Colorful engaging pictures but the story got a little wordy at times and didn’t really make sense to my kids

I received an electronic ARC from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley.
Walstead and Elkerton created another magical challenge for readers to enjoy. This time the kids find the garden fairy's hidden garden and set traps to catch her. Readers will appreciate the humor as she unwittingly avoids the traps (a departure from other books in this series). The illustrations capture the whimsy and magic of the scenes so readers feel they are standing in the garden too. A fun and light read aloud for families and classes. Readers can further explore the traps and try to build their own.

Thank you Alice Walstead, SOURCEBOOKS kids, Sourcebook Wonderland and NetGalley fir allowing me this ARC e-book. Our family loves the How to Catch books and have a fairy house in our garden so I knew this book would be right up our alley. It did not disappoint. My kids have read this book several nights before bed and we already have it almost memorized. what an delightfully whimsical and fun book.

The illustrations in this story include some wonderful diversity, which is important to find in a children's book. As well as the subtle nods to appreciating differences and celerating what makes people unique. Filled with whimsy, this book is a great addition to the series!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for allowing me to read this book (with my almost five year old daughter). The book is extremely colorful and vibrant! We thought this book was just okay. Glad we read it, but not something that we would put on rotation.

RATING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our Thoughts ~ This was our second read part of the how to catch series and we really enjoy them. In this book it was very well illustrated that you felt you were part of the world. I felt that the rhymes didnt really flow that well in the story but non the less it was a good book. My daughter said I love fairys so I knew I was going to love this book and I did!
It was a very silly laughable adventure on how to catch a garden fairy.

We appreciate being able to receive an ebook copy to read thank you!

The How to Catch books are always a favorite of the kids in my classroom. How to Catch a Garden Fairy will soon become a favorite of theirs, I am sure!

We follow the Catch Club Kids as they try to outsmart the garden fairy. The traps they set are funny and the illustrations are lively and are very similar to other How to Catch books. This will be a good addition to any classroom library, or any fairy fan.

I do wish that the illustrations portrayed younger children, as that is the target audience of the book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy of this book .

How to catch a Garden Fairy. My class absolutely adores this series. After reading the books we plan activities like building a trap, creating a fairy garden or a maze like in how to catch a reindeer. These stories promote imagination and give ideas for STEAM activities. They are a great addition to any classroom or school library.

This is my first book of the How To Catch series. I found the illustrations colourful. The story interesting for the targeted audience of kids age 4-10. In my opinion, more little girls would like this book.

I would have liked the text to be more fun and entertaining. Would have given it a 3.5 stars review if half stars were available.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Kids for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is nowhere near the quality of the original How To Catch series, and I was super bummed overall. The rhymes don’t flow or have rhythm, leading to a really disjointed feel when reading the book out loud. The story is disjointed and confusing, especially when compared to the Snowman, Yeti, etc, series by Wallace. It feels like they wanted to capitalize on the popularity of the series, but without Wallace’s writing — it just does not work. I do not recommend.

Precious book with splendid illustrations. As we follow the fairy that makes things bright and colorful for all, the children are secretly making something special for her, thus would be a great book to read to children, having them follow with a STEAM activity to draw or build their own fairy spa!!!

I read this to a six year old girl, I am not entirely sure it held her attention enough. The pictures were bright but not clear to the words. I thought it was a bit too long for the age range. Thank you netGalley for the advanced copy
