Thank you to NetGalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The only way to describe this book is NSFW...but really, NSF public consumption, better read in the privacy of your home. This had me blushing because I was afraid my seatmate on the plane would glance over. The love story between Brick and Remi overshadows the B story about a mysterious predicament Remi has gotten herself into prior to returning to her hometown. Both are a slow burn but once it heats up, you can't help but race until the end.
This is the first book I have read by Lucy Score.
Let me just say I'm glad I picked her up!
The main characters were Remington and William (known hereafter as "Brick") There is an age gap (8 years) that didn't make me uncomfortable.
The Spice was off the charts, but the plot was also 10/10. There seems to be a resurgence of romance novels with a high spice level and also a fantastic plot and I am so here for it.
Brick and Remi are like gasoline and a match. They have been fighting since Remi was in high school and Brick had just moved to Mackinac Island at 24 years old with his younger brother to live with their grandparents. However, there is more to the fighting than meets the eye. When Remi shows back up on the island after having lived in Chicago for several years, Brick knows there is more to the story of her return than she is telling. An undeniable attraction between the two shows back up with a vengeance. Will Remi tell Brick what she is running from and let him help her? Will she run into his arms in the process and will he let her?
I have been on a huge Lucy Score kick. Her books are romantic, but with a lot of spice and an actual story line. This one is no exception. I remained totally invested with Brick and Remi and wanted everything to work out for them. It’s a long book, but worth the investment of time to follow this love story!
Thank you to #netgalley and #lucyscore for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest feedback!
Forever Never
3 stars
Remington Ford returns to her home in the dead of winter under mysterious conditions. She rarely visits Mackinac Island, an island off of Michigan that thrives off of summer business. Her family doesn't need to know that she just found herself in deep trouble with a powerful person and neither does Brick Callan, her teenage crush that she never quite got over. What both Brick and Remi don't know is that they still have feelings for each other. They are complete opposites. Remi is a successful artist and Brick a no nonsense, rugged police officer. Brick is determined to find out what happened in the city that Remi is trying to hide.
Things I loved about this book:
I loved the artistic element of Forever Never. It needs a playlist with Remi's songs. I loved the slow burn between Brick and Remi. A lot goes on in their heads and I was here for all the angst. The cover of this novel is beautiful and it drew me in! I have wanted to read a book by Lucy Score so here was the perfect chance, it is set during the winter on a remote island. Love it!
Things I didn't love about this book:
It was about 200 pages too long. I found some of it hard to believe and I didn't always like Remi's personality. But that just could be me!
*This book was given to me by NetGalley in return for an honest review*
I enjoy second chance, friends-to-lovers troupes but that's not exactly what I got. I think I would have loved this more if we left out the suspense and the best friend drama. This author is hit-or-miss for me, so hopefully, the next one is a hit.
I am definitely a fan of Lucy Score! Each book I read from her is highly enjoyable and well plotted. This is another one! I am going to have to heck but if there are more stories regarding this town, I am all in.
This book has all the feels! Grumpy/sunshine. Spice. Family. Witty banter. Real emotions. I really enjoyed this book! Remi and Brick were made for each other. I will be telling everyone to read this book!
I absolutely love Lucy Score and her writing! Forever Never is so amazing and unique. It is filled with amazing characters, an addictive plot, and lots of tension, suspense, and romance. There are so many things that come together and are tied up at the end that make for a fantastic story. Forever Never has it all, you won't want to miss this one! Highly recommended.
Lucy Score did amazing with Forever Never. The suspense, second chance, small town feel was everything. I loved Remi and Brick and all the struggles they over came. I would definitely read more from their little town.
Maybe 3.5 ⭐️ ?
