open, things take a turn...at the bottom of the pile is a letter from Colbie's dead fiance and she is left with so many questions.

Not my favorite of Modglin but it keeps my attention. I was dying to know why Phil, Colbie's fiance, would leave her this letter. Was he in danger? Was he dying? Was he planning to leave her?

This book is short so we find out quickly who and what is behind this mysterious note. For me, there was a lot that was just too unbelievable. To begin with, I thought it was strange that Colbie had created these strong bonds with these men, especially the wedding singer, that she met on the day of the wedding. There was a lot that just didn't add up.

As far as the audiobook and narrator, it was well executed.

Will I keep reading Modglin? Of course...I love her messy stories, they are always binge able.

Ever since I listened to Kiersten Modglin's [book:Our Little Secret|58505610] last year, all her novels have become my must-read. They are addictive and full of suspense.

"If You're Reading This..." follows Colbie, a bride-to-be who didn't have a chance to say I DO when the groom died on their wedding day. On her supposedly one-year anniversary, Colbie will open a box of letters that were meant for the couple. The task was too painful, and she couldn't go through it alone so she invited her three closest friends - Miles, James, and Eric- to be with her on a mini holiday. When the moment arrives, one of the letters changes everything she thought she knew!

Kiersten Modglin consistently delivers entertaining fast pace domestic suspense. However, "If You're Reading This..." lacks the heart-pounding suspense and multiple twists that I've come to expect from the author. KMod spoiled us!! There are also a few unrealistic, eye-rolling, and sappy moments. My main disappointment is probably Colbie who I didn't really connect with. Even though this one didn't become my new favorite, the audiobook was still enjoyable.

In If You’re Reading This, Colbie is still reeling from her fiancé’s sudden heart attack and death right before their wedding.
To mark the one year anniversary, Colbie goes on a weekend away with several close friends, and learns that perhaps there was a lot more happening on that day than she realized.
This is a fun twisty thriller, but I didn’t feel fully engrossed in the story, and I found the main character too needy and whinny to be likable.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this storyline and the narration is fantastic! The plot itself had very few twists that weren’t predictable for me but I was surprised with how it ended. I’ve read a few of this authors other books and they’re well written and have deep characters. I would definitely recommend for anyone who likes domestic thrillers, and I look forward to reading what she releases next!

Colbie decides to take a trip with her three best friends on the one-year anniversary of her fiance's passing. The trip started with a mysterious letter, written by her late boyfriend. The getaway, which was supposed to heal and nourish Colbie's grief, revealed deep dark secrets of the man she once vowed to love for the rest of her life.

If You're Reading This is a great suspense story, however, I have expected more. Kiersten Modglin's style is like no other, the finales of her previous books have left me with my jaw hanging. It's not that I didn't enjoy this read, in the end, I simply didn't feel amazed by the final twists of the story. Overall, it was a fast-paced read with a thrilling storyline.

Said that - I am looking forward to all future novels by this amazing author.

Thank you, NetGalley for a free and advanced copy of the novel.

Thank you NetGalley for this copy. I would say this book was very average. Feels odd to me that a widow would go on a vacation with three single men. There have to be things behind the scenes. Lots of secrets come out in this book though that I didn't see coming, however none of it was that drastic or shocking. The ending was not what I had expected. It was ok. Some good parts. I have read better by her.

Kiersten Modglin has done it again. I have yet to read anything by this author that did not intrigue me and keep me guessing.

If You're Reading This... is the story of Colbie Moore, and the important men in her life. On what should be the one year celebration of her wedding anniversary, Colbie is doing anything but celebrating. Colbie is grieving the loss of her husband, and is meant to spend the weekend with her three best man friends. In a box of letters meant to be opened on their anniversary, Colbie finds a letter that changes everything she thought she knew about the "accidental death" of her husband. Colbie begins to question everyone around her, and will stop at nothing to find out what happened to her husband on their wedding day.

This story was heart-wrenching and kept me on my toes, waiting to see what would happen next. Modglin has a way of keeping the reader engaged that is unlike many others. I listened to the audiobook version of this story. Although the audio from netgalley was terrible, I was able to stay engaged and focused on the story (which I am unable to do with most audiobooks).

Would highly recommend reading this book, and look forward to reading more by this author in the future,

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this book before it was published in exchange for an honest review.

3.25? stars

I tend to have fun with this writer’s books, but this one just definitely wasn’t my favourite of hers. It’s supposed to be a suspense/thriller type, but I wouldn’t categorize it that way; I would consider it more of a domestic drama, perhaps, with a bit of an underlying mystery, but I really wasn’t feeling much of a buildup of tension, plot-wise. Can’t win them all, though; here’s hoping I enjoy the next one by this author more.

