This is a great resource for anyone looking for self improvement. The author offers ways to embrace your differentness, get outside your comfort zones, and dare to fail in order to succeed. His insights are based on his experience as an entrepreneur and business leader, and he shares his stories and lessons in a way that is both engaging and practical.
This book has truly engrossed me in a remarkable way, evoking a sense of discomfort that I strangely find enriching. The author love for learning from mistakes resonates deeply with me, as I too believe that embracing our errors can be a crucial pathway to growth and success. At times, this approach has caused me considerable pain, making me question whether achievement is possible without stumbling along the way. However, the author convincingly emphasizes the significance of making mistakes as a means to attain success.
Reading this book has provided me with a much-needed validation. It serves as a powerful encouragement that being unconventional and learning from our unique experiences is not only acceptable but essential for personal development. It urges us to embrace our idiosyncrasies and utilize our fears as a driving force for intentional action.
Among the wealth of wisdom in this book, quote that stands out as my favorite are:
1. Every time you face a tough decision, you should have no less than 40 percent and no more than 70 percent of the information you need to make decision.
2. Just remember to fail fast and fail forward.
3. Using better judgment, I responded, “Yes, sir!” And walked away, determined to never lead that way.
In conclusion, this book is a compelling journey that not only celebrates the importance of embracing our mistakes but also emphasizes the beauty of being different. It has left an indelible mark on me, and I believe it will resonate with anyone seeking inspiration and validation in their pursuit of personal growth and success.
DISRUPTABLE by Allan Young is that rarest of books: authoritative and actionable, written by a person who is temperamentally attuned to asking the tough questions, going after impossible things, and accomplishing them. I enjoyed the clear, forthright language and the stories that demonstrate Young's exceptional abilities. I enjoyed having my own ideas upended and learning a different approach to facing challenges. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.
"When you intentionally put yourself in uncomfortable situations, your brain begins to get used to the feeling and learns to deal with it. Learning to get comfortable being uncomfortable definitely comes in handy when facing other fears, especially ones that don’t involve a physical threat."
Not so much as I expected before but it's a great and powerful read. The idea was intriguing and I love how easy the language used in this book is. There are so many lines I need to highlight since most of the points are important to me. I learned a lot from this book and am just so glad I read it!! Even though I'm not dreaming to be a leader but some parts that talked about leadership has made my mind open.
Thank you to the author, Allan Young, the publisher, and netgalley for this free copy.
This book is really short but it’s really worth it! It’s a go to one whenever we would need a good dose of accessible motivation.
Some very basic truths are given here which we always tend to ignore and forget when it comes to personal growth and leadership.
It may seem like we know what’s best for us but we tend to neglect what’s best for us. Just read this book once and you will realise you are going to go through this book again and again until you find yourself confident enough to be who you want to become.
I find the writing quite thought provoking and action oriented which I feel is necessary for such books.
Moreover, it’s short and doesn’t waste words.
Thank you, Advantage Media Group, for the advance reading copy.
