This is a good book. The two main characters are Shalisha and Gage. Shalisha owns a bar and restaurant. Gage is a firefighter. They have dated since high school. Four years ago they broke up. It was a bad breakup. Gage comes back into Shalisha’s life because he can not live without her. She doesn’t know if she can trust him. They each work at starting over and making a go of their relationship. They both fall in love.

ARC provided for my honest opinion. This book is pretty chauvinistic and cruel. He cheats, runs off, screws other people more, then returns with the expectation of welcoming arms. But that is a second chance romance for you. Will he get a second chance to make things right? You will have to read to find out.

A second chance romance as Gage comes back into town working as a firefighter after being gone for four years. The woman he left behind because he cheated on Shalisha is not happy with seeing him and his character at the beginning of the book is surprised, thinking that four years will forget the hurt and pain he caused. That is one thing I did not care for it was like he needed to be told what to do to work toward her just talking to him. The rest of the book besides them working out their problems has a mystery going on as someone is after Shalisha doing harm to her business and her. The ending was okay I just felt off a little when I got to the end, maybe just me. I did like most of the characters.

This is a Second Chance Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the EverBlue Heroes series. I am going to start off by saying that Gage is trying to win back Shalisha the love of his life years earlier him cheat on her. I wanted to add that because I know some readers have a lot of problems with books that have cheating in it, and I cannot believe it was not in the about the book part. I normally do not love books that have cheating in it, but I think the fact it happened in the past and not during this book did not upset me. I do think if you read to the end you get the big picture of what really happened. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and their story. I love the second chance romance, but I really wanted more of the suspense in the beginning. The end was full of suspense and action. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a really cute, really sweet addition to a fantastic series. I would recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys a really intriguing, well-written romance. You can't go wrong with this captivating book!
