I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well written and kept me interested, and I liked the various mysteries that were thrown out in the book. It was a bit slow at times, but the writing was great and kept me reading. Overall, a good mystery with a few twists and surprises included!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Vivvy Bouchet is a brilliant astrophysicist and a reluctant psychic. She comes by the psychic tendencies via her mother, Astra Bouchet. Her 'gift' revealed itself at the age of 10, when her premonition that saved the life of her childhood friend Mike. Fast forward to today, Mike is a Texas police officer who asks Vivvy for help in a high-profile cold case of a missing three year old girl.

I am obsessed with this book! As a reader, when you become so immersed into a story and the lives of the characters that all you can think about is what will happen next or where will this go....that's a sign of a fantastic novel and a talented author. The writing is superb, the characters are very well developed as the story switches from the past to the present and the overall plot is just so engrossing,

Publication day is June 20th and this is in my auto buy basket on Amazon! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for mystery, suspense, psychological, thriller, cop procedure readers!!! 5+ stars!!!

Solid thriller. A believable plot with a strong female lead character. Good pacing and great characters.

I really enjoyed this one! I loved that Vivvy has this sort of unexplainable power but also puts her faith in science as an astrophysicist - the dichotomy is fascinating. The central mystery is also compelling. The only thing that gave me pause was the several (and I mean, there were A LOT) of references to Elon Musk in a mostly positive way. I realize that books are often finished long before they go through publication but all those mentions were jarring and I'm sure will be even more so once this hits the shelves.

Vivvy is the daughter of a known psychic and was only ten years old when she saved the life of a boy by making an impossible prediction. Now, shes grown up and is an astrophysicist devoted to science. The boy she saved has grown up to be a cop, and believes she can see things no one else can. He comes to her asking for help with a high profiled cold case of a kidnapped girl.

Vivvy pairs up with detective Jesse Sharpe who is a skeptic of anything other than facts. When Vivvy becomes the target of a conspiracy podcaster, she fights back with her scientific mind and gifts.

This book is being developed as a tv series on Fox. I cannot wait – it’s going to be a great drama. However, the book wasn’t exactly what I expected. My biggest complaint was the pacing, it was rather slow and drug out. I wish this would have been one that I would have preferred to get lost in the audio – which is why I’m excited for the tv show. However, I loved the characters and the writing style. I just want faster pacing in my thrillers. For general fiction however, this one work perfectly and I love it. I love how the ending set things up for a potential second book but didn’t leave you on a huge cliffhanger. Perfect way to end a book the author wants to do a sequel or series in my opinion! The supernatural elements were so fun, and really made me ponder what’s out there.

If you are looking for a great drama with light thrills, then make sure to grab a copy of this one June 20th.

Thank you so much to Flatiron Books, and Netgalley, @netgalley, for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

OOOOOOF, what a freaking WILD ROLLERCOASTER RIDE. I am so thankful to Macmillan Audio, Flatiron Books, Julia Heaberlin, and NetGalley for granting me advanced digital, physical, and audiobook access to this thrilling tale about an underappreciated psychic and her ability to solve cold cases. Night Will Find You is set to hit shelves on June 20, 2023 and I can’t wait for more of my thriller-loving babes to get ahold of it.

Vivvy Bouchet is a psychic, taking after her law enforcement affiliated mother who has recently passed away, letting her and her sister to fend for themselves after their darkened past comes back to haunt her in a years-old missing person’s case.

Many are skeptical about her gift of understanding what’s taking place past the veil and on the lighter side of life, but Vivvy has a hunch, and she’s almost never wrong. Her brother-in-law, whom she saved in her youth, from being run down by a car, consistently vouches for her intellectual presence, but it’s up to them alone to ward off the conservative, fake-news reporters and demeaning cops of the world, so she can actually help them with the missing person’s case of Lizzie Solomon, while her mother rots in a jail cell, and her town wants justice.

This book hosts several twists and turns that will keep you guessing and gasping all the while, until you figure out the true motive behind the case.

This was an interesting book because thought it has supernatural elements (psychic predictions) it's very much grounded in reality. I'm glad that the lead character is super smart and not some drifting loser like how this type of character is usually portrayed. I'm thinking we are getting a second book (hoping charm bracelet wise) bc I have been missing the show Medium.for years now.

Julia Heaberlin has a descriptive narrative style that always succeeds in easily pulling me into her character's lives. This slow burn story of truth and deceit, ghosts and premonitions, echoes of the past and glimpses of the future, all set under the sweltering Texas sun, is no exception.

