The name does not lie! As someone who has mostly done embroidering and needlepoint from patterns and kits, this book is a great resource for stepping out on my own to make projects. Everything in here is adorable, but there are some more "plain" items too (like plants and household items that expand the audience for the book or projects made from the book. The possibilities are truly endless with this one.

The book is packed with adorable, beginner-friendly designs—perfect for making cute, personalized items for my little one. The instructions are clear, and the illustrations are super helpful, even for someone like me who's fairly new to embroidery.
I love that the projects are simple but still look impressive once finished, and there are so many ideas for stitching animals, flowers, and playful patterns. It’s a great creative outlet and has become my go-to for relaxing craft time.

How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing is a delightful book that belongs on every library shelf! I felt so lucky to get a copy for myself! I have shared on my goodreads, bookstagram, and booktok!
Love love love this book. Definitely a ton of really cute ideas to add a little adorable touch to your embroidery pieces.
"How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing" is a slight, yet colorful, introduction to embroidery. By sharing images of fun motifs to embroider along with helpful instructions on how to complete each one, this book will serve as a good guide for an advanced beginner or intermediate stitcher.
Disclaimer, I didn't get to try out any of the motifs in this book myself. There are a LOT of different designs in the book, however it's not very beginner-friendly and more for advanced hobbyists. It'd be a lovely reference book for anyone that want to create customized clothing items or linens with embroidery designs!
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This really wasnt for me. The book is divided into two parts. The first is pictures of all the cute things. And then the pattern for the picture is in part two. Why not just have the picture and the pattern together?
The pattern themselves werent great. I understand this is a beginners book but they are really basic. Instructions on how to do the different stitches werent great either.
A beautifully illustrated and straightforward resource for embroidery and motifs. There are many ideas from which to find inspiration in this book of sixty five pages. I particularly loved the flower alphabets. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
I really liked this guide, and tbh I wanted to make all of it. Immediately!!!! Will definitely have to purchase a copy, so that I can embroider more cute things!
It is also pretty easy to follow, and organized well!
Adorable little motifs, they make great ideas for things to embroider on small bags, handkerchiefs, hats, clothing and other things that then make lovely gifts. Or the book in itself is a great gift for embroidery enthusiasts. I loved it.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
The book contains 550 motifs and beginner stitch tutorials. The categories are assorted patterns, simple flowers, folk art flowers, fairy tale flowers, breakfast foods, fruits and vegetables, favourite foods, sweets and treats, zodiac animals, dogs and cats, favourite animals, animal friends, fairy tale animals, everyday life, sports and games, hobbies and activities, border designs, flower alphabets (in upper and lower case), food alphabets, letters and numbers, childhood favourites, and people and things.
At the bottom of each page of embroidery motifs is an indication about the page numbers to turn to for instructions and the person responsible for those patterns.
If you are interested in embroidery, it helps you tap into your creativity and see motifs all around you.
I particularly liked the page on border designs. The food alphabets were quite creative. All these designs would look lovely on a baby’s clothes, or even to help personalise a garment. The author has included some photos of socks, baby clothes, T-shirts etc to show how a little bit of embroidery could enhance a garment.
The latter part of the book contains some basic instructions and tips on what a beginner would require in order to get started on an embroidery project. This part of the book brought back fond memories of the embroidery lessons my mom used to give me when I was little, If you didn’t have an elder in your family to show you the ropes, the author has you covered. There are instructions on how to thread a needle, trace a design from the book and transfer it on to the fabric, how to separate the embroidery floss and how to start and finish stitching.
There are lessons for the straight stitch, running stitch, outline stitch, back stitch, chain stitch, French Knot, Lazy Daisy stitch, satin stitch, The lessons for the stitches are accompanied by easy instructions and helpful photos.
The stitch guide suggests the type of stitch to be used while embroidering all the patterns provided in the book. The book ends with the profiles and Instagram handles of the people who have contributed their patterns to the book.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Cute motifs to embroider. Lots of clear instructions.
Sadly, I was unable to access this book. It was not Kindle compatible although I was very much looking forward to.the content.
I received an electronic copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Jam-packed with alphabets, borders, and hundreds of characters, foods, musical instruments and, and, and...
while there is a beginners' tutorial on stitching, this book might be more suited to the experienced embroidery aficionado.
You will see each of the images three times each (one in color, one "pattern", and one black-and-white version. The patterns are very small.
I gave this three stars instead of two simply because of the quantity and variety of motifs.
3.5 stars
This book has lots of designs with plenty of variety in terms of subject matter (less variety in size & style). It could be a great source of inspiration, & the diagrams could also help you figure out good approaches to embroidering objects you haven’t tried to do before.
The motifs are small, but pretty detailed with dense stitching, so it may not be the best book for a complete beginner to start with.
[What I liked:]
•The title is accurate! There’s a bunch of patterns in here (mainly small icon style ones, but also alphabets & basic border patterns), & they are very cute. A bit stylized, but not cartoonish.
•There is the standard basic stitch how-to section at the front with pictures, & several of the designs are shown completed in color photos.
•The diagrams are pretty straightforward with basic outlines for tracing/transfer, & each section is labeled with which stitch & which color floss to use
[What I didn’t like as much:]
•A lot of these are pretty dense & complex designs. It might be nice to have a mix of simpler ones along with the more complex ones.
[I received an ARC ebook copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you for the book!]
(I cannot link to good reads as the title is not on there & only librarians can add new books now)
Embroidery is something I've always wanted to try but not had the confidence...or time! This book blew me away with the sheer amount of cute things that I could start putting on things! It starts off with a whole range of things in different categories that are pictured in 'already done' mode. This allows you to see what finished ones will look like in colour. The last part of the book introduces you to the stitches needed and some tricks and tips. Then it goes through the design again with a quick nod to which stitch will be needed. Not sure this is altogether beginner friendly, (I already know one end of a needle from another) but it definitely intrigues and I'm sure that new starters will pick it up with no problem. Thanks to the author and Netgalley for a temporary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
A cute book with many great ideas! Not exactly patterns, but ideas to inspire your next project!
Well thought out and clear images
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.
