To start, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. I think I am often such a lover of the genre that I am always surprised when something doesn't click but unfortunately, this one didn't. The love interests were challenging to feel for and there were some scenes that were uncomfortable to read. I have seen other reviews talk about how it was challenging to get past the comparison to Beach Read, for me that wasn't a problem. While I love Beach Read, I didn't go in set up to compare the two.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I enjoyed this book, I felt it was so easy to read and easily pulled me in. This would be the perfect holiday read!
Will be keeping an eye out for more Taylor Cole books!
Such a good romance! The characters were likable and believable. The story was great and the steam was perfect!
This book was a serious struggle to get though, which is a disappointed because the excitement when I received my arc was real. Unfortunately, the writing style was a mess, the story was all over the place and the mmc was the worst.
Unfortunately I could not finish this book. I got about 45% through and I just could not do it. It felt very much like Emily Henry with a fun summer read but once in, I realized it was not that. I felt the dialogue felt very forced and uncomfortable. The plot just was not interesting enough for me to push through.
I really enjoyed the concept of this book, and the way the plot unfolded. This book was super sweet, perfect summer read!
I'll be on the look out for more books from Taylor Cole!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
DNF at page 10.
I'm no prude but when a female first person protagonist starts using phrases like 'sucks balls' and 'tit limpet' in the first two pages, I'm afraid it's not one I want to continue investing in. Swearing has its place in literature but you need to earn the right as an author to do it effectively. Too many worthwhile books out there to spend time on this one - and I'm also afraid some of the other feedback on Goodreads didn't exactly entice me to pursue this.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me a chance to review this book and apologies that I couldn't finish it.
I’m sorry to say, I’d give this 2.5 stars. I couldn’t finish it, thought I very much tried to. 😬 I couldn’t relate to the main characters, and it had a lot of similarities to a very popular beach related book. Even the covers are similar.
The concept is interesting, and the writing is done well. The is wasn’t quite believable that the FMC was attracted to the MMC.
Anyway, thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in advanced and review.
Super easy romance that I couldn’t put down! I read this in one sitting! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this title.
This book was just ok for me. I had a hard time getting into it, and put it down several times before I came back. I kept thinking it would get better because it had the makings of a good story. I liked the relationship between the women, I thought there was some depth with the story of Candice and her ex, and. I liked Daniel's character. However, it just fell flat to me.
🔹 My take: 2.5/5
🔸Candice works as a waitress in a pub in beach town of Cornwall. She has settled here since a year after escaping from her aggressive & abusive husband Joseph. She loves her new friend Makayla and her saviour Demi who has provided her shelter as well as a job to survive. Candice is in Cornwall also with a mission to find her biological father. She happens to meet a struggling writer Alexis who is in midst of writing a romantic novel. Sparks fly when Candice meets Alexis but soon she realises that he is not the one for her. Daniel, Alexis’s literary agent follows him to check how the progress with the book is going on and bumps into Candice. Candice is now torn between 3 guys - Alexis, Daniel and Joseph - each trying to woo her. Read the book to know who eventually wins her heart.
💔 There are quite a few things I did not enjoy in this book…first is I found it too lengthy. Not much was happening in the major part of the book. Second was romance bit. The chemistry between protagonists was totally missing and there were no goosebumps or cute romantic moments which a book ‘Romance’ genre should have. Third, characters were not described vividly and it was difficult to imagine how each looked. Fourth, so much was stressed on surfing subject but not much detailing was done about surfing hazards, techniques, waves riding etc. All seemed repetitive with few points covered each time when the topic came.
💫 I have not read ‘Beach Read’ but many reviews swore that the plot is copied from there. I wouldn’t advise to pick this one in Romance genre unless you are a fan of the author.
Thanks to @headofzeus and @Netgalley for sharing eARC in exchange for honest review.
A quick, witty, enjoyable read! I loved the premise and the characters interactions kept me hooked! Flew through this one! Wish I was reading it on the beach! 😉
Just a light hearted funny read. I read this over my holiday break from college and it was just what I needed. So funny and so easy to keep up with. I highly recommend this author and book.
I kept struggling to start this and then I just could not finish it. There were several statements made through the book that felt problematic and made it even more difficult to read. It was difficult to read when the MMC was misogynistic and just rude. What was the point of that?
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A romcom with no chemistry, no butterflies, a lacking plot that doesn't draw the reader in but so many sub stories that the reader can't keep any of the story lines straight, and an absolute ass of a hero.
I was so close to a DNF, this was, frankly, such a boring read. The Cornwall setting was really the only thing this book had going for it, I'm a suckered for a dreamy English country side setting.
Thank you Netgalley and Aria & Aries for the ARC in exchange for my review!
This was a cute enough romance, nothing special but it was easy enough to read. Will look out for Taylor in the future to see her other books!
Not my favorite.. I had high hopes from the cute cover and the interesting plot but it was just not really my thing..
I just tried so hard to enjoy this book and I couldn’t connect with each of the main characters. The familiarities with Beach Read was obvious and it felt like this is unlikable execution of the similar plot line.
I enjoyed this book. It brought some summer warmth into the cold winter season and was a good story to escape into.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC
Thank you netgalley for sending me an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review
Unfortunately this is not a book I will be recommending
To start, the title is very misleading. This book is not set in the holidays and therefore I imagine the title was to lure Emily Henry readers, but this book was not comparable to Emily Henry, even in the slightest way.
The plot was all over the place, dialogue felt forced and awkward. The male love interest was a blatent mysogynist causing the entire romance to not sit well.
