Jokes to Offend Men is exactly what the title advertises - a collection of jokes that poke fun at the patriarchy, toxic masculinity, and generally the ideology that keeps women in most of the world at a disadvantage. A great read for when you are feeling a bit fired up because of all the injustice going on in the world.
To point out one of my favourite jokes in here:
"What do men and exclamation points have in common?"
"They make you doubt your professionalism and ultimately you don't need as many as you think."

Oh my gosh, laugh out loud funny! I'll admit, the title grabbed my attention, and I'm so glad it did. Authored by comedy writers Allison Kelley, Danielle Kraese, Kate Herzlin, and Ysabel Yates - these four kept me in stitches.

The audiobook edition is performed by Kate Herzlin, Cortney Wright, and Erica Hernandez.

I am in love with this book.

Sparky,

Sarcastic.

Irreverent

You could even say Bitchy.

It is SHEER PERFECTION.

Every woman needs to either read this book, or better yet, listen to the audiobook.

I cannot recommend JOKES TO OFFEND MEN any higher than the highest available option.

I rate this audiobook as 10 out of 10.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Andrews McMeel Audio and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is irony personified. Its sad how many of the jokes, I could relate to and how many of the jokes were quite real situations thst I as a woman in my 20's have found myself in. I truly appreciate this book existing. The best part of the book was where a question would be asked and each of the author/ narrator would answer the question, with the intensity of irony/ sarcasm increasing with each answer. It was a quick listen and unapologetically funny, and a slap to the face honest.

This was laugh out loud funny. I love that all of these female comedians worked together on this. It was witty, clever, and absolutely hilarious.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun listen. I received this audiobook as a Net Galley ARC after seeing it on the website. I enjoyed the jokes and thought many of them were funny. I think I would have appreciated it more as an actual book vs. an audiobook. It's weird to listen to jokes read straight through without a laugh track.

The writing is witty and full of power. I love the comedic elements and how they were able to pair such elements with significant messages against the very patriarchal and misogynistic society that we all live in.

This short collection had some jokes that were ⭐️💯⭐️, some groaners, some just depressing— but I think mostly sharp & cathartic burns. The necessity of this book feels sad and forever inadequate, like a whisper against centuries of nonstop hurricanes. But I’m glad for it to exist and I appreciate the “Ha!’s” it pulled from me. I think it might work better as a coffee table type book with fun pictures instead of an audiobook.
What’s the difference between a man and this book? One will make you smile and the other will just tell you to smile….

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

This is a fun mash-up, refresh, and retelling of jokes without women as the butt of the jokes. The only men likely to be offended are the one telling jokes at the expense of women in the first place. At once insightful and funny, the jokes occasionally hit so close to home you may find yourself nodding along.

In my world there are a lot of Jokes about someone’s mothers, blonde jokes and jokes about women in general. But I couldn’t recall any Jokes about men.
“Jokes to offend men” tackles this unfairness and fills this gap in the market.
Not all jokes landed and some of them had to much truth in them to be funny, but a few really blew my mind. I enjoyed listening to them and it made me laugh out loud in Public. Unintended.
Humour is something personal and not everyone will like this kind of jokes. Some might in fact be offended, but after all I think they were interesting and necessary.

I don't think this was meant to offend men. These jokes give an accurate representation of the unfair bias in several different settings. Admittedly, I chuckled at a few though.

this satire is centred around the oblivious advantage taken over women today and the discrimination towards females on a daily basis, boiling down to the slightest of mundane activities. i enjoyed the different narrators and the jokes of course. i loved the truth to it and would definitely recommend it.

Jokes to Offend Men

I Picked Up This Book Because: The title caught my attention

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Netgalley
Dates Read: 11/17/22
Stars: 3
Narrator(s): Cortney Wright, Rachel Butera

These are not really jokes. While some anecdotes are amusing most are enraging observations that just plain suck. However, I also am glad these things are being discussed and hopefully we are on the cusp of change.

What a fantastic and hilarious listen! I had the immense pleasure - thanks to the authors and NetGalley - of listening to this on audiobook, and I especially enjoyed that the authors read the audiobook themselves.

I’m not sure what I expected when I heard the title and read the synopsis, but I was surprised by how quick most of the jokes and punchlines were and the shear volume of content they managed to fit into an hour!! I immediately found myself laughing out loud and saying “oh burn!” The book covers a huge variety of categories including everything from work, school, privilege, sex, health, etc. It was surprisingly thought provoking and I think would be enjoyed by both men and women of various ages.

I think I’d enjoy reading the jokes perhaps even more than I enjoyed listening and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to shake up their typical reading repertoire.

4.4 stars!

This book is such a "thoughts all women have in their lifetime". It was delightful to listen to while driving. Thank you for the opportunity of this audiobook.

Some great jokes in this book! However, I wish the book would have kicked off with the simple jokes and built into something more that simple q/a jokes. A few got me laughing out loud though.

Thanks to NetGalley and the authors for this advanced audiobook for review.

While the premise was promising and a few of the jokes were incredibly clever and biting in the best of ways... it quickly became clear that this was less a rich social and political commentary, or even a particularly original bit of humor and more a joke book with a long list of jokes after the classic style, with most simply inverted 'staples.' It's a brilliant idea and a much needed bit of fun, but missed so many opportunities.

Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Audio for the audiobook ARC!

Jokes to Offend Men is a hilarious book that turns the tables on the patriarchy. The jokes take on some familiar forms, but flip the humor back on the male sex. And in the process, they point out a lot of problematic areas of our society.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was hilarious, read similar to a poetry novel but filled with jokes instead. In terms of the audiobook nature, I really enjoyed all 4 narrators and that the authors were those narrators, and it was a quick read/listen. Personally, I very much tend to prefer audiobooks where the authors narrate their own novels!
In physical form, this would make an excellent and sassy gift, and would be a great addition to any coffee table for a few laughs. The writing did not hold anything back and ranged from topics such as education, upbringing, sexuality, health, privilege, etc. All of it was extremely relevant and I was surprised how they were able to articulate things I'd felt but couldn't put into words yet - in a funny way!

Jokes to Offend Men is a hilarious novel, and a fun audiobook. Overall 5 stars!
