ADORED. I love Knockemout & all of it's quirky residents! I looooved book 2 and cannot wait for book 3!!! Knox & Daize might still be my favorite but Nash was great too. Highly recommend to romance fans.

This is another emotional book in the Knockemout series that will tug at your heartstrings. The book revolves around the story of Nash and Lina, two characters struggling with their secrets and fears but finding solace and love in each other's arms. Lucy Score has done an excellent job of creating well-developed characters who are relatable and authentic. The chemistry between Nash and Lina is palpable, and their emotional journey is heartwarming. The story kept me engaged throughout the book. It is a must-read for fans of the genre and anyone looking for a beautifully written love story with relatable characters and an emotional depth that will leave you wanting more.

Things We Hide from the Light is a good read BUT it would not fit into with our library patrons. Our patrons, for the most part, are older females who prefer not to read books with sexual language and there is quite a bit in this book. Other than than that it was an enjoyable book.

Nash and Lina’s story was pretty good and had a perfect slow burn, but it wasn’t for me. it was way too insta-love and lust-driven, I didn’t need to constantly read how horny they would get whenever they were around each other. I liked nash and Lina’s characters more in the previous book honestly. this book was way too long, you could feel it dragging out.

I fell in love in this town in book one, and was so glad to hear we were getting more of it. Knox and Naomi are still my fave, and I’m dying for Lucian and Sloane’s story, but I enjoyed seeing all the people we met again as we watched Lina and Nash get it all together and figure out the who-done-it mystery.

I love Knockemout and the found family that these characters have created. After reading Knox and Naomi's story in the fall, I have been counting the minutes for Nash's love story. His character showed so much growth and heart through the book that he quickly became just hero we wanted and that he wanted to be. I love how Score puts so much character development across all 6 friends in her writing. It amazes me how much humor and love and whole heart you get in her books. I am already plotting how I can pester my friends at Bloom for Lucien and Sloane's story.

Things We Hide from the Light wrapped me in its clutches from the first page and did not let go until the last. I knew I was going to love Nash since TWNGO but exceeded expectations. Nash and Lina felt left old friends from their first chapter and I loved every moment of their story.

TWHFTL is filled with Lucy Score's trademark humor and perfectly blended with romance, some of the sweetest moments, and a bit of mystery and crime-solving. Every single one of the characters in these books is so easy to fall in love with. Nash and Lina's love story is tender and scorching hot all rolled into one. For as long as this book was, it never felt like it dragged for me.

Oh and I cannot wait for Sloana and Lucian's story because I know it is going to be explosive and HOT!!!!

4.5/5 stars

Omg! I didn’t think I could love Nash more then I already did. His hidden struggles after the events that transpired. Nash trying to find his way back to his old self. What can I say about Lina except that I would love to be her.

Didn’t think I would love this book as much as the first but I think it surpassed It!

This book is the second in a series about Knockemout. This story centers around the Chief of Police, Nash and the college friend of his brother, Lina. I really do suggest reading the series in order so you can learn about all the characters from the start and their relationships. Fun quick read. I really enjoyed the characters. Hoping for a third one about Sloan the librarian and Lucian the brother’s life long friend. Thanks for another fun story Lucy Score! Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy. #NetGalley #ThingsWe HideFromtheLight

I loved Things We Never Got Over, so the second book in the Knockemout series was a highly anticipated read for me!

Things We Hide From the Light follows Nash, Knox's brother, and Lina, Knox's best friend. This book gave everything the first book gave: many moments that made me laugh out loud, suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat, great character development, and a slow-burn romance that I couldn’t help but root for! I loved all the moments with Naomi, Knox, and Waylay and this book made me SO excited for Things We Left Behind with the glimpses we got of Sloane and Lucian, I already have a feeling that their book is going to be my favourite in this series!

While I didn’t love this book as much as the first book, I still really enjoyed it! I just think it could’ve been shorter as it dragged on at points.

Thank you Bloom Books for the ARC!

This book was just as frustrating as the first one. No, it was more frustrating because in the first, pages were filled with getting to know the new characters and the town. In this one, we already have the set-up so there is no reason for this book to be song long. It's filled with events happening and then repeated to different characters so you have to read about it twice. Also, there is so much dialogue between main characters and all the side characters that it’s hard to follow. Editing would have really helped for this one. And, it's full of cliché moments like uber-macho males trying to protect the females in an infuriating way and (spoiler?) Nash tells the Lina to leave because he realizes that he loves her too much and can’t lose her. A lot of readers are more excited for Lucian and Sloane's story anyway so this is one you can skip.

