What an excellent second book for a series! I really loved the pacing of the story and the new characters thrown into the mix. Sometimes main characters from previous books taking a back seat can feel like a bad thing but the spotlight falling onto Ruby, Kai, Valla and Sozi was perfect.

My favourite parts of this book are absolutely the lore and world-building. The author has brought a unique world to life that’s full of creatures and magic that feels fresh within the genre.

This was a fun middle-grade book set in an interesting world. I love world building, it really was a well-thought-out environment. This is a good one to give to kids to get them interested in books.