This is one of my favorite authors as she always writes solid books. This one wasn’t one of the best but still a decent mystery with lots of interesting twists. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was good, I wish she had more distinct character voices though.

I was really into this book for a bit. Honestly, the plot kept me hooked and I was intrigued until the end when the final details came out. The ending was super anticlimactic and, honestly, kind of boring. I also didn’t like how the family acted, they were a step beyond horrible.

🌀Synopsis
It’s been one year since Colbie’s fiancé passed away on their wedding day. They didn’t even get to the ceremony as he died of a heart attack before they could be married.

Now, one year later, she’s headed kn a trip with the three guys that have gotten her through since that day. They are going to open the letter that we’re left for them to open on their 1 year anniversary as a couple. It’s heartbreaking but Colbie knows she has to do it. Then she finds a note her fiancé wrote indicating he may have known he was about to die. Which is impossible since it was a heart attack…right?

Colbie decides to dig in and find out what really happened. After a visit to her late fiancé’s family someone slashes her tires and starts following her around. She is even more certain something bad happened to cause the death and then she overhears a conversation that will change her life forever and answer some questions.

What would you do if you received a cryptic message from your deceased love one? Would you want to try to figure it out? Or ignore it? This is the dilemma Colbie Moore is facing one year after the death of her fiancé Phil.
I enjoyed the concept and mystery of the story. The sudden death of the man she loves on their wedding day which, for the past year, Colbie has been under the assumption was due to a heart attack. Now due to a letter from him she wonders if this is true. Her venture to find the truth leaves her reliving the wedding day and seeking out answers from those close to Phil. However not everyone wants to help her with this quest.
Unfortunately the narration of the story does not help to add to the suspense or complexity of the story. The narrator sounds very young and this is unbelievable as the main character. Similarly there is little distinction provided for the character voices leaving the listener wondering which one is talking. Overall the story is interesting but this audiobook seems to miss the beat.
Many thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook arc.

This one had potential, but it just fell very short in the end. The idea of the plot was unique, but the execution was poor. The shifts between the two timelines was too quick (and I'm someone who usually likes quick chapters and dual timelines), and it was hard to really find a rhythm with either timeline. I felt like the writing and the execution were contrived, and overall the book could have been better written. This one was just......meh.

I have read each and every book by this author and the second she posts a new release I order it asap. This is a fast pace for sure one sitting read that keeps you needing the next page and then the next page. This book def has a lot more heart than all of her books in my opinion. She’s the queen of twists and turns.

3.5 stars. Another good read from K. Mod. Admittedly this was not the most twisty or suspenseful of her books, but I still tore through it, trying to figure out what happened. Nothing will top the Arrangement series, though.

This is one of the best NetGalley audiobooks I’ve listened to! The mystery kept me interested, and wasn’t super predictable. I loved the character development, and thought the ending was a little out of the blue, but thought through, and I really enjoyed trying to figure out the romance and mystery throughout the story! I definitely recommend this book, and will be reading more from this author.

I am a big Kiersten Modglin fan (especially the Arrangement series). However, If You're Reading This... does not measure up to any of her previous novels that I have read. I was expecting so much more, but there was only one twist that was not that shocking, it was more, "Sure, okay."

Overall, it was too farfetched for me. I rate it 3 stars because I was mildly entertained and didn't hate it, but I wouldn't read it again.

Subhadra Newton is a decent narrator for this audiobook.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC.

Kiersten Modglin's books are entertaining and I will read anything she writes. I listened to this as an audiobook, and the narrator does a great job at keeping the story moving.

This book was probably my least favorite of her books to date. I found the men to be a little interchangeable and didn't feel as invested as I had hoped. I love this author and will look forward to her next book!

Thank you Net Galley, Kiersten Modglin and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I am used to Kiersen Modglin books making me turn each page with suspense and heart pounding action. This one was not that. I didn't get into the book until halfway through and was disappointed with the ending. I kept waiting for the twist that didn't come. Predictable, not my favorite KM book. It was a good, light read, but I would not recommend.

Colby was about to marry Phil when he suddenly drops dead of a heart attack at the wedding. A year later she meets up with three friends Eric, Miles and James to open the letters people wrote to them at the wedding for their future one year anniversary. They stumble upon a letter written to Colby from her husband and it leaves her wondering what type of man Phil reallly might have been.

This was a quick, fun thrill in classic Modglin form. You will be wondering which guy knows more than they are letting on as Modglin drops clues. There was one scene at the end that I struggled to understand.
