As a painter, still lifes are not my favourite subjects, but if exists a book that makes me want to paint them then this is the right one. Beautiful energetic brushwork, full of life - if you can say so of a "natura morta" (still life). Studio setup and materials, how to find your subject, planning, composition, values, thumbnail sketches, there is all the necessary without superfluous. Step-by-step exercises. Richly illustrated, well explained. Absolutely wonderful.

I love photography and have a group of patrons who do as well. I requested this because I and a couple of the group, would love to learn about still life especially composition. This was a lovely aid in learning just that. I can't wait to get a copy of this for my group. Thank you

Dynamic Still Life for Artists is an instructional guide aimed at helping artists develop the observational and placement design skills required for successful still life art. There are some step by step instructions but there are probably not enough detailed steps to make this book suitable for absolute beginners. A lot of observational skills are taught from grouping, selection, abstract shapes and colour. There are lots of examples from established artists and plenty of inspiring ideas for creating your own works of art. Overall a colourful and interesting book.
