Lucy Score is one of my favourite small town spicy authors and Things We Hide from the Light was no exception. I quickly fell in love with these characters, and Knock em Out ? Can I move there? Well written and wildly immersive. Yes it is long, but worth every word so that we can stay in this world longer. Can I move there? Cannot WAIT for book three.

A great second book in the Knockemout world. It was nice to revisit the characters and find out about Nash’s storyline. Can’t wait for more!

Lucy Score brings us back to Knockemout in what takes place in the aftermath of the shooting that has now left Nash Morgan with fears, anxiety, and nightmares something that he refused to admit to anyone. So when Lina moves in next door inconspicuously to Nash but in reality, Lina has her own motives for moving to the small town. Nash is taken to her immediately, and their connection is impossible to deny, but as the stakes of their relationship - and the town’s safety - grow higher, will they be able to trust their hearts and each other?

I loved this book so much. It’s such a beautiful story and I can’t wait for the next one! I loved how the story flowed and the chemistry between the characters

I love Lucy Score's writing. I love Nash and Lina.

I am a sucker for a badass hero and a tough cop who doesn't want anyone to know his weakness, is the perfect badass.

A woman who wants no-strings sex is someone so different from me and I love to explore what it would be like to be that kind of person.

Two people who have incredible chemistry and fall for each other--that is what Lucy Score is known for!!

I loved this one!!

After reading TWNGO, I was really looking forward to Nash's story. This did not hit the mark for me though.
I felt like I didn't know either MC and I was left wanting more from their relationship.
I'm still super excited for Lucien's story and I think that Lucy will get that one perfect for us!

A pretty good sequel to her first of this series. It was a good continuation though I did like the first book better. Great representation of men having emotions. Pretty good book!

Obsessed!!! This one might just be my newest favorite Knockemout book. With literally everything we loved from the first one and even more to love added in.

TWHFTL has been one of my most anticipated releases since I read an arc of TWNGO before its release. The anticipation for Nash’s book was REAL I just knew he was going to be everything I ever wanted. And on that front he 1000% delivered.

I will say although I ultimately ended up loving and literally crying tears of joy by the end of TWHFTL- it was a slow start for me. Given the context of Nash’s ordeal in TWNGO it is to be expected and I think Lucy did an amazing job in touching on Nash’s trauma and struggle to remember but- and this is the part that made it slow for me- it set up the romance to be one of instalust/instalove (which I loathe 🙃) but I thought ‘hey if anyone can do it justice it’s Lucy Score’ so I pushed through and I’m so glad I did!! By about the 50% mark Nash and Lina’s book ended up being EVERYTHING! I fell so hard for them.

All in all, I had a fantastic time being back in Knockemout with the crew and can’t wait for the next installment in this amazing series 🥰

Being back in Knockemout and reading about everyone again was also a major plus for me, the same ease and joy the surrounding characters brought in TWNGO was also present here and I loved it 🥰 the little crumbs setting up Sloane and Lucien’s books were also a MAJOR love of mine- I cannot wait for their book!!! 🥹🔥

All in all, I had a fantastic time being back in Knockemout with the crew and can’t wait for the next installment in this amazing series 🥰

3.75🌟 things we hide from the light is the follow up to things we never got over, following nash in the aftermath of events from the previous book, where he was shot. he is struggling with his mental health and shying away from the people closest to him, until lina moves in next door and flips his world upside down. lina has secrets of her own and no desire to stick around longer than necessary, but the town tends to get its claws in people.

this one was good, but i definitely liked book one better. i felt like we could’ve gotten the same result with a shorter book, as this one is almost 600 pages. the slow burn was…slow, even though their desire for each other felt almost instantaneous (at least on nash’s end) and there was a lot of time with them apart. that being said, there is something about lucy score’s writing that makes me never want to put down the book. it’s a little cheesy, yes, but it’s fast-paced and i always enjoy the romantic suspense element of this series. the teases of lucian and sloane drove me crazy and kind of stole the show, so i cannot wait for the next book!

This was my first Lucy score book so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was surprisingly good! It took awhile to get through but I suspect that was me not the pacing. I can’t wait for Lucian’s book.

Continuing after the events of Things We Never Got Over, Things We Hide from the Light focuses on Knox’s brother, police chief Nash Morgan, and Knox’s friend Lina (whom we briefly meet at the end of book one). Even though Nash is physically healing from his gunshot wounds, he is secretly suffering from PTSD in the form of panic attacks, depression, memory loss, and nightmares. Additionally, Nash is frustrated that Duncan Hugo (the man who kidnapped Naomi and Waylay) is still in the wind. Despite trying to close himself off to everyone, Nash has trouble shutting out his temporary new neighbour Lina; a thrill-seeking insurance worker who’s keeping some dangerous secrets. Even though Nash is looking to settle down and Lina doesn’t do serious relationships, Nash and Lina can’t deny their spicy chemistry and instant connection. As Knox and Naomi’s wedding approaches, trouble in the form of Duncan Hugo resurfaces, threatening Nash and Lina’s chance at a happily ever after.

Firstly, you need to read Things We Never Got Over before picking up this as the main action continues on into this book. Things We Hide from the Light is a contemporary, forced proximity romance with mystery and thriller elements told from a dual point of view. I would recommend this to fans of the Chestnut Springs series by Elsie Silver, Something Wilder by Christina Lauren, Scandalized by Ivy Owens, the Dreamland Billionaires series by Lauren Asher, the Twisted series by Ana Huang, My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey, and, of course, Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score. This deals with themes and topics such as mental health and PTSD, identity, right versus wrong, appearance versus reality, family and parenthood, memory, trust, secrecy and lies, loneliness and isolation, companionship, and darkness versus light. Trigger warnings include kidnapping, addiction, gun violence, and heart conditions. In my opinion, the moral of TWHFTL is that it’s better to seek help and live in the light than it is to suffer in silence and hide in the darkness; “I just wish I woulda kept trying to look to the light instead of sinking into the dark…A man can learn to live in that dark, but it’s no life”.