Things We Hide From The Light was easily one of my most highly anticipated reads in 2023 and I’m happy to say that it did not disappoint. This book was non-stop entertainment and I just fell even more with Knockemout with every turn of the page.

I absolutely adore Lina - she’s an absolute badass with some serious commitment issues, but she also has a heart of gold that she’s kept tucked away in fear of disappointment. Watching her try to resist Nash and his irresistible good ole boy charm was so freaking entertaining that I was either laughing or squeezing my thighs together. Their back and forth banter, the tension as they tried to resist the urge to give in to their feelings…I was ready to spontaneously combust.

Aside from Nash and Lina, I loved the moments where we got to see the rest of the Knockemout clan. Seeing Knox fawn over Naomi and Waylay made me fall for him all over again and the tension between Sloane and Lucien? I have no doubt their story is going to set my body on fire.

I enjoyed our return to Knockemout for Nash and Lina’s story. In typical Lucy Score fashion, she brings us a small town romance with all the feels and a great female lead. I had looked forward to this book and was not disappointed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I wasn’t sure Lucy could top TWNGO. It was my favorite. But not only did she nail it, she made it even better than TWNGO. I’m ecstatic for the third one! So excited! Yes!!!

This romance needs a good edit. The story moves, but slowly because the main characters go on and on about their issues way to long.

This is the second installment in the Knockemout series. It centers around Nash, who is Knox's brother and the chief of police for Knockemout. He was shot in the previous book and this one picks up in the aftermath of that shooting and the fallout, emotionally, psychologically, and physically for Nash. Lucy Score does a good job of fleshing out the PTSD for Nash and creates sympathy in the reader for his plight.
Lina, the love interest, was introduced to us in the last book as a college friend of Knox's. She's in town and these two ignite despite having to work through some past issues. The character development for both was paced just right and the chemistry was spot on.
And of course, it was heart warming to revisit with the previous characters who add charm to the whole story.

Another well-written and page-turning novel from Lucy Score that her fans will devour. The chemistry between the main characters helps the reader get lost in the story.

The second book in the Knockemout series, Things We Hide From The Light had a lot to live up to after the phenomenal book that was Things We Never Got Over. I thought it was a wild ride full of all the things we have come to love from a Lucy Score book and I really had a fun time reading about Nash and Lina!

The banter between Nash and Lina was great and they have me both laughing and giggling to myself so many times throughout the book. While there were many laughs yes, this book also has so much heart. There was so many tender sweet moments between the characters that were some of my favorite scenes. Of course, the spicy moments were amazing as well, Lucy Score always delivers on this front!

The only aspect of this story that I was not exactly fond of was Nash being a cop, I just felt like it was a bit uncomfortable, it did make it harder to enjoy the book but I did still love Nash as a character. I just did not like this one part of his story.

As a huge fan of the first book, it was so special to see the glimpses of Knox and Naomi's life together, I loved this so much and it was probably my favorite part. It was just so sweet and special to get this piece of their story in this book. I cannot wait to read about Sloane and Lucian in the next book!

A follow up to things we never got over was always going to be difficult. Knowing how you’re immediately drawn in to everything about TWNGO, this book for me was a hard start but don’t let that fool you! Easy 4 stars, consistent, and lots of build up for further books here. The main characters Lina and Nash both have things they are trying to hide and truths they don’t want to admit to anyone, even themselves. They both are very troubled and have to work through some shit, but yet are too stubborn to ask for help. I was begggingggg for spice earlier on in this novel but I promise the build up
Is worth it.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC!

Yes. Just yes. This book is all yes!

Readers return to Knockemout for Nash and Lina's story. Nash is broken after being shot. He's a shell of his former self. Always the good boy, he wants a future, family and to do right. Lina has a hidden past. She's not a fan of physical contact, but Nash's is different. It ignites her, but she has never had plans of being there and the secrets she keeps are sure to destroy any relationship she might have with Nash.

At almost 600 pages, this book can seem daunting on the surface; however, it is filled with so much tension, wit, passion, drama and romance that its pages fly by. It pained me to have to return to my life and put the story aside. I found myself sneaking a minute here or there just to progress further in the story even when I didn't really have the time. What impressed me the most was the chemistry between Nash and Lina. Score does such an amazing job of creating that romantic tension. There interactions are organic and definitely steamy. I was fully emotionally involved with these characters. The book is so well written. Everything fits together so nicely. I hugged the book after I finished it simply because I loved it so much. This is definitely ranking up there with my favorite books of 2023. It's one that I loved and I know my patrons will adore. Lucy Score already has a big following among my library romance readers. I know they will be overjoyed to get their hands on the second book in the Knockemout series.
