I really like Lucy Score's writing and characters -- really, I do -- but there's no reason a romance novel should be more than 400 pages, *ever.* I have the same complaint about this book that I had about Score's other books I've read: I really enjoy them, but they're way longer than they need to be.
This is a fairly standard second chance romance book with some spicy scenes. The characters are certainly based on classic romance novel cliches and don't have a great deal of depth. The dark and series man and the slight and delicate woman who find love is pretty standard. There was nothing wrong or problematic with this book, but nothing to make it remarkable either.
This book was everything I've come to expect from Lucy Score - great characters, snappy dialogue, steamy romance. Couldn't ask for anything more!
If Lucy Score writes it, I am going to read it! She has quickly become one of my favorite go-to romance authors.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC.
As a huge fan of everything the incredible Lucy Score writes, this one sure didnt dissapoint. I know this one was a re-release so I'm glad I had the opportunity to rediscover some of Scores previosu work. Boy do I love a good book with a brooding, overprotective MC. One of my favourite parts about every Lucy Score novel is that she has an incredible use of imagery that really immerses the reader into the story and I felt like I was really living in Mackinac Island. Great book for the winter season too.
The writing is beautifully descriptive, immersing the reader in the luxurious corporate world and the emotional turmoil of the characters. The pacing is excellent, with just the right amount of tension, drama, and romance to keep you hooked from start to finish.
This book was gripping, passionate, and exceptionally steamy.
It might just be the most intense work I've encountered from this author so far.
It transitioned from a simmering, gradual build-up, filled with desire, teasing, and heartfelt emotion, to an incredibly sensual and blazing romance.
I will read anything Lucy Score writes, but this one didn't quite do it for me. I think it could have been edited down a bit. All in all I enjoyed it however, and look forward to my next book by the author.
“Forever Never” by Lucy Score is a solid addition to the contemporary romance genre. It features well-drawn characters and a story that keeps you engaged throughout. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, and the small-town backdrop adds a charming element to the plot. Score’s writing strikes a balance between heartfelt and humorous, making it an enjoyable read for fans of romance novels. If you’re in the mood for a satisfying romance, “Forever Never” is worth a look.
This one wasn't my favourite. Definitely has appeal if someone is after a good romantic suspense, but it wasn't my cup of tea. Good second-chance romance vibes and had an interesting plot.
Forever Never was disappointing. The main characters were too "typical"-brooding, overprotective cop vs wild, creative, fragile redhead. The bedroom scenes seemed to be the point of the story more than any plot. It was frustrating how quickly they went from "hating each other" to steamy-their relationship was based on this tension alone...it seemed. This one is just not for me. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.
This is a great book for a reader looking for a lighter version of a Colleen Hoover novel. Not necessarily for the mainstream romance reader, but there's potential for appeal.
This novel is a captivating romance that explores the complexities of relationships, loyalty, and the power of the past. Set in Michigan on the beautiful Mackinac Island, the story follows the intertwined lives of Brick Callan and Remi Ford, who share a complicated history that includes fights, friendship, family, and an attraction that has never died.
The author has crafted a fascinating story of frenemies-to-lovers, packed with slow burn romance, glorious banter, and steamy encounters. The relationship between Brick and Remi is fraught with tension, and their journey towards each other is both heartwarming and thrilling.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the way it tackled the idea of opposites attracting. Brick is a big, grumpy, overprotective hero who is fiercely loyal to those he loves, while Remi is a free-spirited artist who loves to push boundaries and take risks. The chemistry between them is electric, and the author's ability to capture their emotions is truly impressive.
The story is filled with small-town shenanigans, nail-biting suspense, and an incredible sense of longing that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The author's writing is engaging and heartfelt, with characters that feel both relatable and authentic.
Overall, "Forever Never" is a compelling and captivating read that will appeal to anyone looking for a well-written and engaging romance. Lucy Score is a talented writer who has crafted a story that is both emotional and thrilling, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a satisfying and entertaining read.
Lucy Score is a great! This is for anyone who loves frenemies-to-lovers, opposites attract slow burns. There's glorious banter and fighting as foreplay, with small-town shenanigans.
Wow, Forever Never is SPICY! This book was over-the-top steamy and I'm no prude, but I definitely had to swipe past a few pages here and there because the sex scenes became a bit repetitive.
Otherwise, though, the story is fantastic and had some thriller vibes going on toward the end which I enjoyed. An excellent read if you don't mind the steam factor!
I LOVE Lucy’s writing it’s all so pleasing. I fall more in love with her every book I read of hers. I really enjoyed the small town vibes of Mackinac Island. I love Remi and Brick! Remi has always been a wild child and I think maybe that could be why she was my favorite, always getting into trouble. Brick was a huge grump but so loving and protective of her. I enjoyed the past scenes of the book not to heavy but enough to give you a glimpse of back then. I loved this romance and I loved how long of a book it was. 600 pages YES PLEASE!
I really love Lucy Score's writing, but Forever Never just isn't my favourite book of hers. I liked both Brick and Remi and all of the side characters on Mackinac Island, but this one just didn't hook me.
Quick read that fans of the authors other books will enjoy. Nothing too over the top, wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve read but right down the middle of the road. If you’re looking for a rom com feel but with some suspense this is right up your alley.
This book was a 3.5 star for me, once the storyline got going it got interesting, but certain parts just dragged on too long for me.
Remi and Brick have had this will they/won’t they relationship the entire time that they have known each other. When Remi suddenly returns to Mackinac Island injured, Brick does what he does and protects her while trying to learn the truth. These two work together to protect themselves and their loved ones, as well as to put away the bad guy, while working on the dynamics of their newly defined relationship.
This is the first book of Lucy Score’s that I have read, I’ve always wanted to read one of their books, and so this one seemed like a good one to start with. I loved the fact that this book was written in third POV, its one of my favourite POVs to read in and one that I find a little more difficult to come by. The book has the *spice* that you can find in many romance books, although some of these scenes I found a little dragged out and over descriptive for what was going on.
The first half of the book was a little difficult to get through as I found that the situations Remi and Brick consistently found themselves in where the exact same, just in a different setting. The second half of the book did contain multiple sex scenes, where almost every conversation that Remi and Brick have leads to yet another one. But once you move past the first half, and get through the sex scenes of the second half, you can finally get into the nitty gritty of the book. Once you finally get into the finer details and are able to progress through the storyline, I didn’t want to put the book down and just wanted to uncover the secret that Remi has been keeping.
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review,
I really enjoyed this book! It's a romance but has a bit of thriller to it. It's SPICY! The characters are lovable and I loved the suspense. Highly recommended!
