Being from S.C. I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down once I started. I loved the characters and the plot was great.

Loved it. So wonderful to be back in the company of familiar characters. I haven't read all the books in either series, but have thoroughly enjoyed the ones I have. Some interesting new people and of course, some bad guys. Thanks so much to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. It was a delight to revisit Edisto Island. My review is voluntary.

Very engaging The mystery unfolded nicely and we get to see more about this little town. Characters crossover from other series and it was great to have them all together.
Many thanks to BelleBooks and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Badge of Edisto by C Hope Clark probably would have been enjoyable if I had read the previous books in this series. As a stand alone I did not enjoy the characters. I think there is too much back story to make this interesting. The women appear weak and “poor me” types as well as self centered and uncaring. I guess I expected more descriptions of Edisto area too. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book.

Really love reading the books by C. Hope Clark! She paints such a clear picture of the area in South Carolina. Makes me want to go and visit the area again.

Badge of Edisto is a crossover novel featuring characters from C. Hope Clark's Edisto Island and Carolina Slade series. Released 28th Oct 2022 by Belle Bridge Books, it's 358 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

This is a well written but slow moving character driven procedural mystery set in a rural coastal/island area in South Carolina. The murder of a local healer/wise woman draws retired former Police Chief Callie back into service due to the incompetence of her replacement in the force. She's joined in crossover support roles by her friends Carolina Slade (and fiance), and a cameo from Quinn Sterling from another crossover series by the author.

The cast of characters is quite large and the author hits the ground at a good clip. It does not work as a standalone in any way whatsoever. For current fans of the author's oeuvre who are up to speed, this is a very well written and plotted book. The characters are deeply developed and feel realistic. With so many related books and characters who feature in crossovers, this would make a great candidate for a long binge/buddy/readathon read.

Four stars. Well written but dark in places. Content includes descriptions of active substance abuse and mental health issues.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is book 9 in the Edisto Island Mystery series. It contains characters from her crossover series. Callie Morgan, Carolina Slade and Quinn Sterling are all visiting since Callie resigned her job as Police Chief. She is now regretting that decision. During the visit a dead body turns up and the group catches the new chief in a lie about the death. They get dragged into the investigation and someone in town isn't happy that Callie is back working with the police. This book can be read as a stand alone but you will get more into the relationships of all the characters if you have read some of the previous books in either series.

This is the 9th book in series and, despite claims on Kindle, it is not TTS enabled.
The characters are well developed, the personal anguish well detailed, the world building meticulous, and the investigations well done. It's probably an addictive page turner for those with better vision.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from BelleBooks, Inc., Bell Bridge Books via NetGalley.

Badge of Edisto is the latest in the Edisto Island mystery series by C. Hope Clark. The story just didn’t grab me from the beginning like I thought it would and so I never could really get into it. I also found it a little confusing in the first few chapters of the story. I couldn’t really relate to any of the main characters and none of them grabbed my attention either. In all fairness it might have helped if I had read the previous books in the series, but I didn’t know that there were that many before this one until after I had started reading this one.

I just love C. Hope Clark's series and her writing is so amazing. I don't know how she comes up with so many story ideas, but I'm sure glad she does! I loved this next episode of Edisto and how she included a cross over from Craven County. These mysteries are so intriguing and interesting, the characters are so well developed and entertaining. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

Time to head back to Edisto! After the last book, I was anxious to see what had become of everyone.

Ms. Clark does not disappoint either. Not only are we back with Callie, but we get a bonus! Callie Morgan, Carolina Slade, and Quinn Sterling show up here and I love a good crossover!

Callie has fled Edisto and crime is taking over. There are some seriously bad people here. I was anxious for her to get herself together. Hit up an AA meeting or something, but get out of this funk! I should never have doubted her friends.

Quite a bit of the story is Callie in her own head with the guilt. And now when she is needed she has no badge. Luckily she does have good friends. And she will need them. But in the end, Ms. Clark does her magic and ties everything up with no confusion and a lot of feelings!

My mother’s family is from here and she loved reading these books. Unfortunately, she never did get to read this last one, but oh the joy these brought her!

This book has mystery, love, romance and intrigue. I found the characters to be relatable and dynamic. I enjoyed their character development over the course of the book and the various dynamics between characters and I always love red herrings, Loved it! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

I like this series because it is set in Edisto. One of my favorite places. I also like the characters. All are well developed and some are pains in the ass, but most are good people. Glad the Chief is back

This is the another story I read and liked by Hope Clark. Slow burning, featuring a sort of cross over with other series, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
Enjoyed it and had fun.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

With her newest novel, Badge of Edisto, C. Hope Clark brings all of her characters together - Callie Morgan, Carolina Slade and Quinn Sterling.

"Callie Morgan is felling the unintended consequences of her decision to resign as Sheriff of Edisto Beach. Crime is up on Edisto and she feels an overwhelming sense of guilt at all of the lives she's impacted.
When a longtime resident dies, Callie's instincts tell her there's more to it than just a heart attack, but without a badge she'll have to rely on her friends more than ever. Because something evil has come to Edisto..."

This story starts as a slow build. A lot of time is spent in Callie's head rehashing mistakes and guilt and "what-ifs". You know all is not right on Edisto with the new Sheriff and his deputies. But Clark doesn't let you know just how bad it is until near the end. And it's about the worst thing you can imagine.

Clark does another excellent job of describing the mood and feel of the low country island of Edisto. It's a place like no other.

I like that Clark brings all of her characters together. Lots of interesting interactions.

The ending is explosive and wild. More great Low Country crime fiction from Clark.

Having been to this part of the country, I always enjoy reading books set in this area. As I have not read the previous books in this series, I was a little lost with some of the characters. However, the book was a great mystery with an interesting plot. . I will plan to go back and read the other books in the series.
