I have read all of them so far and I will go without even reading the description onto the next ones.
Kay is a great female detective that I have found reliable and intriguing at the same time. Her ways of solving these cases are really interesting and always made me wonder which ones she will choose next.
This story hits very close to her heart as in comes her ex husband and her old friend. I felt sad for her especially after finding out what happened with her friend and all the reasons that went behind her past relationship but I was glad that she left him and all of that behind.
I had a really strong feeling that something isn’t adding up as much as i would have like it to be when it came to her investigation. Why would he turn up at that particular time and only asked for her to help him out after not crossing pathways for almost a decade.
The ending and the way the story moved surprised me in the best way.
You don’t have to read any of the previous books, it can be easily read as a standalone.
I would totally recommend this book to any thrillers fans. It’s suspenseful, fast paced and full of unpredictable twists.
A young female jogger goes missing, her jogging watch shows exactly where she “fell” – a search finds her dead. At the same time Detective Kay Sharpe is called in to the office as a murder suspect is turning himself in and only wants to talk to her, and all of a sudden her past catches up with her. The suspect is her ex-husband and the murder victim her college best friend. He claims he is innocent; can Kay stay impartial?
Another fast pace installment, great story line and plot! Looking forward to many more.
Lots of twists and turns in this faith addition to the Kay Sharp series, with Kay and Elliot both working separate cases, which involves Kay dealing with her ex Brian. Another well written story that I couldn’t put down, I would recommend reading anything from this author.
I love a book with strong, capable female protagonists, and Kay Sharp who a female detective fits that role perfectly!
Kay's narcissistic ex husband who is a cop shows up at her precinct begging her for help because he's been arrested for his fiancées murder! Not only his fiancée, she was Kay's former best friend who he cheated on Kay with, so very close to home!
When they realise that his 8 year old daughter Holly is missing too time is of the essence!
Kay was such an awesome character and her partner Elliot ( hopefully, truly more than just at work, if she gives him a proper chance) was a genuinely nice Texan guy. Holly's storyline was definitely tension inducing because she's a child and as a mother her story scared me, but Holly was a brave little girl who showed strength and incredible smarts.
This was a tense, gripping and fast paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat for the duration of reading it.
This is book 5 in the Kay Sharp series, while you don't miss any storyline I always
say to get to know the characters properly- read the rest! And I have to listen to my own advice and catch up!
Thank you netgalley and bookouture for the arc copy in exchange for my honest opinions and thank you bookouture for having me on the blog tour.
This is the 5th book of this series and they just get better and better. This story had Kay and Elliott working 2 separate cases. Kay's involved her ex husband Brian. Let me say this, HATED Brian. Oh my this guy is a classic jerk. I did not want to put this down. Great read and I look forward to more of Kay and Elliott.
Detective Kay Sharp is back and reluctantly reunited with her ex-husband Brian. Who's been accused of murder and wants Kay to help clear his name.
Only it's not that simple. As the woman he's accused of killing is Kay's ex-best friend Rachel and Brian's current fiancée and Kay doesn't know if she can trust a word out of his mouth.
And things get even worse. When Kay finally learns the truth about Rachel's life, her death and her daughter Holly.
But determined to get answers for Rachel's mum Ciara. Kay puts everything on the line, including her relationship with her partner Elliott. Who has his own investigation to contend with, when a nineteen-year-old girl is reported missing and later found shot and killed at Frozen Falls.
Yet Elliotts investigation soon leads him back to Kay.
And with plenty of twists, shocks and surprises. This was another cracking addition to the Detective Kay Sharp series, and I would definitely recommend it to crime fiction fans everywhere.
Detective Kay Sharp book 5
When a young woman is reported missing Kay and her partner Elliot race to the scene where her watch went offline. Finding blood at the scene they fear the worst.
Then Kay is called back to the precinct - urgently.
When she gets there her blood runs cold. She comes face to face with someone she hoped never to see again. Her ex-husband.
He has been accused of Murder and wants Kay to clear his name. She knows he is a lying cheat but murder? No. Not possible. Or is it?
I loved this book and was hooked from start to finish.
This is a very fast paced thriller and well plotted, in the Kay Sharp series. When Kay's ex husband, Brian, is accused of murder, she is drawn into the investigation. I liked the developing characterisation and there was plenty of suspense as well as action. Throw in the hint of romance with Elliot, Kay's partner, and it's a winner for the author. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
I read this one straight through. I could not put it down! Kay faces her past in a twisted case that reveals much about her past and adds so much depth to her character. And then there is Elliot. Swoon! I figured out the villain pretty early but it didn't take away from the story. It's packed with action and suspense. I found myself yelling at the characters. I was so engrossed and invested in the story. I can't wait to see where things go next.