Brick is your caring, overprotective, alpha male hero. Remi is the one woman he always wanted but felt like he could never have. While Remi battled her feelings for him, and the hurt of his constant rejections. Even though she moved away and recreated herself, she ends up in the middle of a dangerous situation. And he is the one person who makes her feel safe, so she runs back home…
I want to give the book 4 stars but the storyline lost my attention a little at the end. I wasn’t as invested as I had been, just ready for the end. Brick & Remi though, overall, didn’t disappoint. Their chemistry was great. Plenty of spice, angst & alpha male with a decent story.
I received this book from the publisher & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Holy shitballs! So spicy! Like really, really spicy. And so many feels. With a great story! And funny dialogue. And a new book boyfriend. Bless Lucy Score for creating a grump like Brick Callan.
She got herself a new fan here.
Lucy score does it again! I love her books. Always great story lines with some smut!! I love each and every character in this book and the ending was great!!
Brick loves Remi. Remi loves Brick. Remi admits this love. Brick doesn't. Hardly even to himself. And when you add in that Remi is his brother's ex high school sweetheart, eight years younger, his bosses daughter, and his ex wife's ex best friend.. things are complicated. Remi comes back to their small town when she is trying to outrun a deadly secret. Brick does what he does best – protect Remi. But while they get closer and admit their feelings, the question looms: Will Remi stay in town after she's officially safe?
WELL. This was rough. I'm a fan of small town, “forbidden” love, grumpy/sunshine, and dual timelines and I still thought this was the messiest. This felt like it was trying to do too many things at once. And some aspects were just so wild I couldn't wrap my head around it; a country western/Caribbean rum shop bar being the easiest of them. The writing style was enjoyable and easy so I feel like this would rate higher for me if the author focused on certain points and trimmed the rest. The overlapping of love interests and excessive characters also added to this.
With all that said, I would still try reading another book by this author.
As always, I'm thankful to NetGalley and Bloom Books for my copy in exchange for my honest opinion!
I ADORE the romance between Brick and Remi and I know that you will too! Lucy Score is becoming a must-read author for me and this book is certainly no exception! The banter and bickering back and forth is delicious and I cannot recommend this enough!
I enjoyed this book, the age difference threw me but then didn't? It was frustrating but also sweet. Real life men would not. That's it, they just would not.
Let me just start off by saying I didn’t have high hopes going into this. This book turned out exactly how I expected it to and it was a bit of a bore to read. However, it is also comprised of tropes I just don’t like at all, and even the ones I do enjoy just felt like they were overdone.
I would recommend this to anyone who just wants a laughable time bc a lot of this book is just the main characters doing the dumbest things.
ty to NetGalley and bloom books for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I requested this book because I have loved everything I have ever read by Lucy Score. She did not disappoint with Forever Never. It is set on Mackinac Island where Remi returns home after an accident that maybe is not an accident. She runs into Brick who is not willing to let her fear go. She knows she is in trouble, but doesn't know what kind. The twisty turning with a romance that is super spicy is in line with what fans of Lucy Score have come to expect.
Honestly it was pretty good. The names of the characters were wild! REMINGTON??? I don't know, it was rough...
It was a good story!
Lucy Score is a must read for me. After reading "Things We Never Got Over" I have been frantically reading all of her backlisted novels, and this has been a favourite for me! The chemistry between Brick and Remi is palpable!! There is so much tension that has just accumulated over the years and you can FEEL the heat I am such a sucker for a friends to enemies? to lovers, and throw in romantic suspense? I'm a goner. This is a slowburn but SMUTTY. I live. I die. I love Lucy Score.
This book is for the lovers of:
-Slow burn (it's a long book) but then holy moly batman, spice level midnight
-Bickering banter. Lots of it. .
-Gorgeous descriptions of an atmospheric setting.
-Dude Who Pines (could be a professional at this)
-She Really Gets Under His Skin
-Very obviously opposites, but it works well here.
Score gives a long, winding, complicated road to HEA but it is SO WORTH THE JOURNEY. I can see why others have rated this differently, but it worked for me. Especially the spicy scenes. I am unapologetically drawn to Lucy Score smut.