Firstly, I love the gorgeous cover art, especially the significance of the lily of the valley flowers. Even though this book focuses on Nash and Lina, the main characters from book one , including Knox, Naomi, and Waylay, are still very much present throughout. Since I was already familiar with the conflict, setting, and characters in Knockemout, this ended up being a real page turner for me and I was hooked from the very beginning! Additionally, I definitely had trouble putting down this book towards the end as the last few chapters were suspenseful and action-packed. I thought that this was very unique; not only did it have a spicy, slow burn romance, it also had a suspenseful mystery storyline that kept me guessing. I loved how Nash and Lina initially bonded over rescuing and caring for a sweet pup named Piper as I thought that these moments were very cute and swoon worthy. For those, like me, who are patiently waiting for Lucian’s book, you’ll be pleased to know that Score teases Lucian’s story in TWHFTL (perhaps Lucian’s story will be the focus of book 3, Things We Left Behind, which is expected in September 2023)!

There really wasn’t much that I didn’t like about this book. The only real downside for me was that the book was on the thicker side, so it was a tad daunting to start.

Overall, I can honestly say that I enjoyed Things We Hide from the Light just as much as I enjoyed Things We Never Got Over! If you like suspense, mystery, and spicy romances, then you should definitely check-out the Knockemout series.

I really like this series and love that the author writes flawed vulnerable characters who take time to open their heart to others. The whole series builds on each other by further developing the backstory of each character and the town of Knockemout itself. I love that we still get to be part of Knox, Naomi, & Waylay's journey as well The whole story is action packed, touching, and has a humorous element. I can't wait for Lucian and Sloan's book!

Another sweet and spicy read from Lucy Score. Score has a way of constructing characters that makes me (not usually a reader of romance) invested in the story. Here readers get to revisit characters from the first book in the series, as well as be introduced to new ones. This book packs in emotional discovery, conflict, and a happy ending.

4.5 stars!
We are back with the Knockemout crew! I have to start this off by saying I was so excited and nervous for this book, both for the same reason. Things We Never Got Over is one of my favorite books of all time so while I was excited to get more from this world, I was also nervous if it would live up to TWNGO. Happy to report that I loved this book. Did I love it as much as the first one? No, but I anticipated that going in. I must say that I was not expecting to love Nash and Lina as much as I did! She's definitely a fire cracker, bad ass heroine and he is the good guy Chief of Police. Lina is an independent woman letting the wind take her where it may and Nash is thinking of a wife and family. So naturally these two are all wrong for each other, which made it so right. Watching Nash getting flustered by Lina's teasing was gold. The banter was perfection, and him in the bedroom? Yes, sir. I will say Nash in this book is definitely different than book 1 Nash. He really struggles with PTSD from getting shot in TWNGO and it broke my heart seeing him so lost. Lina was the light that pulled him out.

I was so so happy by the amount of family time we got throughout the book. We got to see the rest of the characters so much and it was exactly what my heart needed. The scene at the soccer game? I was legitimately loling. And I cannot even describe how excited I am to get Lucian and Sloane's book in my hands. I NEED IT. The bonus epilogue has my heart racing.

Overall, I really loved Nash and Lina's story. They balanced each other out perfectly. You know what they say about opposites. If you loved TWNGO, you'll definitely want to check this one out. It felt like a family reunion + a combustible love story between the girl who can't be tied down and the good guy who worships her.

*This book was given to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review*

I liked it, but didn't love it, to be fair. For a romance, I really wanted more of a believable connection. Hoping that Lucian's story is everything I've hyped up in my brain!

Lucy Score can do no wrong in my eyes. This sequel was just as good as book one. I'm sad its already over I LOVED the length in these two books and I already can't wait for the third book to come out! I feel between one and two though I loved book one more so. This book is entertaining from page one to the very last sentence.

I didn't think I could possibly adore the second installment of the Knockemout series as much as I did the first one, but Lucy Score proved me wrong. I fell head over heels for Nash in the first book, and being able to dive more deeply into his life was such a treat. Those Morgan men...what can I say? They are sexy as hell, but more importantly there's an underlying sensitivity and vulnerability about them that is SO endearing. Nash is a true hero, and his evolving relationship with Lina was wonderful to read. There are many layers to them individually and as a couple, and as each one was revealed it just made me love them both even more. Lina is a kick ass heroine you can't help but admire. Like I said in my review of the first book, I love every single character in the Knockemout series, from Justice to Liza J. to Waylon and everyone else in between. Lucy Score has done such an amazing job bringing these characters to life in these books, and I will truly miss them when the series is finished. Speaking of...I.CAN'T.WAIT to read Lucien's story! Oh my gosh! Can September hurry up and get here?

Lucy Score has worked her small-town magic again! This book was swoon-worthy, emotional, angsty, suspenseful and oh so good. I appreciated the vulnerability of Nash and Lina throughout the book. They were both working through some serious emotions that I thought was handled really well. I wasn’t a big fan of some of the subplots, but overall I really enjoyed it. I can not wait for Lucian and Sloane's story!

I enjoyed reading this book as it was a continuation of the first. Having the same characters keep going with the storyline is always something that appeals to me and I can’t wait for the third book because of that. I will say that the R-rated parts were a bit much for me this time. Easily something that can be skipped over though!