Two cases, one in Mt. Chester and the other in Kay’s old stomping grounds, San Francisco, are intricately linked. Once again, Wolfe grabbed me with the first sentence and I was all in. Elliott works the Mt. Chester case while Kay is in SF. I melted with Elliott, as usual. With each book I become more taken with the transplanted Texan. His regard and affection for Kay is evident and makes me admire him even more.
Kay’s lower than slug bait, ex, Brian, is front and center. He’s accused of killing his fiancé and their daughter is missing so of course he shows up, looking for aid from Kay, although he betrayed her years ago.
I enjoyed the action and trying to figure out the case while swooning over Elliot and his Stetson.
Much more of Kay’s history is revealed and makes her very personable. Who hasn’t been duped by someone they’ve loved?
Have I mentioned how fine Elliot is??
I love this series and each book just gets me more involved in Kay’s life. As long as it includes more Elliot, I’m all in!
Talk about twists and turns!
Missing Girl at Frozen Falls is the fifth book in the Detective Kay Sharp series. Though this can be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the complete series. There is so much backstory to Detective Kay Sharp that will help you understand her better as you read each book.
Detective Kay Sharp has her hands full when her narcissistic, controlling ex-husband shows up saying he is accused of murder. While she begins her investigation into this, another murder has occurred in her town with a jogger being killed.. Good thing her partner/friend, Elliot, takes on the investigation into this murder.
Where are these cases taking Kay and Elliot?
What a suspenseful, intriguing, action packed police procedural!
Highly recommended series!
Highly recommended author!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and author, Leslie Wolfe, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Whew! Now my heart rate can settle back to a normal rhythm! This book was quite a rat race that will leave you breathless and stunned. Leslie Wolfe's latest book in her Detective Kay Sharp series is a slick rocket paced mystery/police procedural. Detective Kay Sharp and her partner, Elliott, have received a call for assistance to search for a missing girl in their small town. Kay's narcissistic ex-husband, Brian, shows up pleading for her help. He has been accused of killing his bride-to-be. Although Kay despises him, she does not believe he could possibly be guilty of murder. She agrees to transport him back to San Francisco to allow him to turn himself in with her as his police escort. Brian believes he is being set up by some rogue cops in his division at the San Francisco PD. So, they go on a road trip. She finally realizes that his wife to be is none other than her former best friend and maid of honor at her wedding to Brian. Shock, hurt and anger are just the beginning of the emotions that Kay experiences when she learns this news. Meanwhile Elliott stays behind to work on their local case, which is now no longer a missing person case. The young woman's body has been found, and she has been brutally murdered.
Brian's case gets more exciting when Kay learns that Rachel and Brian had a little girl, Holly. Brian tells Kay that Holly is with her grandmother. When Kay visits the grandmother, she learns that Holly is missing, and has been missing for more than six days. This lights a fire under Kay once she realizes a young child's life is at stake. She can put aside her distaste for Brian in order to search for his little girl.
The characters in this book and this series are dynamic and engaging. Kay is a fearless woman who will protect those she cares about and the helpless with her very life. She is a hero in every way. I just love Elliott and his gushy love for Kay. He is also a wonderful protector. Now Brian is another matter all together. I wanted to slap him! Narcissism is just one of his horrible traits. Little Holly was my favorite supporting character. This little girl had a strength to survive that most grown women could not measure up to, but you could also feel her pain and helplessness coming off of the pages.
I raced through this book in one afternoon. When I closed the final page, I sat there with my mouth wide open wondering what just happened! This might be my favorite book in this series. Intrigue, suspense, action, police corruption and gangs are just a few things that make this police procedural a must read for those who like to live on the edge! Get ready for the roller coaster ride of your life!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a hard review to do because no matter what I write it won't due this book justice. It is so good! Kay's Ex husband is accused of murdering Rachel and asks Kay's help to find the real killer . Is he being set up? Or is did he really kill her? Elliot is also on the hunt for a missing girl. There are two storylines and both keep you guessing!! Loved this book and highly recommend this whole series!!!!
This was such a gripping thriller that kept me awake all night, trying to finish the book!
