This book was an excellent and encouraging read. The author gives 15 small habits that can change your daily routine to help you get the most out of your life, professionally and personally. I liked the balance in this book about reaching professional goals while also prioritizing personal lives, family, friends, etc. It would be a great read for anybody who feels overwhelmed with life and feels stuck in the rat race.
I think this book has an important place in the self-help genre because although it is nothing new really; it serves as a good reminder and a great cheerleader. I'll be referring to it frequently as I continue to work on developing better exercise and health habits.
If you've never read a self-help book, this one is for you. There are some good ideas here, but many ideas could also be viewed as just adding subtle stress while seemingly helpful. If you want to seize the day, this is the book for you. Kudos for the advocating authenticity and being in the moment.
Thanks very much of the free ARC for review!!
I would have preferred more actual suggestions and ideas and less stories about the author's life and quotes from others. I don't read many self-help books however, and so I might be unaware if this is a trend or style common to them. Also much of the advice seems very vague (power up, take care of yourself) and others seemed superfluous (aren't 'break it down' and 'chip away at change' basically the same advice?)
24 Hours Is All It Takes: Daily Habits Guaranteed to Change Your Life is a book about the power of establishing routines and creating positive habits to enhance your life. It is a pleasant read but it is a bit of a Vulcan mind dump and is very padded out with the authors biography. It is a book more suited to women and will really appeal to anyone who likes a story around the points they are learning. The points are embedded in the stories and often go off on tangents. But the authors writing style is very good and easy to read and it is like having coffee and a chat with a friend.
"24 Hours Is All It Takes" is an encouraging wake-up call for me. Vivian Risi's practical approach of positive routines and habits is inspiring me to make changes in my mornings that influence the rest of my day. Reading this felt like sitting down with a positive and supportive friend.. Highly recommended! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