Vivian Rose is an astrophysicist with a difficult past. Her mother was a psychic whose work forced her to relocate her two young daughters from Virginia to Texas in order to escape negative attention. Vivvy has worked hard to build a private, fulfilling life for herself and escape notoriety for the gift she shares with her mother. A longtime friend who is now a detective convinces Vivvy to use her psychic ability as part of a new effort to look into an 11 year old case involving a missing child. The mother was convicted, but some are convinced she's innocent and the young girl is still alive. The attention of a hugely influential conspiracy theory podcaster with a devoted fan base adds an unwanted and potentially dangerous intensity to an already high stakes investigation. Thus begins this rich, skillfully layered mystery.

There are several mysteries unfolding within this book. They are most definitely compelling and have moments where they take center stage, but I found the characters, their secrets, hidden motivations, and multilayered personal stories to be the main driving force moving the overall story forward. The author's beautifully crafted prose placed me right there alongside Vivvy as she struggled to make sense of her gift and the right path forward with her tangled relationships.

The addition of Vivvy's thoughts and insight into the vastness of space and time, combined with the heat and immense feel of the Texas landscape, made for a haunting, otherwordly atmosphere. The setting of this story really came off the page for me and added so much to my reading experience.

This book was a delight from start to finish. I love a well written mystery with an intriguing puzzle, flawed, complex characters, complicated family ties, and a vivid, descriptive atmosphere. This engrossing suspense tale checked all those boxes as well as wrapping things up in a way that was satisfying and fit well with the tone of the story. Night Will Find You is one of my standout mysteries from 2023.

Thank you to Netgalley and Flatiron Books for providing a copy for me to read and review.

I would give Night Will Find You 4.5 stars. This story was complex with many layers. It definitely was a slow burn but I enjoyed each page. None of it was predictable but there also wasn't one big ah ha moment. It all slowly unraveled which kept my attention.

The author gave our main character, Vivvy, "intuitive" characteristics which was fun. This special quality wasn't abused throughout the book and the character was a woman of science which I loved. There were also some family dynamics and a romantic relationship explored throughout the book which gave it another element.

This book had so much packed in it that it really felt multi-dimensional. I'm not sure why I haven't read more of Heaberlin's books but now I am going to have to go find her older stories and read them too. Another author now added to my "must read" list.

So thrilled to have gotten an early copy of this. I've read all of Julia Heaberlins other books. Her writing is luminous.Characters are well developed. I absolutely loved Vivvy. The psychic and Astrophysicist elements added to an already engrossing mystery and they were well researched. Loved the relationships between Vivvy and her mother. As well as her best friend Mike, who is a police officer Vivvy is helping with a missing child case. Flawless. Five big stars. Can't wait till June so I can buy physical copies. Thank you NetGalley and Flatiron books for an excellent ARC!

4.5 Stars! This was a great read! First time reading this author and I am hooked. The writing was really good and the storyline was intriguing. I enjoyed the way all the characters interacted with each other - just when you thought you knew how a certain person was, something shifted and you found out they were not who they appeared to be. The supernatural part of the book was subdued, which I appreciate, as I feel it added to the story but did not become the story. Like others I would like to hear more from Vivvy so perhaps a sequel - so much potential and wanting to find out how things progress in her life. I will definitely find and read the other books by this author. I received an ARC and appreciate NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me the opportunity to leave my opinion.

Can a woman’s mind blend science and psychic powers to solve the case of a missing child?

Vivvy Boucher has a promising career as an astrophysicist, working to identify artificial light far away from Earth in what would be a major breakthrough in science. She has left her desert refuge to return to her family home in Fort Worth, Texas, to spend time with her dying mother, a self-proclaimed psychic. Vivvy herself has some psychic gifts, though they are generally more of a burden to her than a blessing. She grew up exposed to death and the dead in different ways, and still can have flashes of insight about dead people….when she can, she tries to feed information anonymously to the right place if it will help bring a troubled spirit some peace. But clearly, it is not something that will help burnish her professional reputation. For that reason, she is reluctant to help her childhood friend and current police detective Mike, a man she has loved since she was a teenager but who married someone else, when he asks her to come into his station to consult on a case. To make matters worse, the detective who is in charge of the case, Jesse, does not believe in psychic gifts and wants Vivvy nowhere near the evidence. But the case is compelling…..eleven years ago, a three year old girl named Lizzie disappeared from her own home while her mother was just a few rooms away, and despite intensive searches she has never been found. Even in the absence of a body, suspicion fell upon the mother Nicolette, who was known to be having an affair and who ultimately was convicted of killing her own child. But just before her death, Vivvy’s mother had contacted Nicolette, now known as Nickie, in prison to say that she knows who abducted the child. And Vivvy has a strong feeling that Lizzie is in fact still alive. Her hopes to remain anonymous while helping the police are blasted when an infamous podcaster, known for dabbling in conspiracy theories and other methods of inflaming his audience, targets her on his shows, impugning her reputation as a scientist and airing the dirty laundry of her family’s past, exposing not just Vivvy to harassment but her sister and nephew as well. Against this backdrop of a hostile detective with his own secrets to hide, an angry woman perhaps unjustly condemned and imprisoned, and a young girl who might still be alive and returned to her devastated father, not to mention her precarious relationship with her sister, Vivvy may have to sacrifice all that she holds dear in her search for the truth.
Vivvy is a fascinating character, with a troubling past and a difficult present. How can someone both trust in the logic and hard facts of science and still accept the very unscientific instructions into her life? Will she ever be able to put to rest the troubled souls who seek her out in the night? The characters around her struggle with their own pain and inconsistencies. Why are Vivvy and her sister Brig, so close during their tumultuous childhood, now at such odds? And why did the beautiful and brilliant Brig opt to marry young and not pursue the career for which she had trained? Then there is Mike, the man Vivvy still loves but will never have, but who seems unable himself to completely give Vivvy up. And what is Jesse’s story? He’s clearly a dangerous man in many ways, but are the secrets that he hides and that clearly haunt him? Can Vivvy trust him, or is he a danger to her? And lastly, what really happened to Lizzie that day years ago? Did her mother kill her and hide the body somewhere where no one will ever find it? Or is she truly as innocent as she claims, and has someone else gotten away with the crime? So many questions, so many lies, which create this haunting but compulsively readable thriller. Readers of authors Megan Miranda, Mary Kubrica and Lisa Unger will find this an intriguing read, as will those who enjoy a dark but well-plotted mystery with plenty of red herrings and plot twists. Thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for sharing an advance readers’ copy with me. It was an addictive read, and one I highly recommend.