The story starts with Kay, whose ex-husband Brian suddenly wants her help--Brian's fiancee and also Kay's best friend Rachel was brutally shot to death and their daughter Holly is missing. Brian has become the main suspect in Rache's murder. Even though Kay didn't really want to help, she helps him nonetheless and realizes that Rachel was in a witness protection program after she witnessed a murder of one of the gang members. Meanwhile, a body of a girl was found dead and Kay's partner Elliot was called to the scene to investigate the murder.
This book was completely mind blowing and I was literally hooked from the first chapter till the end, wanting to know what is going to happen next! Out of all the Kay Sharp series, I have to say that this book is one of the best book in the series and I couldn't even put the book down. As usual, the author has done a good job of drawing the reader into the story and make the reader feel like they are in a cat and mouse chase game with Kay and keeping the reader literally at the edge of the seat! The ending wasn't expected and I do like some twists and turns that were thrown along the way.
If you haven't read the Kay Sharp series then it's fine--this book is fast paced unputdownable thriller that will keep you awake all night. Worth complete full five stars!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Wow! What a read! Such an amazing story! It was impossible to put the book down. The book hooked me from the very beginning. My jaw dropped at the end. I don't think it still has found its way back to where it belongs. I have to say that writing a good ending is such a challenge, and quite often an otherwise great book has a meh ending. Not this time! The ending was absolutely perfect! Full points!
The whole book was great, but when I thought it had a decent ending, and that was it, Leslie Wolfe totally surprised me. It is a magnificent read all in all, and I love this book. I have really grown to like Kay, and this time the reader gets to find out about her past, and what can I say? What a horrible and hopeless man, also a policeman, she used to be married to. He is seeking her help, because he is the main suspect in the murder of his wife-to-be.
Fantastic plot, exceptional writing, astonishing flow, and breathtaking ending!
Sharp and sleek this Detective Kay Sharp novel is the best yet more about her back story. Kay's ex turns up accused of murder. Great characters, plotting and pacing, roll on the next book.
I received this book from Bookouture and Netgalley for a review.
This is another great one in the series by Leslie Wolfe! Detective Kay Sharp gets a surprise when her ex-husband arrives, accused of murder.
As usual this was fast paced, lots of moving parts especially because Kay and partner Elliot are working separate cases. I did miss them bouncing ideas off of each other and playing to their strengths, but it was a needed change of pace in this case. I think this installment is the series really shows a lot of what Kay has been through and I’m really curious how she comes to terms with it all with Elliot. I could see the resolution of the mystery detective work coming, but for me it didn’t take away from the story. I will make sure I read the next one in the series! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.
Book #5 in the Detective Kay Sharp series and it’s a doozy! Love this series and the budding relationship between Kay and Elliot.
In this book Kay is shocked to find her ex has arrived at the station. Lots of Kay backstory in this one as we learn about her relationship with her ex and her past BFF who Kay’s ex is charged with murdering. Will she put her own career on the line while she sets out to find the truth?
Would love to see more in this series.
This is the fifth book in the Detective Kay Sharp series by Leslie Wolfe. Kay is at a crime scene with her partner Elliot where they find a young girl who has been shot, when her ex-husband gets in touch with her that he is being accused of murder. The victim is his fiancé and Kay’s ex best friend and he asking Kay to help prove his innocence. This was a fast paced thriller with quite a few twists that I enjoyed. Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this Arc.
Missing Girl at Frozen Falls (Detective Kay Sharp Book 5) by Leslie Wolfe see Detective Kay Sharp come face-to-face with the past she has spent the last decade running from. Her ex-husband, Brian, has been accused of murder.
This book was so good! It was described as a "totally addictive and heart-pounding crime thriller full of twists," and it did not disappoint. The cover was quite cool as well.
You know you are reading a good book when you have to walk away from it a few times because the characters' emotions get to you. Such a well-written book that captures the scenes' emotional intensity and action. There were times I just cried at what was happening to characters; now that's good writing.
I would definitely like to see Detective Kay Sharp and her partner, Elliot Young, return in another story and fast!! I really liked the writing and the storyline. The ending with Holly was a bit abrupt. I also wish we had more information about the outcome of Ciara. But the culprit was jaw-dropping, and the storyline's plot and twists kept me on my toes. I really enjoyed reading and being immersed in the setting. The story had solid characters.
I look forward to more Kay and Elliot books. I would highly recommend this book, this series, and this author.