Loved it!! Would give it 4.5 stars. An astrophysicist psychic who needs to sleep with a night light!! How can it get any better?! Vivvy never seemed to be afraid. I was hooked from the very first page and couldn't wait to find out what happened to Lizzie. Loved the relationship between Vivvy and Jesse Sharp. Their back and forth was hilarious at times. I was suspicious of him right up until the very end. I wasn't sure if he was a killer or an actual good guy. He was scary at times, but also always there to help. Not sure how Vivvy and Sharp survived the Watermelon Smile. I never guessed the reason behind Sharp's obsession with the charm bracelet. Mike's wife was an unexpected surprise. There were so many twists and turns. When the truth about Lizzie's kidnapping was finally revealed , I definitely wasn't expecting who was behind everything. The book was full of so many surprises. Loved when Vivvy was able to wipe away the ever present smirk on Bubba Guns's face. The scariest part is there are actual people just like Bubba Guns.

Definitely recommend the book. It's a great mystery/thriller. I was sad to see it end and hoped Vivvy finally found the light in the sky that she was searching for. Loved the characters, story and writing style. Look forward to reading more books by the author. Loved the cover of the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Flatiron Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Night Will Find You by Julia Heaberlin (the Queen of chilling one liners) - that’s what I’m calling her from now on!

Another brilliant novel set in a Southern town and in the big Texan desert 🏜️ If you enjoy stories about crime, psychics and or science, this would definitely be your kind of thriller. This book is being released on 20th June 2023 so add it to your TBR pile now 🤗

“According to my mother, dead people don’t lie down beside you in the daylight…”

“Evil trips us with a slippery, invisible puddle when it isn’t even raining…”

✨✨✨✨✨5/5

Wowza.

I’ve been reading a lot of thrillers lately. That makes them, unfortunately, a little predictable. This one was NOT. I did have a (correct) theory about charm bracelet girl early, but there were so many things I didn’t see coming. This is also such a beautifully written tribute to science and space and I just loved it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the Kindle ARC. This was the first book I've read by Julie Heaberlin and I'll be looking forward to reading more of her books. This is a suspense/thriller unlike a lot of the other of the genre that I've read. Vivvy is a psychic astrophysicist and is called upon to help solve a cold case. I didn't really think of Vivvy as "psychic," more like being very intuitive and perceptive. Night Will Find You was compulsively reading layered with characters that I'd like to read more about in Ms. Heaberlin's future books.

This was an absolutely brilliant story! How have I not heard of Julia Heaberlin before?? I absolutely loved everything about it, from the characterization to the plot to the pacing to the writing style. I was drawn in from the first pages and that interest never let go.

I was frothing at the mouth during the excerpts with Bubba Guns, enraptured by the description of her search for light through the cosmos, and captivated by the familial relationship - dysfunction and all. The psychic elements were icing on the cake, handled with a deft touch that made it not only possible but necessary for me to believe in a psychic astrophysicist...

I would love to see this turn into a series. Even if it doesn't, I'm pleased to note that the author has a number of other novels and believe me I will be tracking them down!

I enjoyed the psychic piece of this and liked the Lizzie case that was being worked on. I would have liked more information about her childhood and her mother.
